Luque scores the winner

While we go from bad to worse at home in the Premiership, in Europe we keep getting better and better and boy was this a result and a performance from the lads and the management. To beat a classy Serie A side 1-0 like we did was nothing short of magnificent - a truly brilliant and unexpected win. Typical Toon you could say.

An under-strength United put in a terrific performance to beat Italian high fliers Palermo in Sicily 1-0. Albert Luque’s goal in the 37th minute from a wonderful James Milner cross gave us a lead which we held onto after 3 magnificent 2nd half saves from young Dutch debutant Tim Krul.

The win puts us on maximum points from 2 games and in a fantastic position to qualify, with 2 comparatively easier games to follow - at home to Celta Vigo and away to Eintracht Frankfurt, who drew 1-1 tonight in Spain.
