Your Shout: Sheffield Utd 1-2 Newcastle Utd - Have Your Say

Posted in:

A Steven Taylor header on 80 minutes, restored the lead the half-time lead that Obafemi Martin’s first-half volley had established, after Christian Nade had hauled the hosts level on 74 minutes. The goals were Newcastle’s first two in 5 games, and the victory over the lowly Blades lifts Newcastle into the top half.

6 games left until summer, have your say.

  3. I think we should be playing Given, Carr, Moore, Taylor, Solano, Duff, Butt, Parker, Emre, Dyer and Martins with Sib, Milner, Gooch, Harper and Zoggy on the bench.

Arsenal’s defence is suspect this season and I think Oba and Dyer can give Senderos the run around. I’m going for a 3-1 Toon win with Martins, Solano and Duff bagging the goals for us and young Fabregas to get one for the Gunners.

    Come on Tooooon!

  4. was there in the sheff utd end and have to say that was one of our best away performances of the season.
we outclassed them and Oba was outstanding all match, never giving anything up.
i was also so impressed by the leadership abilities of Steven Taylor he lead the line so well and esnured that our defensive line was never deep or exposed by the opposition and i also believe that Craig Moore had a sensational game, all the more for leaving Gooch on the bench.
Just to say also after all his criticism recently, both Steven Carr and Damien Duff played a very good role in the win today.

  5. I feel obliged to comment because I think its wrong to only do it when were playing gash and have something to rant about. I’ll keep my comments reserved because I only listened to the radio and then watched MOTD. First of all, good result, good comeback from them levelling, especially away from home. Its nice to see that it is possible for us to be able to do that instead of getting pissed on in the way we normally do. Bobby Moncur wasnt impressed with Oba, although he scored, hit the post from a very tight angle and from what I saw on match of the day, played quite well…that on top of his co commentator saying he’d played well and the away fans chanting his name. Some of these ‘legends’ are unjustly critisising Oba IMO. Lastly, its only Sheff Utd, but we should have been saying that when they played us at SJP. We won, the seasons over. Not happy with the exclusion of the zog and the constant inclusion of the multi-flawed Stephen Carr, also the introduction of Gooch for Solano with 8 minutes left baffled the tits off me. I’ll leave it at that before I go into a ‘does Roeder really know what he’s doing rant’…no is the answer IMO BTW.

Oh Aye, and does anyone know how to join the N-O messageboard without having an ISP email address, the banters class but Ive only got hotmail and yahoo emails.

  6. Can someone please inform Glen Roeder to stop making stupid comments.
his latest?Well “Parker is the man I would have in the trenches”!What a load of bollocks.
Glen should be asking for players to get in the penalty box never mind the trenches, more to the point he should make them practice shooting 24/7.
how many goals are we getting from the midfielders?
Butt,N’Zogbia,Dyer etc should all have a lot more goals than they have produced.
We are going no-where unless a top manager with a top coaching team arrive.

  7. Pleasing result for once, although its just one game, and i cannot help think that we will get trounced from arsenal on monday, i mean shef utd arent exactly the best team in the world, and either team could have won the game.

  8. Ya it was a good game like. I thought they were going to score on a couple of occasions, especially at the end, but thankfully Given was there. Martins eventually broke the drought and his scoring drought. He was good, Duff was good aswell..good game though.

Well, the next 6 games, we probally wont get relegated and we probally wont get to Europe but what we can do is piss the opposition. When I say that I mean, like we’ve Arsenal who are fighting for third, we should of beat them the last time, if it wasn’t for an unatural Henry free kick that hit the under of the crossbar and went in, only way Given was being beaten that day.
We’ve Portsmouth, then Chelsea and nothing would please me more to beat them, that would have an affect on top again. Blackburn and Watford.

If we play well and win. We can really cause some mayhem if we beat Arsneal and Cheslea..I just really want to see Mourinhio squirm, if we beat the bigger clubs, and the not so good ones by finishing on a high and playing well for the rest of the games. That’ll give us something to do. To aim for.

  9. For me, a Geordie living in Sheffield who’s Mrs is a Sheffield United fan, this was by far and away the best moment of the season for me.

Me and the Mrs went to the game together and sat in the Sheffield United stand above the away section. I have to admit I felt like I was on my way to a funeral and expected defeat… But wow! That was a sweet match…! Really bit my lip to stay quiet when we scored both our goals, but whishpered sarcasm in the Mrs’s ear both times… Magic.

Felt a bit strage coming out of the ground though…. I was in an England shirt and my Mrs was in her Sheff Utd shirt, so some of our lads obviously thought I was a Sheff Utd fan as well and gave me some vrebals. Loudly said “No need to take the piss lads, I’m a Geordie.” They didn’t seem to bright, bless them and were very confused by this…!

But great performance, tactics were spot on, as was selection.

    Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

More of the same on Monday. 7th spot and the inter-toto is still possible.

  10. I was at Sheffield yesterday and it doesn’t change anything for me I’m afraid, yes of course I’m pleased with the result but any half decent side would have scored 4 or 5. Tactics negative substitution baffling, players didnt know wot was going on motivation of the team nil this guy will eventually take us down he is an absolute clown we are sleep walking into future relegation as for someone saying Sheff U were outclassed dont make me laff.

  11. im happy with the result i thought oba martins was outstanding and duff actually played well i would of like to keron dyer start aswel as charlie n zogbia,i also think we need a new manager some1 hu has the exsperiance of A.ferguson.and i fink its bout time roder offers milner an n zogbia a new contract. we need to get rid off emre, bramble, luque and carr i think we need to get good defenders because our forwards are awesome an our midfield is to an defintlly dont need a new goal keeper becuase we simply have the prems best keeper with given. :)

  12. strikin department is pretty good when fit, midfield could be better in the centre, as in a quick creative player but the midfield is ok in my opinion.

The defence is just a joke, taylor [shouldnt be a starter however] is our only decent player and even he is starting to look very cocky these days which i dont like to see.

since i can remember i have never seen newcastle attempt to sort out the defence apart from when we signed Woodgate, after about 17 years of watching newcastle united iv hardly ever seen a proper attempt to sort out a totaly crap defence, and i am pretty certain we will have the same issues at the end of next season.

This win just papers over the cracks, give glen one more season [ even tho hes not good enough] and if it doesnt work out i think freddy should do honourable thing and resign, along with roeder and we should look for a expereince reliable manager who can handle the pressure, they are out ther i just dont think the chairman wants to be out of the limelight, so we have second rate managers i.e he caused bobby loads of problems when he started getting newcastle great again i.e. saying he wouldnt be offerd new contract forcing us to finish 5th.

    sack freddy.
