Will you be renewing your season ticket?
By James Collins On Sun 6 May 2007 |
As the dust settles in the aftermath of an appalling last home game of an extremely dissappointing season, we would like to know your views on the following questions: Will you be renewing your season ticket for next season? What will it take for you to even consider renewal? Are you going to stop going to matches altogether? Will you even stop buying official club merchandise such as the new home shirt? Have your say.

ALL YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. YOU SHOULD STICK BY THE CLUB THROUGH THICK AND THIN. A MAJORITY OF THE FANS ARE TO BLAME WITH ALL THE NEGATIVITY AROUND THE CLUB.

Leaving the match yesterday i said I won’t be renewing if GR is still there. So it looks as though I will renew. Whoever comes in has a massive job there is so much deadwood to be removed.
From yesterdays 11 only Milner and Owen can be assured of there shirt number next season. The others should be open to offers.
Harper not as good as we thought
Carr not good enough
Gooch not good enough
Bramble not good enough
Solano coming to the end of a fantastic career.
Butt not sure
Parker will screw himself into the pitch the way he keeps turning.
Dyer disgraceful
Milner YES
Owen YES
Martins 1st touch awful, bit of a headless chicken.
Big Sam wouldn’t be my 1st choice however he is much better than GR. Van Gall or the guy from Sevilla.

Dave
Thats your perogotive m8 dont renew but to say i,m having a laugh then its you my friend who are deluded this is far from a laughing matter, it hasnt been for a few years but will you be back when the good times come around I THINK SO.And to compare the football team you have supported all your life to a dodgy electrical appliance shows what kind of fan you are.
I will support them through thick and thin,i may not like what they do but they are MY team and that will never change.
Roeder has now gone which to truthful is a plus but the blame cant always be put solely at the managers feet, players get paid huge amounts to play and we have too many prima donas who arnt working hard enough. Also one last point what exactly do Lee Clark and Terry mac do for the club? They will both be on a biggish wage, what exactly do they do to earn this money? I,ll tell you why they are there JOBS FOR THE OLD BOYS and for a club our size we cant afford to think like that any more.Dont get me wrong I like the pair of them and will always respect what they did as players but are they of the Calibre that this club needs to take us forward I THINK NOT.
From top to bottom we have problems and we need to start being a bit more proffesional in our attitude.Cut the dead wood and keep the good

I think my relationship to NUFC is very much like a Victorian marriage i.e. no matter how bad it gets, you can’t get out of it. There’s a common misconception that Newcastle fans demand success, we don’t. We’d certainly like success but what we do demand is that the players try and that everybody connected with the club moves forward together - this hasn’t been happening for years.
Will I pay £500 to be miserable every second Saturday afternoon next year. At the moment I’m not really sure. It pains me to say it but no doubt I’ll be delude myself again and renew my season ticket. I’ve always said that if I supported the club because they were succesful I would have given up years ago, but this lot really take the piss and they’ve been doing it season after season. Some of the players clearly don’t give a shit. Roeder and Shepherd obviously do care but you need more then a positive attitude to run a successful football club

Yes I will be getting my two season tickets for next season. I am 49 years old I have followed the Toon for all the years I can remember and always will till the day I die. I have lived away from the North East in various parts of the country for 31 years and still attended most home and a lot of away games over the years. I am proud to be a Geordie and I love my club. Time though for a change of manager not the board. All managers have been appointed with the best of intentions by the board so I don’t blame them for the shite on the pitch at the moment. Things will get better so come on you will only waste your cash on something less important. We’ll support you evermore

I have been a season ticket holder for a good few years now. We obviously have problems in selecting good managers since Keegan left. Bobby Robson had he not been sacked would have taken us to better heights. I think one of the clubs major problems is Dyer. This club has paid this guy an absolute fortune in wages and spent a fortune to get him back to full health. In return he has given this club and the fans nothing. he makes it quite ovious he wants to be away from this club.
I also feel that Roeders tactics are totally wrong. Martins is a great buy, but he isn’t getting the right service and Roeder seems to have no idea what’s gong on in defence. Shay Given must be totally frustrated. I will never stop buying my season ticket as i love football and i love this club. I know we will et it right one day. I’m sure Mr. Shepherd is now starting to ralise the fans can’t take any more. I also think the fans should appreciate how much Freddy has actually done for this club worldwide.

read peter charltons comment above and mate are you having a laugh??
let me put this in perspective for you. right, you buy a product lets say a tele for example and its sh*t and theres no warranty or insurance so uve blown ur money and you have to keep it for a year all the time its still sh*t. Next year the same company brings out the same tele but 50 quid extra….would you buy it??? No you wont becos its a rip off and thats what newcastle is today. i wont be renewing my season ticket because freddy seemed to think 596 pound was the right price for 7th place last year and with no guarantees that its going to be frozen or lowered they can shove those fancy little credit card shaped season tickets right where the sun dont shine. fans on saturday werent as angry as usual because most of them after decades without a sniff of success have just gave up. why should we waste so much money, energy and passion on a team that doesnt show any of the energy or passion on the pitch

Well I for one WILL be renewing my season ticket.Saturdays without the match is unthinkable,ok this season and a few others have been very disapointing but what the hell are we another lot of Part time fans who only follow the team when things are going our way? We supposedly have the best fans in the country yet all i hear on this forum is people who are gonna throw thier tickets away.Well I hope this is just born out of frustration and you guys are not serious coz when your club is in Crisis which we clearly are the only thing thats gonna pull us through is a United front.
A half full SJP is a thought i could not contemplate and would make us an even easier target for the Man U ,chelsea ,Sunderland fans than we already are.
So come on guys get behind your team and if thats too much to do then give your season Ticket to someone who will and stay away, the only positive this club has at the minute are its great supporters lets not lose that.

If you saw Roeder’s interview on MOTD it says the lot. Stuttering, trembling lip, charisma by-pass.
We continually give the ball away and are clueless with set pieces - exactly what does Roeder do during the week?
Whatever anyone says, we actually have the basis of a decent squad of players but no tactics, no direction.
And yes I will renew my season tickets - just one more time mind!

NO! NOT A CHANCE! ABSOLUTELY NOT! WHY PAY £500 TO WATCH MY BELOVED TEAM GET RELEGATED NEXT YEAR, BECAUSE THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT’LL HAPPEN WITH DOT COTTON IN CHARGE. AND FORGET ABOUT FAT SAM TAKING CHARGE WE NEED A REAL DISCIPLINARIAN AT THE CLUB. MY SHOUT WOULD BE TIO BREAK THE BANK FOR OTTMAR HITZFELD OR LOUIS VAN GAAL, AND CASH IN ON ALL EXCEPT TAYLOR, MILNER, EDGAR, OWEN AND MARTINS.

cannot believe roeder would play those two in the centre of defence.
everytime we have played the young guy we have had a positive effort.
this is a disgrace, i have to work over a year just to earn what some of those players earn in a week!

Not a chance!! im sick to death of having to get up on a saturday morning to go to watch this utter rubbish, the travelling bak is even worse. This season i hav only missed 3 games all season home and away. wudnt like to start to count how much i hav spent to go and watch this shite!
Its time for roeder to go now, surely fat shep must realise by now the fans arent happy with this as we hav voiced our opinions in the last few home games!
He hasnt a clue how to go about being manager of newastle. yesturday was the chance to show the fans, the players who r goin to b there next season, playing bramble and gooch at the bak wen there isnt a hope for them next season is wrong. we hav nothing to play for so y not huntington and edgar again.
Shepherd OUT!!! and dont get big sam in!!!!!

Normski you make the perfect point.
It is no secret that some of our best performances this season have been when we have played the youngsters at the back:
a) 2-2 v Man Utd on New Years Day when we had Taylor Huntington & Edgar across the back with Solano - Edgar scores
b) 3-2 v Spurs 2 weeks later with Ramage, Taylor & Huntington across the back with Solano - Huntington scores
c) 3-1 v Villa 2 weeks later - Huntington put in a sterling performance.
Yes Taylor is already established but to have all these academy graduates playing together - and playing well - is a positive.
It has been obvious that Bramble, Carr, Babyaro have little or no future at the club, and bringing Onyewu in who was only eligible for 12 games was pointless as he hardly played, so why not keep the youngsters in - they could have established themselves like Taylor (and to some extent Ramage) as first team players. They would have gave it more than some of those shambles of players at the back.
V Watford next weekend we should play:
Krul
Solano, Taylor, Huntington, Edgar
Milner, Pattison, N’Zogbia, O’Brien
Carroll, Owen
We have nothing to lose and those youngsters will give more than anyone else.

Can someone please tell me the benefit of playing Bramble and Gooch in the last home game of the season when it’s obvious neither will be here next year? Surely it was an ideal opportunity to play the likes of Edgar, Huntingdon or Ramage?

Not until the fat man and the halls go will i return and the laddies will just have to wait for their chance to because i’m not taking them to the match and getting them hooked so that’s a loss of 3 fans there fat man. God knows what i’ll do with myself but i’m sure i’ll manage. Gutted!!!

After 55 years of support and experience of many similar situations, I have no confidence in the whole set up at St. James’s Park.
My confidence has been waining for some time and looking back the writing has been on the wall a long time.
Roeder and all the staff make noises about how good players like Ameobie are and this makes me realise that they must have no idea what the basic requirements of a footballer are - namely to be able to control the ball for a start.
Matins suffers badly from the same fault.
As soon as the ball goes forward to these two it comes straight back due to their inability to control the ball.
Roeder frequently selects players who are right footed to play on the left - basic mistake.
We have badly needed a left back for some time and no action has been taken. WE have needed a centre half for some time and no action has been taken.
Deep down Roeder must have no confidence in his players because he regularly selcts a 4 - 5 - 1 formation which immediately hands to initiative to the opposition.
The players seem to switch off very easily, and are now used to getting away with it, whenever they go bahind.
Everything must change before they can expect season tickets to be renewed - Chairman - too many mistakes in appointments. Manager - tactics woeful - no respect from players who get away with no application, week after week.
The managers staff who must contribute to all this stuff and are just sailing along picking up a nice packet.

I can not believe that I am writing this for after 55 years of supporting Newcastle through thick and thin I have had enough!
I travel a 400 mile round trip to attend home games and the drive back has now become unbearable.
Unless there are major changes and not false promises during the clse season I will not be re-newing my 3 season tickets no doubt Shepherd will not be bothered as all he and his cohourts do is look around the stadium and see full seats and decided they do not need to do anything as long as that is the case.
With me this season I have been attending to watch the opposition not the home team.
Things have got to change if we are not to reverse roles with Sunderland next season and be a struggling championship team under Mt Roder.
Sent in on: May 6th, 2007 at 9:23 am
I am a season ticket holder and have been for almost 17 years, as long as roeder is in charge the club will continue its current dissent down to the championship, no tactics, no passion, no organisation, no obvious idea from the manager, obvioulsy poor training, poor coaching etc etc the list goes on.
I wont be renewing if there is not a major clear out and I am not only talking about the leeches aka bramble, babayaro, carr, bernard, luque etc but the manager, coaching staff the whole lot, WHAT DOES McDermott do? i’d like to be on his wages. The problem is I dont think Shepherd has the Balls to sack roeder as fingers will point at shepherd for the initial appointment, I can only hope roeder falls on his sword, it will be the best decision he will have made in a long time.
I felt so guilty yesterday as I was actually willing b’burn to get a second so that the heat is turned up on roeder and shepherd and in my current mood I will probably doing the same next weekend when we troop out at watford, you know now they are going to get beaten and that is a sad sad situation.

Will I be renewing my season ticket? If we keep Roeder in charge then absolutey not. He has no tactical awareness, he picks players based on their names, and he obviously can’t motivate a team. Dont get me wrong it’s not just Roeders fault, this all started a long time ago. Newcastle started going wrong the year we ‘kept our powder dry’ and only brought in Lee Bowyer on a free transfer. That was the Summer when we could have attracted anyone, since then we’ve seen blunder after blunder. The way Sir Bob was sacked just as the season was at its start. The appointment of Grim Souness was rediculous afterall he was weeks away from the sack at Blackburn. Then the appointment of an academy coach as our Manager. The saying goes ‘your only as good as your last job’ - you just had to look at his track record at West Ham, Watford and Gillingham to know he was never meant to be a manager. The positive run the team went on after Souness was beheaded was nothing to do with Roeder, it was was the relief that Souness was gone.
This season has been more a true reflection of Roeders ability, or lack of it. Yes we’ve had injuries but his job title is Manager, which forgive me if I’m wrong means he has to manage the resources has has available. Having watched nearly all the games this season, you can see he just can’t do it.
This club of ours needs a major overhaul from top to bottom, but until somebody comes long with enough cash to get Shepherd to sell then we’re stuck with him. So that only leaves the manager position. Roeder has to go, thats evident for all to see. But who ever comes in must be 100% right. If Freddy wants bums on seats week in week out then the next manager must be world class. We need a motivator, a master tactician, somebody with bags of experience. This leads me on to my final point, just who should we be looking at.
The rags all seem to think that Allardyce is going to walk into the job, this scares me a little. Yes he has done a stearling job with Bolton, but he’s not been around the block. Could he have taken on Van Gaal when we fell apart in Alkmaar.
Now there’s a good idea…what about Van Gaal !!

what whole crapped againts rovers. We couldn’t even play. It’s always so dissapointing to watch the toon thesedays. Inconsistency, poor defense, chopped and changed in defense every weekend, and the most importantly much sorried poor management. It’s time to get rid of the whole board. Shepherd and Roeder please get out. Brings in the D.I.C We need a change in our club fortune and management. Otherwise, we will be the same every season. poor..poor..toon..oh dear…maybe we are lacking of a good “FENG SUI” in ST JAMES PARK..sigh..

I won’t be renewing my season ticket as long as Roeder is in charge. He’s a nice bloke, but not the man for the job. How a team with Owen, Martins and Milner couldn’t force Friedle into making a save (Dyer’s lame header does not count). It just screams of poor tactics and no organisation.
I’ll still go to matches next season, I may even renew my season ticket, but only if changes are made. I refuse to buy into the false promises like we had last lear about “huge imminent signings”.
