Thanks to the Newcastle-Online website and their new layout there’s quite a bit of feedback coming back my way on the comments I make in these articles. So this time I took a more in-depth look at the game, taking notes, replaying, rewinding, rechecking.

Talking Points: Get The Flock Out Shepherd
By Archie Brand On Sun 5 Nov 2006 | (Have Your Say: 12 Comments)
“Where there’s a will there’s a way” - or so the saying goes. How many people actually want Shepherd out? Fifty? A couple of hundred? A thousand? Not very many really - put it down as being just a small pocket of disgruntled punters.
Archie’s Talking Points
By Archie Brand On Sun 5 Nov 2006 | (Have Your Say: 6 Comments)
It normally takes me between 2 and 4 hours to write my Alternative Assessment so as it was a late kick off and I’m working tomorrow, I’ve decided that I should maybe write a brief comment on the game and flash it off immediately after the game.
Archie’s Alternative Assessment - A Passage Through Palermo
By Archie Brand On Sat 4 Nov 2006 | (Have Your Say: 6 Comments)
It would appear that some things are put on this earth purely to remind us how old we are. As a kid growing up in the sticks of Northumberland, Saturday afternoons consisted of watching the wrestling at 4 o’clock followed by football results on the teleprinter, then at 5:30 it was Dr Who time.

By Archie Brand On Sat 4 Nov 2006 | (Have Your Say: 3 Comments)
Glenn Roeder has criticised fixture congestion with the Toon playing 3 games in 6days. During the interview he made the following remarks - “we are competing in 4 competitions this year” and “We don’t have the size of squad required to be successful in those competitions”
Archie’s Alternative Assessment - A Charlton Charade
By Archie Brand On Tue 31 Oct 2006 | (Have Your Say: 3 Comments)

Ferdinand, Ashton and Gabbidon have apparently already signed for us.
Archie’s Alternative Assessment - Middlesbrough Mediocrity
By Archie Brand On Tue 24 Oct 2006 | (Have Your Say: 11 Comments)
In 1882 The Sporting Times published an obituary that stated that English Cricket had died, the body would be cremated, and the ashes would be taken to Australia. Cricket fans out there will instantly recognise this as the story explaining the origin of The Ashes series of tests.
Bolt-On Snippets

When I read a lot of the comments that appear on websites I generally tend to dismiss 90% of it immediately as being either totally uninteresting or just rampant drivel.
Archie’s Alternative Assessment - The Bolton Balls-Up
By Archie Brand On Wed 18 Oct 2006 | (Have Your Say: 2 Comments)
There are only so many words in the English Language. I have a fairly extensive vocabulary, but there are a great number of words that I would not want to use in an article such as this, and if I used them I’m sure that you would not want to read them.
Archie’s Alternative Assessment - The Man Utd Massacre
By Archie Brand On Thu 5 Oct 2006 | Comments Off
This little review took a day or two to complete. I’ve been drowning my sorrows. A little more serious than usual, but it was a serious shambles, and should be treated with the severity it deserves.
