Your Shout: Blackburn 1-3 NUFC - Have Your Say - Write In
By N.O On Sun 10 Dec 2006 |
Newcastle made it 3 wins from 3 in the Premiership yesterday afternoon with a stunning 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park pushing us onto 19 points for the season and importantly, away from the drop zone.
Who was your man of the match? Who played bad? What does this win do for our season? Is this the start of a late push up the table or is this mini-run just papering over the cracks? Write in and have your say to get your views published.

Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle :((

Nicky Butt having form of his life, let’s hope it continues. I think a possible draw for tonight, Shevchenko won’t like it when Taylor clatters him and Drogba injured, anything is possible with the belief in the team.

If a foreinger comes to the Toon, I will eat my own shit.

Seeing Oba in that form, knowing his finishing and decisions in front of goal will only improve and then thinking about a refreshed and faster Michael Owen by his side gives me a massive horn! …(because of the football ability)

Great win! Oba is in the form, but “we” have too many injuries :\
I hope we’ll win or draw with Chelsea on Wednesday.
Nice day all of you.

Well done lads, another 3 points. I wonder if we get some kind of group discount from the treatment room?

Hi, I don’t know if there is a better forum, but feel free to email me at [email protected]

Thanks. That was helpful. I knew Rossi was on loan from Manchester and I knew that he was restricted from playing in the UEFA Cup but I didn’t know why. So the UEFA (or somebody) prevents players from playing for more than one team. Presumably so he doesn’t get loaned all over Blighty for various trips to the continent. Have I got it right? By the way, is there a better forum here for asking these sorts of general questions?

Decent showing but we need to learn to kill games off and be comfortable when we are winning.
As for our American friend: A transfer is when a player leaves one club to go to another usually requiring a fee to the selling club. Transfers in the Premiership can be from £1million to £30 million depending on the pedigree of the player. For instance Martins was bought from Inter Milan with a price that was agreed by the two clubs at £10million (Around $20 million). Transfers can only be conducted during close season (summer) and for approximately 2 weeks into the season. The transfer window then closes until January, for 1 month only. In between these times transfers can be agreed but the player may not move until the window reopens, unless he is not contracted to any club.
For loans, these vary greatly. Sometimes clubs pay a loan fee or agree to pay the players wages during his loan spell with another club. The player maybe shipped out due to the loaning club wanting him to gain regular first team football or they may simply be a trouble maker they don’t want around for a while. This usually lasts for 3-12 months. Each loan is unique as the clubs agree terms to the loan. For instance Rossi is currently at Newcastle and his terms state he cannot play in Europe for Newcastle (if he did he would then be cup tied and unable to play for Man Utd when he returns in January). - Hope this explains a few things!! Always happy to help!

Good showing from the lads yesterday but I’m concerned about the injuries. I’m new to English Football (I’m in the States, grew up playing ‘Soccer’, but have only recently started following it at the professional level) and I’m not sure how the the side will fill the spots. I assume reserves get promoted and the like but how do transfers and loans work? It sounds like transfers can only happen during a couple of windows throughout the season. Have I got that right? How do loans work? That’s something that we don’t have here in the States (in any of our pro sports).

We badly needed that, bearing in mind the next game!
I’m surprised Martins got so much criticism on forums (before the game) because he’s always looked useful to me: pacy and lively. Okay, he misses quite a few and loses possession sometimes but he’ll get better and I was pleased it came good for him yesterday.
With players like Dyer, Martins, Zog and Milner around we can afford (and need) that slower and intelligent kind of striker like Sib. Viduka would probably do much better for us than Boro too, if we sign him, so I don’t think fans should be too disappointed if we do.
Glad Huntington’s been broken in as well….

A much better performance from everyone and I was very impressed with Martins; he could have had another couple of goals if he wasn’t rugby-tackled by Henchoz and he was wide open for a cut-back from Milner if he hadn’t taken the shot on himself as well.
More injuries to Emre, Sib and Sol, this is getting ridiculous! They’re going to have to build an extension onto the treatment room!

It’s a bit of both.
We are still a team that requires surgery but we have some very good aspects too, so it’s lookin better but still a long way off.
Howay the lads.
