Hughie Gallacher is recognised by United fans as a scorer of 143 goals in 174 appearances and the last man to lift the Championship, but a quick glance at the record books and stats does not tell you the full amazing story of Hughie Gallacher, the wee Scots lad, the best centre-forward Newcastle ever had.
Gallacher is perhaps the greatest ever player in the history of our beloved club, most certainly the greatest character to have ever worn the famous black ‘n’ white stripes and statistically the best ever goalscorer despite Alan Shearer’s record. No player in the history of the club has a better goals to games ratio than Gallacher.
