Newcastle sealed top spot in the group with a goalless draw in Frankfurt.
What did you think of the performance? Can we win the tournament? Who do you want to draw in the next round? Have your say.

Hi!!
We had a great party last Thursday!!!!
Newcastle hate Sunderland + we hate Offenbach!!!!

Newcastle didn’t play well. Frankfurt could have won 4-0, look at the stats at SkySports. Who is talking about a good back four, when you get 16 shots against your goal? Sorry but Nobby has to play in midfield and not as a right back. You gave the Germans too much time for a good service. Bramble has ups and downs during a game. Taylor was fighting and good. Ramage tried hard, but left back is not his favourite position. Butt and Emre played well if look at the defense, but there was no, absolutely no, attack playing. If you play one man in front you have to support him. The game of Newcastle was kick and rush, better kick and Sib-rush. No rushes from N’Zgobia or Milner, no spirit. Sib did well, fought hard, but he should learn how to control the ball.
Luque - he can control the ball, but…. The skills of Sib and Luque together what a wonderful striker!
I was sitting in the Commerz-Arena and had a really hard time. (O.K. all the Frankfurt-Fans around me had a much harder time ;-)
Oh I missed two players: Given was good not outstanding but O.K.. Martins was not better than Luque. He should not run directly in the direction of the goal, run first cross and than to the goal (and than Emre has to play!).
Qualified - that was the best thing! And the fans of Eintracht they have been outstanding.

Well done lads, job done. Not the greatest performance, but we’re through as group winners, the result was the only thing that mattered last night. Okay Luque has had a couple of games this season now, I’m still not remotely impressed, and Zoggy hasn’t came on as much as I thought he would after the end of last season’s ‘Giggs like’ wing performances. Sib did his job well from what I saw and Taylor was like a fucking machine at the back, very impressed with his performance last night. Titus was up to his usual tricks again with some dodgy clearances, and day dreaming at times. NOBBY FOR RIGHT BACK!! I felt Nobby had another fine game at right back and Milner put in another good performance. Can’t see us going all the way at the minute, but touch wood you never know what might happen, fuck me the Smoggies almost did it last time around. A nice little eastern european club who we can beat in the next round, give us some more confidence then Rangers in the quarters, so we can knock out the only sweaties. Even up the injustice that was Man utd’s defeat to Celtic.

It would be interesting to see who was missing for the end of last season that is missing now as well. i.e. what I’m really asking is: Were Carr/Baba fit when Roeder managed to haul us up to 7th?

Finally Reoder produced a string of quite decent results since the game at Arsenal. But why must we always wait til injuries take their toll before we can win? Last season has been like that and this season too. It’s too much of a coincidence, right? Anyway hope that Newcastle’s season’ll continue in this good form. And hope that the players can take advantage of the weekend break and recover well for the tough matches ahead!

Aye, decent result, but a hell of a long way to go before I go back to St. James’. I wish the players would stop talking to the press, about total bollocks. THE CLUB IS STILL A FUCKING SHAMBLES

This was not a good opportunity to blood youngsters. Frankfurt raided our goal for most of the game and in reality it could have been 3 or 4-0. To put some youngsters into that arena, where we are getting such an onslught could have been a nightmare for their confidence and for the team.
Well done Roeder, the defence held strong and I think a good team selection. Luque, I really thought this guy would come good, but yesterday he wasn’t interested. Taylor was excellent and it would be a complete injustice if Carr was to replace Nobby. Sib did his job and although it sounds disrespectful to the legend, but playing on his own up front he did as much as Shearer did when he was alone upfront!! Well done Sib!
Well done lads, but Reading is a MUST 3 points!!!

Complaining because Roeder didnt didnt blood his youngsters?! FFS It was an important game, a point guarenteed us top spot.
Imagine if he had given some of the younsters a go and we’d lost, possibly costing us top spot he’d have been absolutely slated and the youngsters confidence takes a huge knock.
Relying on Bramble, he played well bar 4one (his usual) rick, and to be honest Id play him ahead of a completely untried 19 year old.
Nobby, Taylor and Butt were all great

Dear me, Quentin did you watch the match! Roeder made 1 sub last night. Pattison? oh yeh lets put him on in place of Emre or Butt right! Honestly some people really aint got a clue. Butt/Nobby top men yet again.

Job done!!. Not pretty, We missed the pace of dyer and the midfield need to release balls early to Martins as his electric pace takes him offside in the blink of an eye. I thought Butt played well in the centre but Luque was a disgrace, now it becomes clear why Roeder has no confidence in him. if we can get half what we paid for him take the money and sign Beattie or Bent
Back to the prem and nothing but 3 points against Reading will do!!

Hello,
Glen did not blood his youngsters, why ? I do not think Glen has the confidence to go on to be a successful ptremiership Manager.
He did not use one sub, and pattison is the one that will get away from the Toon, soon.
He relies on Bramble, and for what ?to destroy Newcastle ? Roeder is stupid, and sheperd, they deserve being in the bottom 4, with that kind of mentality.

Overall, not pleasing on the eye from a Black & White perspective. Still, we finished top of the pops in the “group of death”. I have no complaints about that.
However, Puque (as I feel sick to my stomach watching him play) was horrendous and the quicker he’s shown the door, the better. Also, if we play a 4-5-1 again, it will take a miracle to score a goal. Our final 3rd was dreadful.
Anyhow, looking forward to the draw and our next opponents.
Howay the lads! (’cept Puque)
