Bolton Shirt Newcastle Shirt Newcastle continue their fine run of form when they travel to Bolton Wanderers this afternoon, looking to cause an upset at the Reebok Stadium at 3pm.

Newcastle have only suffered two defeats in the last twelve games with those two defeats coming against Premiership champions Chelsea. And in those two games the Magpies gave their all and were unlucky on both occaisons not to come out on top.

At Stamford Bridge, a miskick led to a goal from Drogba and at St James Park, Drogba again scored from a freekick which was taken in the wrong position in order to ease the angle for the Ivory Coast international.

On Saturday, United walked all over Spurs. It was one of the best performances of the season as the midfield and attack played slick, one-touch football to come away with a 3-1 victory.

Now it’s time to prove that Newcastle are indeed on the road to recovery at one of the toughest grounds in the country, the Reebok Stadium.

SQUADS:

INJURY NEWS:
Shay Given Shay Given is the major doubt following a groin injury he picked up in the victory over Spurs so Pavel Srnicek is on standby, ready to make his first start since his shock return earlier this season.

El Hadji Diouf (hamstring) is a major doubt as is Newcastle’s Damien Duff (knee) still recovering from his knee operation; both however could still feature. Kevin Davies returns from suspension but Stelios Giannakopoulos (groin) will almost definately sit this one out.

POSSIBLE OUTCOMES:
Bolton currently sit 5th in the table with 33 points. A win today could see them rise as high as 3rd come the end of gameplay and defeat could see them fall to 6th. Newcastle currently sit on the brink of the top half in 11th. Victory today could see them as high as 7th which was unthinkable a few weeks ago while defeat will only see them drop as low as 12th.

PREDICTION:
For me, I can see Newcastle going all out for this. With the pace of Emre, Dyer and Martins, we can just nick this if we get it right. If all goes to plan, I can see a 2-1 scoreline in favour of the Magpies but that’s a rather optimistic view. Martins will definately score.
