Robson was the manager when I first started following Newcastle (I live in Washington State in the US). The team was successful, fun to watch and there seemed to be a good relationship between him, the players (with one or two exceptions) and the fans. The thing is, I think he could have worked through the Bellamy and Robert situations, but wasn’t given enough time to do so. Anyway, I wish him all the best!

Sir Bob is an example to every manager in the game today - Mourinho for one should take note of the respect he had for other managers and players.
The only time I remember Bobby showing signs of anger when speaking to the media was after the 3-1 win away against Arsenal, where Henry lost it after the game. When Bobby was interviewed, he hit the nail right on the head about Arsenal - ’some people around here need to learn how to lose.’ He was such a gentleman and understood everything about football.
I would go into memorable games but I think they’ve been mentioned already - 2-2 at Inter, 4-3 Man Utd, 3-1 Arsenal, 1-0 Juventus etc etc
All in all it was the wrong decision to sack Sir Bobby after about 6 games of the season - absolutely ludicrous as the club has gone nowhere but backwards ever since he left.
I hope Bobby gets through this again as I’m sure he will, and I hope we see him at some more games at St James’ in the future, in hopefully more positive circumstances than the current situation!

First Sir Bob is a gentleman and almost too good for modern football. He is a strong and determined man. I am confident that he will overcome his current fight with cancer.
Remembering his years at NUFC, there were many up and down moments. However, with the passing of time, everything about Bobby was class. In that way all of the memories are outstanding. Having said that beating ManUntd and watching Shearer laugh a t Roy Keane was beautiful.
Cheers Sir Bob.

My best memory with Sir Bobby is probably the 4-3 game against Man U..what an afternoon!
The CL game in Feyenoord when Bellamy scored was also a memorable occasion…and also the last homegame the season 03/04 against Brums, when Viana scored..thats a qaulity last game unlike this one…

Both James Collins, & L make a good point - there are too many memories to list a favourite.
As James says, if we lost, you knew Bobby felt it just as much as the fans did - and that was because he was a geordie himself.
This club needs a manager who knows what it means to be a part of this club. I was gutted to see him go.
Thank you for all you have given us & all the best to the legend that is Sir Bobby Robson.

The best Toon Manager in my opinion. It’s a shame he isn’t still here.
The best moment would have to be the 1-0 win over Juventus at Home and the 2-2 draw at the San Siro. Really great memories that he’s given us all.
All the best Sir Bob, Get Well Soon, You’re the Greatest x

Bobby definately brought the feel good factor back to St James.
He revived the clubs fortunes and we played some of the best football in the recent times of the football club under his leadership.
I just wish Bobby had arrived after Keegan left,with the likes of Ferdinand, Ginola etc still at the club.
Instead he arrived with the club in dissaray but a couple of seasons later Newcastle were back in the Champions League. Quite a remarkable feat.
I wish Bobby all the best, he’s strong and a fighter and he’ll battle this all the way.
All the best Bobby.

There are probably too many to list! Here are just a couple:-
* Sticking 8 past Shef Wed in his first home game
* Beating Arsenal at Highbury
* The home game against Villa where we ran them ragged and Shearer scored that volley
* Beating Man Utd 4-3
* Beating the SMB’s at the Stadium of Sh*te
* The Feyenoord game
The best for me though probably has to be the Champions League game against Inter. We really held our own in the San Siro and should have won. A pretty proud moment for any Newcastle fan.

Every single second of Sir Bobby Robson’s reign at Newcastle was great, even when we lost.
After each defeat, you knew that Sir Bobby was hurting as much as you were, and would do everything in his power to turn things around, and given his managerial ability, he’d always manage to change things for the better.
Things only started going wrong when Freddy Shepherd took some of that power away from him.
All the best, Sir Bobby Robson.
