As you may or may not be aware, talk of protesting against the club in regards to the events of the past few weeks is currently being readily discussed amongst Newcastle fans and fan-sites alike.

As a platform for the views of all United fans, Newcastle-Online.com does not hold a particular opinion in either favour in regards to the possible protesting. There are so many differing views and opinions as to the best, and most potentially productive, courses of action that we can’t possibly advocate in favour of any specific type of protest.

All we can do is provide you, the reader, with the information available so for those who wish to register their protest, there are a number of options being put forward by other supporter organisations and those are detailed below:

1. An immediate and indefinite boycott of all Newcastle United merchandise to include replica shirts, other club clothing and any items sold at official NUFC outlets, including…Newcastle United programmes and magazines as well as food, drinks and beverages of any description…raffle tickets, lotteries…Shearer’s Bar as well as club cafes, official club tours [and] visits to the NUFC museum.

2. This boycott to be extended to any retail outlet or product owned either in full or in part by Mike Ashley e.g. Sports Soccer, Lillywhites etc.

3. Supporters vocally expressing their disgust against the current regime whether they are at the match or not.

4. [The agreement] that Mike Ashley does not attend away games amongst the travelling support.

One thing that is clear from all parties is that there is absolutely no condoning of any violent or illegal action whatsoever.

Potential protestors have also insisted that the team must not be affected by any actions taken - meaning no boycott of the Hull City game or any game following on from that. The team still deserve the support of all Newcastle United fans.

Those fans who have had a little wager on Sam Allardyce being the next manager of Newcastle United know what they have to do today - tear up their betting slip.

The bookies make Big Sam third favourite behind Martin O’Neill and Roberto Mancini, but there is no way the United supporters will want to see their team playing the way Bolton play - even if it’s another 50 years before they win a trophy.

In fact, it’s a good job Alan Green, the Radio Five man who called Bolton’s football ugly and fell out with Allardyce, wasn’t at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Ugly? That was almost playing Bolton a compliment. It was joyless, brutal stuff, especially compared with some of the one-touch football United played at times.

What a difference a year makes…

Written by Alan Oliver on May 17 2007

I remember Bolton beating United at the Reebok on the last day of October in 2004. It was Graeme Souness’ first reverse as United manager after seven wins and a couple of draws.

Souness came across to me just outside the United dressing room and started bleating about Bolton’s tactics.

My immediate reaction was to think “well, you are paid £2m a year to come up with ideas to combat whatever tactics opposing managers may throw at you”.

The Bolton brand of football has been perceived as functional, physical, long-ball and unattractive.

Allardyce’s response to those jibes was always the same.

If Chelsea played that way, it was fashionable. If Bolton followed a similar path, it was grubby.

It doesn’t surprise anyone here at N.O to see the two-faced Mr Oliver arse lick the new manager Sam Allardyce who it is hoped sees right through the Chronicle and Newcastle United employee for what he is.

Mind he isn’t the only one doing a U-turn…

If you can remember any similar Alan Oliver contradictions, wide of the mark reports or other general nonsense, send them in and we’ll publish them.

With Big Sam Allardyce being linked with Glenn Roeder’s job here at United on a daily basis by all and sundry, we thought we’d get YOUR views on the matter so use the poll to your right to vote on the topic and of course, write in using the comment form to share your views and have your say.

For Immediate Release – 16 February 2007

FOOTBALL FANS LAUNCH PETITION AGAINST “RIPOFF TICKET PRICES

Football fans throughout England & Wales have launched an online petition against ripoff ticket prices in the game. Commenting on the petition launch FSF Chair Malcolm Clarke, a Stoke City supporter, said, “Supporters in this country are sick to the back teeth of being ripped off.

My own club has just had a game at St Andrews against Birmingham City moved from Saturday at 3.00pm to Sunday at 11.30am with eight days’ notice. Despite this surreal kickoff time for a professional football match we were still expected to pay £30 a ticket in the Stoke end for the privilege. It’s absolutely shameless. I’ve made an official complaint about this to both clubs and the League.

Steve Bruce talking to the Journal speaks about nearly quitting Birmingham City to take over at Newcastle:

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has admitted he nearly quit at the start of the 2003-04 season to take over at Newcastle.

The former Manchester United defender was an avid supporter of the Magpies as a youngster.

Bruce said: “People associate me with Manchester United but I am a Newcastle United fan, my family is from Newcastle and I used to crawl under the turnstiles to watch them play. I had the chance to manage them but felt loyalty to the people I work for here at Birmingham.

Bruce has now been in charge at St Andrew’s for five years and would like to complete a decade at the helm.

“The five years seem to have gone in a flash,” said Bruce, who led the side to the Premiership in his first season but suffered relegation last term. “Let’s hope I can do another five years, that’s the aim.”

Freddy ShepherdChairman Freddy Shepherd has spoken of his delight with manager Glenn Roeder over the past few weeks, Shepherd said:

“I have supported Newcastle United for over 50 years but never in that time can I recall such a run of injuries as we are experiencing now.

“Yet in my meetings with Glenn Roeder, I have to say he has never used this as an excuse for any bad performance and he has always kept his head up and in recent weeks.

“The manager, his staff and the players have really done a fantastic job for this football club in the most difficult of circumstances.

“This is our 29th game of the season so far, and to have an unbeaten eight-match run when we have been playing in the Premiership and kept our hopes alive in Europe and the Carling Cup at the same time is some achievement.

“This was always going to be a difficult season for us going into it for the first time without Alan Shearer and then Michael Owen being injured before a ball was kicked, and while obviously we are looking for a higher Premiership placing, the board cannot complain at the recent efforts of the management and players.

“Indeed, if I did not know that Glenn Roeder is a cockney from east London, I would say he was one of us because he shows all the qualities of a Geordie.”

Newcastle made it 3 wins from 3 in the Premiership yesterday afternoon with a stunning 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park pushing us onto 19 points for the season and importantly, away from the drop zone.

Goals in either half from Antoine Sibierski and Steven Taylor saw Newcastle recover from a first-half Nestor Cannobio goal to seal safe passage into the knockout stages of the Eufa Cup.

What do you think of Newcastle’s impeccable European record this season? Is Europe an unnecessary distraction given current domestic difficulties? Where should Newcastle’s priorities lie? Have your say.

Newcastle earned a draw at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon against an on-form Arsenal. The 1-1 scoreline allowed the Magpies to climb out of the relegation zone ahead of Sheffield United who lost today. There appears to be more injury woe however with Craig Moore taken off near the end with a suspected hamstring problem. Could our squad get anymore paper thin?
