Newcastle-Online News

This is where we put all of Newcastle-Online’s material, a new archive if you will.

As you may or may not be aware, talk of protesting against the club in regards to the events of the past few weeks is currently being readily discussed amongst Newcastle fans and fan-sites alike.

As a platform for the views of all United fans, Newcastle-Online.com does not hold a particular opinion in either favour in regards to the possible protesting. There are so many differing views and opinions as to the best, and most potentially productive, courses of action that we can’t possibly advocate in favour of any specific type of protest.

All we can do is provide you, the reader, with the information available so for those who wish to register their protest, there are a number of options being put forward by other supporter organisations and those are detailed below:

1. An immediate and indefinite boycott of all Newcastle United merchandise to include replica shirts, other club clothing and any items sold at official NUFC outlets, including…Newcastle United programmes and magazines as well as food, drinks and beverages of any description…raffle tickets, lotteries…Shearer’s Bar as well as club cafes, official club tours [and] visits to the NUFC museum.

2. This boycott to be extended to any retail outlet or product owned either in full or in part by Mike Ashley e.g. Sports Soccer, Lillywhites etc.

3. Supporters vocally expressing their disgust against the current regime whether they are at the match or not.

4. [The agreement] that Mike Ashley does not attend away games amongst the travelling support.

One thing that is clear from all parties is that there is absolutely no condoning of any violent or illegal action whatsoever.

Potential protestors have also insisted that the team must not be affected by any actions taken - meaning no boycott of the Hull City game or any game following on from that. The team still deserve the support of all Newcastle United fans.

Xisco

Reports from Spain are saying that Newcastle have agreed a fee with Deportivo over their 22 year old striker Francisco Jiménez Tejada or more familiarly Xisco. Fee is thought to be around 7 million euros plus another 3 million euros in clauses.

No official confirmation has been released yet but Deportivo’s coach Miguel Ángel Lotina has apparently confirmed after Deportivo’s victorious start to the campaign against Real Madrid that he is aware of the transfer. Deportivo fansite Riazor.org confirms that the player is flying to Newcastle to pass his medical.

Judging by the reactions from a lot of Deportivo fans he is quite highly rated by them. Their fans describe him as a strong striker who is surprisingly quick, technically gifted and one of their biggest talents.

We’ll wait and see what happens but surely it can’t be too bad if it keeps Shola and Smith out of the team.

Tomorrow’s Daily Mail is actually expecting Smith to complete his Everton move sooner than later. Get your party hats out!

Newcastle United have this morning announced that our final pre-season friendly against Valencia has been delayed, and will now kick off at a later time of 5PM.

It appears there has been a problem with the plane bringing the Spanish stars to the North East, and so the club feel they had no alternative but to push back the start time.

A statement on the official site, nufc.co.uk, read:

NEWCASTLE United’s pre-season friendly against Valencia at St.James’ Park on Saturday August 9 will now kick off at the later time of 5pm.

This is due to the delayed arrival of our opponents from Spain following a technical issue concerning their aircraft.

Supporters using corporate areas will still be able to enter the stadium from 1pm.

We apologise to supporters for any inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond the Club’s control.

It seems likely that refunds will be given to those that have bought tickets and are now unable to attend.

“May you live in interesting times” – ancient Chinese curse.

Trying to work out what is going on at NUFC is difficult at the best of times. In the days of Shepherd and the Halls, there was a steady flow of leaks which seemed to emanate from Gallowgate, some of which were even true from time to time (I got the impression Roeder and Souness in particular had more moles than a witch’s backside). Since the advent of Ashley and his cronies, hard news about the club is thin on the ground and you might get more insight from reading chicken entrails than reading the local and national media.

Today we turn to one of the most talked about issues at St. James’ Park this season. The future of Joey Barton.

Since the last edition of SHSoSHG, David Rozehnal has signed for Lazio, while Emre is expected to sign for Fenerbache next month once he sorts out a technicality involving his eligibility for Turkish national service. Moving on, we turn our attentions to Brazilian centre half Claudio Cacapa.

Newcastle legend Sir Bobby Robson has launched a new charitable foundation. Robson is aiming to raise £500,000 for the new charity, and the money shall fund the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trial and Research Centre, being built at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.

Cancer can be treated most effectively if it is detected in it’s early stages, and the centre will focus on early diagnosis and treatment, and will also feature clinical trials for new drugs.

Sir Bobby is currently undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer - the fifth time he has had cancer in his lifetime. Regardless, he continues to work for the benefit of the North East public.

The team at Newcastle-Online would like to offer Sir Bobby our best wishes, and we would be grateful if you could offer your support to Sir Bobby Robson and all other cancer patients by donating Here.

Many thanks for your continued support.

With club football having more or less coming to a close throughout Europe, for many teams now is a time that player recruitment will really start to kick into high gear. And with a number of players needed at St. James’ Park before things get going again in August, our very own Newcastle United figure to be chief amongst those looking to make early moves. But before deciding on who to bring in, there are still a number of players at the club with their future up in the air. None more so than our Turkish midfielder Emre, who features in this edition of SHSOSHG.

The only news at St. James’ Park this week is that of the imminent departure of chairman Chris Mort who shall be returning to his previous job. Mort has worked hard to rebuild the foundations of the club, and it shall ultimately take years for the fans to fully determine the success of his short but productive reign. This week’s edition of SHSoSHG? will look at a player considered already gone. Is there a way back for David Rozehnal?

I’m conscious that many will not like this article, so the easily offended should not read on. But I think the events of the last fortnight are a worry. Perhaps a minor one, but a worry none the less.

Going back to the initial incident, the tone of the post-Chelsea interview came completely out of the blue, rather like Keegan’s more famous outburst in 1996. Most of us were left scratching our heads, wondering what exactly had brought it on.

Hardly breaking news, but it would seem that Kevin Keegan reached his own conclusions regarding the future of Stephen Carr, and ultimately agreed with our own conclusion to the most recent edition of this series that the Irishman should be released without further ado. Ramage and Troisi were also released, and Newcastle-Online wish the pair all the best. Moving on, we turn our attentions to Jose Enrique.

It’s unbelievable to think that this has simply been one season. Back in September, Newcastle United and Sam Allardyce embarked on another rollercoaster adventure and in May of the next year, we end the season on a high with the return of the Messiah, Kevin Keegan; so that’s why people say life is always interesting at St James Park!

But what are your memories? What were your favourite games? Your best goal? Your player of the season? We want to know the following from YOU:

Game of the Season:

Home Performance of the Season:

Away Performance of the Season:

Goal of the Season:

Player of the Season:

Signing of the Season:

Highest Point of the Season:

Lowest Point of the Season:

(and just for laughs) Toon Manager of the Season:

So get on commenting as we look back on another exciting 8 months in the life of Newcastle United.

Following on from last week’s analysis of Shay Given, it is clear from all the comments that there is a large difference of opinion regarding his future role at the club. Newcastle-Online now moves from one Irishman to another, as we now turn our attentions to right back Stephen Carr and see whether fan opinion is just as divided.

As another marathon of a season nears its end, it is time to look at the Newcastle United squad and identify just who we should look to keep for next season. However, the past nine months have been something of a disappointment and it must therefore be necessary to cut some of the chaff from the squad if we are to progress. In this new serial, Newcastle-Online shall assess each player individually, and answer the question: Should they stay, or should they go? Proceeding in numerical order, we first turn our attentions towards Irish stopper Shay Given . (more…)

Newcastle travel to Anfield, with KK managing the Toon for the first time against Liverpool since that infamous 3-4 scoreline more than 10 years ago. There’s no chance of that happening again, but the Magpies will be looking to try and get something…
