The pressure is on once again for the Magpies to deliver this weekend as they travel down to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, live on Setanta Sports. The Saturday evening kick off is another must win for the Geordies if Sam Allardyce is going to have the pressure lifted off him. Will they do it? We asked the panel…

“Our first trip to the capital this season is an interesting one as it pits two underachievers against each other live on Setanta at 5.15pm. Fulham have been worse than we have this season, which says something, although from what I’ve seen of the Cottagers in various games this season they look like a team who can play some football. Brian McBride’s injury has hit them quite hard and they’ve been the victims of some very suspicious, especially in the early days of the campaign, which has probably left them in a false position – much like ourselves.

It’s an entirely unpredictable affair as usual, but I would hope that we could at least push a team with one win in fourteen for a point. A win would make me hit the roof, especially after the recent results against Arsenal and Birmingham, because it would put us right back in the hunt for the European places. It doesn’t look like we’re going to have any extra bodies back, so I’d expect to see the same team named for the third game in a row – something you don’t see very often as a Newcastle United supporter.

If anything, I hope we get amongst them in the same way we did at Blackburn, because Fulham are nowhere near as tough as Rovers are, and they won’t provide such stern resistance. With our upcoming games all looking like ones we should take something from, getting at least a point on the board here would be a good launch-pad for our Festive program. Obviously that’s easier said than done, but we don’t have a horrendous record down at Fulham recently!

Looking at it, I’ll play it safe and go for a score draw, because we definitely won’t keep a clean sheet – we’re desperate for a win on our travels though, and I hope the performance reflects that.

Prediction: Fulham 2-2 Newcastle United”

“Well, I’m a bit stuck what to write for this one!

Craven Cottage has been the scene of a few slip ups for us down the years, but we’ve managed to get the odd result down there as well. As I said last week, the next few games are a test for us. We got off to a good start by beating Birmingham last week - albeit somewhat fortunately - but we need to keep it going. Fulham, Derby and Wigan are all games we should win, if we’re going to make progress this year.

Fulham have had a tricky time of it so far this season, but it’s exactly these games that have a habit of tripping us up. (Look at Derby. One win all season, and guess who it was against). As always when we play in the capital, we’ll have a big support out in force, so lets hope that their trip is not in vein - I don’t think we’ll get much out of our next trip to West London in a couple of weeks!

Howay lads, lets keep it going!

“We want more! We want more!

Yes, Newcastle picked up their first win in a while against Birmingham last week, but it means absolutely nothing if they don’t carry on and pick something up against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.

We simply cannot afford to embarass ourselves again on national television. If Sam Allardyce is going to get it right, it’s got to be now. The defence has got to stay as a unit, the midfield has to play as one and the ball has to be played into the feet of the forwards; NO MORE LONG BALLS!

Fulham are in a bit of a bad spell at the moment, and we should be playing with a bit more confidence after our previous two games, so we should take advantage. If Faye is fit, he must play in the centre of defence for us to stand any chance. And despite his poor recent form, we also need Martins in the team too.

If they show the passion and commitment that they have of late, we should win this one. We’ve picked up a few decent results at Fulham in the past, and it’s time to do so again. Not only for the team, but for the fans.

Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Newcastle”
