With club football having more or less coming to a close throughout Europe, for many teams now is a time that player recruitment will really start to kick into high gear. And with a number of players needed at St. James’ Park before things get going again in August, our very own Newcastle United figure to be chief amongst those looking to make early moves. But before deciding on who to bring in, there are still a number of players at the club with their future up in the air. For as long as I can remember, Brazil have been held as the gold standard in professional football. With a swash-buckling style and a seemingly endless supply of genuinely world class players, they have at times simply brushed the opposition aside on the grandest stage of them all, The World Cup.

It’s been a crazy summer at Newcastle so far.

New manager, new owner, four summer signings already and more rumoured to be on the way. It’s been chaotic to say the least. Who’s coming in? How much do we have to spend? Will Owen stay? Will Martins stay? Who will be the new captain? There are a thousand new questions that have been thrown up by the events of the last month or so, all of which we are eager to find out the answer to. However, one of the most important questions that we entered the summer with, before all the changes, is still yet to have any light shed on it.

The last month at Newcastle United has seen the landscape of the club change almost inconceivably. While a month ago our fans were united in frustration at our clueless manager and much maligned chairman, we are now united in a sense of optimism not seen since the peak of Bobby Robson’s tenure.
