Your Shout: Newcastle Utd 2-1 Liverpool - Have Your Say!
By A.K. Dholakia On Sat 10 Feb 2007 |
52,305 frozen but brave spectators saw the returning Craig Bellamy gifted an early 6th minute goal, before Obafemi Martins levelled up on 26 minutes. It was Nolberto Solano who gave Newcastle the eventual win however, with a coolly taken penalty after Steven Taylor had been tripped in the box in the 70th minute.
Have your say!

Loved watchin Thompson cry his little heart out, ‘the balls at the wrong end of the pitch!’ No it fuckin werent mate. Unfortunately missed out on lawro’s misery on motd. Come on now lads back this up with a performance at woeful wigan then beat the smoggies. ps. bramble is SHITE!!, dosent deserve to wear the shirt, in despite of his problems still dont believe baba is good enough either, however gooch looks good, martins is a fucking god, hopefully his favourite number will be 207 in a couple of years time!!
Come on you magpies, long may carr stay injured!!!

To be honest we should have been dead and buried by half time, bellamy’s finishing, as we know, is not the best, as a forward he does not score enough goals for a team that hopes to win the league. I know Glen gets lots of stick but what a change in the second half. To you experts out there, what was the difference tactically? Did Glen change it around and inspire a second half improvement. A great win anyway.

Being restricted to watching SkySports centre and not attending on Saturday, I took great delight in Phil Thompson’s misery.
A bad tempered red scouser who obviously hates Geordies. A fine choice for a “totally nuetral Sky commentator”.
Took great delight in his misery and him continualy saying “the ball was at the wrong end” when we attacked.
Even got a telling off from the mrs when I jumped up and screamed a load of abuse about scousers at the telly (something like “YYYEEEEEAAAAHHH. Take that you f***ing scouse f***ing w***er”). Can’t upset the neighbours…..

I’m fucking ecstatic… couldn’t believe it, fuck off Phil Thompson and Mark Lawrenson - wankers.
Solano, what can you say? A Toon legend.
Martins best buy of the summer without a shadow of a doubt and Owen can’t wait.
HARPER FOR ENGLAND. I’ve said it for weeks the guy is brilliant would break into any Prem team but I suppose you wouldn’t want to leave Tyneside now would you.
Gooch not sure, looked solid but give it time could be another Bramble. Top defenders don’t go on loan not even Bramble, haha. Talkin of them why is there so much fate in them, Taylor has provin what is needed and that’s a local boy’s hunger for the club same along with Ramage.
Next five games look winnable, they will determine Europe or not.
Bring on Wigan the worst fans in England maybe even UK.
Hahaha
Howay the lads

I couldn’t see who was the captain becasue Parker didn’t have the armband on! Who was the captain for this game!? Please tell me!!

I was on here after the Fulham game giving Parker stick. He has proved me wrong for this game. He and butt kept Gerrard and Sissoko at bay. I want them to go on and boss more games from midfield. Solano must start the next premier league games against wigan and the smoggies as he is a technically brilliant player that can open up premier league defences. A coulple of games in hopefully in two weeks time we are in the next round of the UEFA cup and hopefully we are looking at a good run in the league that will take us to the european places we should actually be at. Our fixtures over the next month are not bad by premier league standards and games we should be picking up points from.

Very pleasing result. After watching the match and then watching match of the day I thought their coverage was an unfair reflection. First half Liverpool were the better team. Regardless of the result Bramble was shocking. Wasnt too impressed with Taylor, but as he was playing at right back I think we can let him off on that one. Second half Liverpool had a few chances but we were the better team, no doubt. I didnt want to say it during the game in fear of jinxing it, but that didnt seem like the Liverpool were used to seeing. We played the posession football and fairly won in my eyes. Parker seemed back to his battling ways and although he was still giving free kicks away I think another ref would have allowed his challenges. Martins was great, Im chuffed with the way he’s played since joining us, him and Dyer give us that dynamic that can really hurt teams in normal play or on the break. Any injuries to both would be a huge blow. Well done to Baba for playing with whats been going on. I didnt think he played excellent, as Roeder said. But considering the circumstances he played well. Gooch looks good too.
No doubt we’ll go and lose to Wigan next week though. We’ve got to be the most unpredicatble team in the league….no change there then.

Would have been happy with a draw. Delighted with the win. Agree about Carr remaining injured for as long as possible. Was it a penalty or was it not. Couln’t gie a tom tit, live with it we usally have to as Newcastle fans. Well done lads and put a few of these type of performances together. Even to lose with a decent effort is better than not showing up the week after a good win.

Do we have a gem of a player in Martins or not?
Scores 10 goals with very little service.
Wait untill he’s teamed with a decent strike partner and given decent service from the wings/midfield.

I thought Scott Parker was powerful, commanding, showed great heart, technical ability etc… what a tremendous captain!

Judging from the football first highlights Onyewu looked impressive, very good in the air but really mobile aswell. Agree about Taylor playing cb, Nobby rb, and Duff starting on the left, although to be fair apart from a few hiccups Bramble looked ok. We really need to build up some momentum though, it would be typical us to go and completely fold at Wigan.

Well done lads, well and truly deserved it… Liverpool put everything to us in the first half but we rode are luck and completely outplayed the most on form team in the prem… Looking good now without Carr, but Bramble is too shakey… Lets see Taylor and Gooch (who looks a great find). Oba is shit hot too, if he’s better next season, with Owen we could have the meanest strikeforce in the Prem. Shore up the defence still though cos we rode our luck, Sol, Gooch, Taylor, new lb. Good win lads

I spoke to one of the stewards before the game as we watched a lone groundsman with a small roller try to remove surface water from the pitch, ‘Unprofessional even the cricket lot have got a motorised one!’ A bad pitch penalises the better teams, the quagmire tactic was sometimes used as a ploy by some clubs as a tactical measure and seen to greatest effect at Hereford circa the ‘invasion of the Parka’s’.
Before the Neanderthal Jamboree gets into full swing, a moment of contemplation, it is possible for a poor side to beat a good side; it’s what makes this game so difficult to bet on. We’ve had some of our best and most unexpected results from the top teams, which may give a false impression that we have a good side that doesn’t need strengthening at the back or front. I hope no-one at this club is resting on their Laurels. The only way we can hope to compete with the ever enlarging group of clubs who are bypassing us in the fast lane is to do our homework, have a professional set up, with intelligent people running it from the top down, this overview plan has a major flaw there is no provision for Shepherd in it.

Fantastic! I almost hid beind the barstool everytime Titus got the ball but otherwise a great (close) win!
For me Taylor cb, Nobby rb and Duff left wing would be better.
Sent in on: February 10th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
What a b-day gift from the lads! What we need are more Ireland Friendlies to keep Carr injured so Nobby can be assured of playing full time. Good to see him do well again after that nonsense last week. Howay the Toon!

Probably manager of the month curse but get it up all the Scousers. All the panel on Sky had Liverpool to win ha ha ha Phil Thomo

Yes, yes , yes, we win again. Maritns has become more used to Newcastle’s way of playing football, nice score!
Hopefully they do their best to get at least top 6 of the table.
Ganbate NU!

Great win, and I think Gooch may be just what the doctor ordered for Newcastle. He was very tough in the middle, and looks like a real find.

Can’t wait to hear what Lawro has to say on his BBC predictions…
‘Liverpool were extremely unlucky at Newcastle, they’ll win their next game 4-0′
‘Newcastle had unbelievable luck last week, I think they’ll lose 3-0, I hate the bastards’
Prick.

Great result for the toon army, I’d expect nothing less than a win against an average Liverpool side. Pennant who’s he? And Zenden again who’s he and anotherone Craig Bellamy. Haha, wiped the smile of his face. Glad he’s gone, nothing but trouble too overrated, overpaid slob, but the guy who’s took his place Oba Martins, what a player. Another goal, again starting to show, his form that made Newcastle pay £10m for him and then we have still Owen to come back. Can’t wait to see them two link up, should be a great partnership both world class strikers. Wigan next, hopefully another win but with Newcastle you never know. Hopefully give the team confidence after today’s win and hopefully a top six finish will be on the cards. Onwards and upwards. Toon Army!

Not even a manager like Wenger, Ferguson or Maurino can win a title or cope with the strikers of lfc, they are all EXCEPT PROFFESIONALs, you can’t blame the manager all the time if he has players who are not efficient at all, and miss golden opportunities, not one but several opportunities!!!
Even the other lads of the team for sure would have had been disappointed and lose all hopes from their striking teamates…
Simply a well deserved loss for Liverpool after missing so many occasions, right after the 3rd miss I already knew lfc will lose this match, you can’t win if you don’t score!!!

Can’t agree more about Match of the Day!!! That smug fock Mark Lawenson can blame everything bar a solid, hard working, gut busting, firm defended Newcastle victory.
Happy, happy, joy, joy.
