Your Shout: AZ Alkmaar 2-0 Newcastle Utd - Have Your Say
By A.K. Dholakia On Thu 15 Mar 2007 |
A goal either side of half-time from Shota Arveladze and Danny Koevermans gifted AZ qualification to the quarter-finals on away goals, as Roeder’s tactical plans were ridiculed time and time again in a match where Newcastle were thoroughly dominated.
Does Roeder have any defence? Does our defence have a defence? Where was the midfield? Is there anything left in the season? Where do we go from here? How do you feel about Newcastle, football and life, in general, right now? Have your say.

It was’nt a bloody suprise for me newcastle always throw the game away in the first half get a good manager like Jose Mourinho he has already said if he had a team like newcastle he could make wunders with us glenn is not good enough to side for a premiership team and our geordies fans deserve better than this!

chris i dont think you no what ur talking about hes a waste of space at the moment.
he cant pass he dosnt track back as well as he should he doesnt shoot, he doesnt win ball in midfield he ALWAYS holds onto it longer than he should.
Alot of people here are saying hes good because of a few performances like when he played quality against arsenal or who ever it was, well if ud noticed him in most games he does fuck all.

For god sake people, scott parker is one of the best things about this club at the moment, so get the **** off his back as you clearly have know idea what your talking about.

i just think that roader is a nice lad n all but e isnt manager material,i fink scot parker is a good palyer i dont see why people dont like him .

I’m just as concerned now as I was when that other imbecile Souness was in charge. We have to get rid of this inept, arrogant little man now before its too late. I hope he is sacked before the start of next season or our problems could be a lot worse. After 25 years as a season ticket holder I will still be there next season though but I dont blame those who wont be!!
Sent in on: March 17th, 2007 at 3:07 pm
Was anyone genuinely surprised by the way we went out?
Sent in on: March 17th, 2007 at 1:12 pm
Don’t get me started on scott parker.
And I get so angry with roeder - for god’s sake take those woolen glasses off! Parker is kryptonite for newcastle. Without parker we have accumulated twice as many wins and draws as with him playing.
For anyone who loves parker- look that up - its a fact.
The insane thing is Roeder is blaming the defense for mistakes - the defense were under attack all game - thats what happens, when the pressure mounts and mounts things start to break.
SO its the ****ing midfield Glenn! Man Utd’s defenders always look like they’re taking a walk in the park, because they only have something to do every now and again.
To be more specific, parker can’t keep pace, has poor vision, poor decision making, hestitates, misses tackles, has no height or reach, poor passing technique, can’t cross. More worryingly - he’s supposed to be a defensive midfielder right? - He has no understanding of whats happening, get sold dummies like he’s got vouchers, no awareness of danger, where gaps are opening up. The only time i’ve ever seen him intercept he slides the ball into an opponents path!
Right, sorry, end of rant.

Newcastle in europe this year has been about romance, believing in a dream, fun, togetherness and taking a break from the stress of the premiership.
Now, what turns a team that is clearly absolutely loving it, and a manager that is loving it into a team that allows themselves to be dominated, doesn’t enjoy the challenge, and doesn’t fight till the end?
SCOTT PARKER.

Roeder Said:
“They are not good goals we conceded. Too often crosses come into our box, they are not defended properly and bad decisions are made.
“I have to find defenders who are good enough to play in front of Shay Given.”
“Shay Given is a is a top drawer keeper but he does not get the protection he should get. He is exposed far too easily.
“Too many defenders make too many mistakes that cost us points.
“They do well, you are happy with them and you think they have learnt. Then ‘bang’ they go and make the same mistake again and let you down.”
“I am hugely disappointed. I cannot sit here and explain how disappointed I am personally when players I would have expected to perform well have performed poorly.
“We trained here last night. We did not do too much, but what we did gave me a lot of confidence that the boys were in good shape to come our here tonight and play as a team.”
He knows whats wrong so give him the summer to sort it out.It sounds to me as if he has not been given the money he wants to buy defender and Fat Fred will only let him but high profile players to sell shirts for his back pocket

After the 4-2 win Newcastle and the English newspapers were in bullish mood to proceed to the next round. With this in mind Newcastle utterly underestimated AZ. During the 4-2 win AZ was playing far below par. Mainly because they underestimated the strength and pace Newcastle can offer. Now van Gaal is a master in tactics and the players themselves showed their potential in the more than deserved win. Even with the regulars missing (Schaars, da Silva, Diculica) AZ could untrouble their 1st leg by putting a terrific performance. Good luck to AZ

“Newcastle fear loosing Martins” if they miss European qualification, if I were them I’d be a lot more afraid of loosing their number 1 Shay Given, I know he’s said he’s not leaving, but how much further does someone have to be pushed before they break, it’s a joke the defense that he’s playing behind. How many more games will he have to do it like. He’s almost been there 10 years and trophey wise he’s nothing to show for it. If it wasn’t for his life for his family there, if he wasn’t so loyal he’d probally been out the door on his way to Arsenal. Wenger on more than one occasion has said he wanted Given. If it was anyone else they’d already be on their way there but Shay Given loves Newcastle and wants to stay there but after almost 10 years of no tropheys if the defense go on playing like they are at the moment I see Arsenal looking more and more tempting to him everyday.

A complete disapointment… got to admit sibereski seemed the only one of a few who reli seemed as if they wanted to win this match, great in the air… A poor game from martins that one on one where he hit it strait at he keeper made my hope fade away, beng hipocritical now but one substitution i wouold olf made strait away… Siberesku off for Milner with dyer pushing upfront as milner goes out onto the right
sorry to say i thought solano had a stinker, didnt understand why the commentators were sayin parker worked his socks off, take te armband off him the passions gone, the pride give it to someone whoactually wants it and full of pride such as given or butt… talking about butt just showed how frustrated with passion as he kicked off at the end.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
I thought the team line up before the match was fine, except I’d have had Milner on for Sib & moved dyer to the middle (2nd striker). But other wise was happy.
But what went wrong? Nearly everything. We were 2nd to every ball in midfield. Sibierski won loads in the air up top, but it’s not really won if possession goes straight to the opposition. I don’t really need to add anything to what been said about our defence last night other then it’s not just the four at the back that let us down defensively. We (should) defend as a team.
It was just a night where nothing was ever going to go right.
As for someone earlier who wrote that Van Gaal was a proper manager & that Glen should be sacked… Did Glen not just draw 4-4 with a ‘proper manager’?
The truth is we’ve not really played that well since Christmas & have relied on Martins goals, Dyer’s pace for entertainment & Bramble keeping it steady at the back. Last night it just came to an end, Martins goals dried up, Dyer wasn’t involved enough out on the right & Bramble who’d been in good form had a bad day at the office.
p.s. I’m trying to put a brave face on it, because I’m absolutely gutted.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
Its no good Roeder blameing the defence, he`s had last summer and jan to get good defenders in but did not, so the buck stops with him
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 3:00 pm
Don’t know what the answer is but I do know if we are to achieve any kind of success it cannot include Shepherd, Roeder et al.
There appears to be a general air of apathy within the club at present and this coupled with an incompetent coaching staff will only serve to hasten its decline.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
AZ were the better team….better players and above all a much better manager!!
I follow AZ for a few years and I can say that this team have a lot of potential. Players like Koevermans, Martens en de Zeeuw are all superb players!
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 11:40 am
Glen Roeder is the man to take Newcastle forward, our problem as fans is we all want that quick fix, we bring in a big signing or a new manager and we think, ‘this is it, we’re gonna win something!’ a season or two goes by and we don’t have any trophies in our cabinet and all of a sudden we’re baying for blood.
The problems at this football club can’t and won’t be fixed with one summer and a ridiculous transfer window (which is killing the transfer market as no one wants to spend in January so saves all their money to blow in the summer meaning all the ’selling’ clubs bump up their prices knowing ‘buying’ clubs can afford it given that they’ve got their whole years transfer fund to spend in a month therefore pushing transfer prices up quicker than they were going anyway… but that’s another story) we need stability and a cool head, Glen’s got that, he will be at this club for at least the next 3-4 seasons so get used to it and get behind him!
why, oh why do we jump on the band wagon of bashing this club whenever they’re down? This part of the season is where they need our support the most, they need to know that we are behind them and come the beginning of next season, we’ll be ready and they’ll be ready, Michael Owen will be ready, a couple of new full backs and a new centre half will be ready, Glen will be well on his way to assembling HIS squad, that’s when we can judge him, we know he can motivate, we saw that last season, now lets see what kind of squad he can build.
All i know is that the fans getting of the case of the players, manager and board has never done us any good, it’s not much fun either. this season was a lost cause a long time ago, this run in the UEFA is the only thing that’s kept us going, with the injuries we’ve had this season was only ever about preparing for next season, that’s when we’ll be in a position to really do something, really!
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 11:14 am
as usual…just when my hopes start to rise NUFc brings it down with a massive thud.
It was naive, and just plain stupid, for Roeder to believe that our useless defence, who think a clean sheet comes out of the wash, were going to hold AZ, one of the beter attacking teams out there, especially in Alkmaar and with them having to chase a deficit.
AZ’s defence is shaky and with them pushing forward surely we could have at least played counter? with the pace of dyer and martins we surely would hae scored at least 1 or 2 if we played with some sort of intent.
Leaving Milner (player of season so far) on bench shows his foolishness.
Sure he was right to blame the defence but its partly his fault surely? He’s had 2 transfer windows to bring people in to those positions. Sure moneys been tight and Martins was needed but we blew 5mil on Duff. Not saying it wasn’s a good deal but there were positions elsewhere in far greater crisis then LW. Whats he done for the defence? Loaned in gooch who, admittedly looks half decent but was cup tied which, considering qualifying for europe through the league was a long shot anyways, didnt add a great deal.
Meanwhile Sol Campbell was available for free and we didnt want him for some reason, woodgate available for loan (again no action) and Neill available for next to nothing (not the best player but better then what we’ve got). Surely with those players in we could’ve easily beaten Alkmaar and would peobablyfind ouselves in the europe spots instead of mid-table mediocrity.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 11:12 am
You didn’t seriously expect them to hold on to a 2 goal lead did you? That was thoroughly predictable, especially since it was our first European game to be shown on National TV this year just to make sure everyone could see how shit the team is. The defence was pathetic, the tatics were woeful and the passion just wasn’t there. The whole team wilted under the pressure when other ‘proper’ teams would have thrived on the challenge. Because Van Gaal employed the tactic of making sure every Toon pass was put under pressure our players shit themselves every time the ball came near them! Why the fuck didn’t we do that? They never closed down on the AZ midfield, just stood there and let them play through them.. as for the Taylor/Bramble/Hungtington combo… just like the Spice Girls can we also never see them together again please?
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 10:38 am
i honestly cant be botherd to give me opinions, we all no the same things and the club is just full of blind morons.
why on earth no milner, why did he take duff off and tell them to play long balls for dyer and martins to head and go very very narrow
hunntington is absoltly crap i dont care he was out of poistion ther is no excuse he was more concerned about his hair that trying to handle that winger.
cba to type anymore so sick of this total bullshit
get rid of freddy and throw back roeder to the youth teams, and get decent experienced manager in for once.

i m sad. very sad. the UEFA Cup was our last shot of any silverware. now that we r out of the cup n lying in the mid-table of epl, seems like this is gonna b another fruitless season. same old story. disappointed.
nevertheless, i shall only bleed black & white. lets hope we can strengthen our squad during the coming transfer window. those prima donnas gotta go.

I agree with Deaco … and i tell you something else too , we need to win two or three league games as although Charlton are 13 points behind with 9 games left it will be 10 on Sunday , if we have another bad run Championship football could be on the cards.
Sundays team must include Zog , Milner and Gooch , forget Duff , Bramble and Butt is banned !
Why on earth he left Milner out i don`t know and to put Zog on in the 86th minute , crazy , changes should have been made with 25 to 30 minutes to go , wholesale changes , 3 off and 3 on …. and go for it !!
I wasted 2 hours of my life last night watching that rubbish which is harder to take after the brilliant first 45 last week , however i reckon most Toon fans expected last nights result but we just hoped for once that the team would do us proud !!
We were wrong.

I am sick to death of NUFC players talking in the media and setting themselves up for a mighty fall. Why don’t they just shut their faces and play. They then comment on how they have had “criticism in some quarters”. Do NOT talk the talk, because you sure as hell can’t walk the walk!!
Milner, poor lad, is a scapegoat for the Manager, I will be voting for Milner as the player of the year, yet it seems because he has a good professional attitude that he can be dropped to the bench. I think that is complete mismanagement on a player so young!!
Bramble has been in the last chance saloon now for far too long. I would rather a decent centre back that makes no mistakes and retains possession than one that can do world class tackles twice a game then mess up three times a game!!
All this talk of “we are ready for the onslaught” and “batten down the hatches” and “We can get to Hampden” Just don’t do it!! You look like overpaid, tactically inept players and you look extremely foolish in the press! Roeder was never going to take us forward he has lived on decent games at Spurs, Liverpool etc. I agree with his appointment to stabilise and get rid of some crap from Souness, but long term???? NO WAY???

*SICK* - What a complete tactical f*ck-up by roeder. Play the ball on the ground man!! Why,why, why does he think he will get a 0-0 against such a good side as AZ. They outplayed us totally with their passing. We had no strenght even though we have not had a match in a week. Tame, slack, bored, nervous, confused are some words that might apply to NUFC players.
sib out carroll in please

Roeder is a good manager… but ONLY FOR A YOUTH TEAM! Fat Fred is the most SELFISH & GREEDY NUFC Fan in the world. At least during the KK’s era, we still can be proud of our free flow attacking game & Europe is our Second Home. NEW MANAGEMENT PLEASE.. no two ways about it. And we need at least ONE LEFT BACK, ONE CREATIVE PLAY MAKER & ONE TARGET MAN UPFRONT!. or else.. SAME OLD STORY FOR YEARS TO COME!
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 5:04 am
I bet teams love to see newcastle play bramble. If you see the replay of the second AZ goal, you will see at the corner where hes keeping his eye on his man but not marking him, then all of a sudden his man is lost and he is chasing after it, and then like normally the man scores. Quite comical, but seems like he wont be getting a new contract as yet, thank god.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 3:50 am
This is what we call Newcastle United.
Totally frustrated!
tactical manager like Van Gaal is needed!
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 3:33 am
Newcastle always do this. I don’t know why you’re all so suprised. We could have had a 7-0 lead after the first leg and we’d lose 8-7 aggregate.
The only way we ever win anything ever is if we’re trailing after the first leg. If we want to win the UEFA cup (or anything, ever) the best thing I can think of us doing is letting ourselves go a goal down in every first leg. ‘Cos that’s what we do, we fight back. Otherwise we just defend deep, point to the goal, and say “go on, we’re certainly not going to do anything about it. Shay might, but most of us won’t.”
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 3:01 am
Typical Newcastle away performance for the last 3 or 4 years.Toothless upfront and poor defending, making mistake after mistake, giving the ball away cheaply. This is exactly what i expected after the 4-2 result last week.GUTTED.
IT WAS ALWAYS ON THE CARDS.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 1:46 am
I agree. I lay the blame at Fatboy Freddy’s door. He calls himself a fan, but a true fan would put all his money back into the club, not keep it himself. I was disgusted, one of the worst games I’ve seen in years, and it was totally predictable. I honestly saw this coming, just like when we bowed out with good grace against Sporting Lisbon two years ago. It’s not really Glenn’s fault, although his subs and starting line up were very strange. When we finished 3rd and did excellent in the Champion’s League a few years back, where was the sodding investment then? You gave Souness Champions League money and he spends it on players who arent good enough for the Championship. We’re caught in a vicious cycle, as Freddy says he won’t leave until qwe win something, and we won’t win something until he leaves. Shearer, get back soon as you can and kick this bunch of useless overpaid pricks up their arses.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 1:30 am
Roeder has to go. His dismal tactics handed the initiative to the Dutch from the kick-off. Did he really think Bramble and co could keep the Dutch out for 90 minutes? And why wasn’t Milner playing? This lad has just got better as the season has progressed and he would of provided the speed and service that NUFC sorely lacked.
I was prepared to give GR the benefit of the doubt but he blew it big time - Roeder should go (as well as our lousy chairman)
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 1:28 am
does anyone actually kno why milner wasnt played!?
Im asking coz ther must be somethin wrong, coz i cant believe tht roeder cud be soo stupid!!! Is he thick!!?
the only reason we were winning games, especially in europe is because milner was playin! and the key was playin Sibiesky and milner tgether, coz milner was gettin the crosses into Sibiesky! Its far from rocket science! DONT CHANGE SOMETHIN THT WORKS! and what did he start doin, taking milner off for Sibiesky and visa versa! then not playin him at all!!!
IS ROEDER MENTAL!?
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 1:23 am
Same old story…. Failing time and time again. I felt like shooting myself after that result. I mean are we the fans ever going to get something to smile about? it seems not . Roeder out . We need a change in management we have a good squad.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 1:22 am
I’m sorry but a manager that says a 0-0 draw will do! creates a negative attitude to the players and the fans.
A team that cannot defend will not get a 0-0 draw when they defend!
As a exiled supporter I encouraged a load of my mates to join me to show them that NUFC can be a force in Europe only to be disappointed with a innept display that dosn’t deserve even to be on television!
Why don’t we concentrate on what we did well in the first leg— ATTACK
Not one of the players on that field tonight looked comfortable on the ball! OH! did we keep the ball? No I don’t think so!
Its no good blaming our luck! Bramble getting blocked! He’s a premiership player Back off and follow the player you should be marking, or Paul Huntington who just is not fast enough, or Salano’s passes which did not reach a Newcastle player, or even the corners we took in the last few minutes that were Sunday League crosses.
I have been a supporter of the Toon since my Teens travelling from Hexham and then from Chester but I don’t think I have been more disappointed than tonight with the expectation that we were going to win the EUFA Cup. But I suppose my trips to the Capital in the 70’s for the League cup and the Fa cup finals have taught me that we ain’t good enough!!!!!!!!!!
Bring back KK or somebody that knows how to defend!
I used to watch Glen Roeder when he played for NUFC and have supported him untill now but Come on That display tonight was CRAP!
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 12:38 am
If he says too many players were off form then change it instantly, bring on players change it for god sake! i can’t believe the number of times balsphemy came out of my mouth and ass tonight. But oh well, i’m so used to losing, im turning into a pessimist but actually more of a realist

We have world class players, paid several times az’s wages, but what does az have van gaal, tacitically triumphed over roeder, with lesser players ha can still triumph, with a smaller crowd can still triumph, van gaal- the 300 roeder- persians
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 12:26 am
Matthew is well living in his own head.
We played away from home a pretty good side tonight, and gave a performance, poor as it generally was, that would have been good enough - if only we had 1 defensive horror, rather than 2 of them.
Bramble had a blonde night. Oba and Dyer didn’t get a even a small slice of good fortune. We had no left back. No left winger who played as he can.
Milner was left out. Why? Because he has been relatively poor during the last 2 months.
We lost to a good side. Not to a lower league pub team. AZ are a good side. And we weren’t good tonight.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 12:22 am
I must applaud Matthew’s comment below. The man sums it up quite perfectly. This club will never succeed until the cancer that is Freddy Shepherd is removed permantley. Ahmen.
Sent in on: March 16th, 2007 at 12:00 am
Its was cowardly. Spineless. Pittifull. The worst Newcastle performance I have seen for years. Worse even than Souness. And the truly sad thing is that this was highly predictable.
A pathetic performance, from a pathetic team, managed by a pathetic manager, who was installed by a disgrace of a chairman.
What do we do? Sack the cluless idiot Roeder? And have that bafoon Shepherd appoint another dud? Same old, same old.
Newcastle United is dead. And its Shepherds fault.
R.I.P. The adventure. R.I.P. Hope.
Sent in on: March 15th, 2007 at 11:55 pm
Results, ‘headless chicken’ performances like this one and Newcastles knack of shooting themselves in the foot used to have me tearing my hair out, now i half expect it.
Most managers would give their right leg to have the flair and potential newcastle have on the books , yet Mr.Roeder has managed to take that talent and mould it into the most negative, boring, predictable, sloppy team i’ve seen in a long time, and he STILL has the backing of the chairman!
Something has to give …
It terrifies me to think how much Roeder is going to spend in the summer to take us another step backwards. No doubt we need to replace the players who don’t show sufficient commitment on the pitch, can’t/won’t listen or learn from their mistakes and have too many condor moments, but i don’t think Glenn should be given a penny more when he can’t even get a decent performance out of what he has.
Ideally we need a manager who is positive, who can make the right calls regarding formation AND selection, a tactition who can read the game and employ counter tactics and substitutions sucessfully. Someone with flair, imagination, good man management and organisational skills and top level experience…preferably at winning.
Failing that… ANYONE really…because sadly for Newcastle, Glenn fails to tick ANY of the boxes, and i’m hard pushed to think of a so called ‘big club’ manager who could make a bigger pigs ear of what he has at his disposal.

We Were awful. I am looking to become a football manager wth my dream being to become the manager of my team newcastle united. Tonight we had a awful display. The tactics were all wrong and i know if appointed i would sort this out. No question i know what is needed as do most fans and it amazes me how the players are not trained corectly and are not ready with tactics fo the game, An awful display The defence must be sold and we must make this huge stand now. Its a huge prospect but i know there are many better defenders out there even availiable on a free.

Roeder to blame, blind man on a galloping horse could see duff and huntington were weak links and GR should have taken a leaf out of Jose Morinous book and had the B**** to make subsitutions after 15 min what were Milner and Emere doing on the bench. not for the first time Glen you got it wrong

The defense was back to it’s old self..terrible. At times it looked like the who;e team hadn’t a clue about what they were doing, headless chickens running around the place. Shay Given did well behind a horrific display from the defense, there was nothing much he could do about either goals, and he made some crucial saves including a few amazing ones. But other than that it was a complete disaster. Like half the time it looks like they’ve never played together before. They just weren’t clicking. There was no Plan B I’m not even sure there was a Plan A. Over all it was a bad display and in the end we didn’t derserve to go through..the better team won on the night.

I think we created some good chances once we needed too, martins one on one, dyer shot across goal, and shame about the parker dissallowed goal but probably makes up for the red card that should of been showed to taylor.
It’s true that Newcastle tactics of playing counter attack just played into AZ hands of which they took full advantage of and fair play to them. But once Newcastle needed to create chances we looked a good team, just not when we try and sit back and defend like the likes of bolton and everton can do quite easily.
Vital now that we can pick up some wins in the league so we can be in europe next year and hopefully have a better chance of winning uefa cup.

The problem with Roeder…he always put the old Sibiesky as striekr and he never create a thing…Only able to score with his head!!! Milner is our best RW thsi years and he was on the bench. Dyers far better in attaking mode than in RW!! Emre far better than Duff. At least he control the ball. Roeder is a young coach and always overate Sibiesky!!! Sibiesky is useless like Luque. Slow , poor striker and only good with head!!!
Bad Game for the Toons and bad tactic by Roeder!!!

Only really one word to say about the performance of our players who apparently are supposed to be premiership players.. and that word is awful ( and thats me being polite).
I have seen more passion in a youth sunday league game then what those players shown on the pitch tonite, seriously they should hand there head in shame. The only ppl i feel very sorry for are those dedicated black and white fans who paid alot of money to go to the game tonite and if anything i think the club should repay all there money back and pay more on top.
From the 1st minute to the last the players did not look interested, slow off the mark and not once in the game did i see us pass the ball for more than 3 passes with out looking comfortable.
Im going to end this now otherwise i will go on all nite, but as its comic relief week i think all those players and staff and club that was involvrd in this fixture should suffer for a week and donate all there wages to charity as there is ppl in this world who deserve it more than they do.
Cheers Newcastle United for wasting my time tonite

Is anyone actually suprised???? whenever we look good for a trophy and look like we can go all the way we put in a performance like that. what can i say roeders tactics all wrong and it was costley. so disapointed at the moment and we have nothing left too aim for this season except getting higher in the league (and we still have to play Chelsea and Arsenal) we are three points behind Blackburn but only six points behind everton in the European places soo anything is possible come on boys lets end the season like i know we can. NUFC 4 LIFE.

roeder says before the match oh we’ll be positive and keep at it from the first leg, he got it wrong playing huntington at lb, he’s been a liability when he has played and should of perhaps played n’zogbia or duff there, atleast they would challenge in the air.
titus just pressed his off button after the last few “decent” performances, i think this is 1 line to far which the lad has crossed, and taylor & nobby caught ball watching for the first goal just summed up tonight.
then taylor and butt very lucky to stay on, has that kick just ruined butt’s season and the relationship with the fans who knows.
it should have been 4 or 5 but we still had 2 chances. could dyer have squared for martins, only he will know, and then oba’s chance in the closing stages.
what was wrong with parker’s “goal”? nothing, the ref never had the balls to give it after everything he gave to us!
i shouldn’t be disappointed its happened over and over and over and over again and it hurts twice as worse as the previous times.
we need to re-group and plan for next season. we wont qualify for europe through the league so lets look ahead.
keep the faith!

At the end of the day the better team won, AZ are not anything special but when you have a world class manager at the helm, It makes an average looking team to something special. Roeder was again clueless, his subs where strange and terrible, I don’t understand why Emre was played, surely his mind is on the racism trial. Good point about Carroll, surely someone with some height would have been better than Zoggy.
The worst decision of the game to me tho was the none inclusion of James Milner, this kid has been our best player this season and should have played the full 90 minutes to supply balls into the box for Sibierski and Martins but we started with Duff who again looked off the pace and non interested. There was no heart in the displayed offered by Newcastle and I feel sorry for the travelling support to pay that sort of money to watch an awful display.
I know believe we will probably lose on sunday against Charlton but hopefully there is more heart in the effort and a much better display.
Overall our season is well and truly over and now we should be thinking about finishing hopefully in the top half of the table and not crash and burn. Hopefully we finish above Boro!

Roeder is not the same class as Luis Van Gaal, No doubt about it ! Game plan and tactic win the game.
I don’t know what we do in training, look like our players didn’t know how to start and finish the ball, no passing plan ? just stand at your position and play as u like is the plan ? I don’t know.
But if we play like this for the rest of the season, Fxxx Off ! Roeder !

once again when it really mattered the toon never turned up.they were played off the park tonight by a team who were really up for it.the newcastle defence was scared to death every time the ball was in the box.brambles his usual non league judgment and hesitation.and huntington torn to pieces time and time again.sick to death of watching so called top players on big money been turned over by players who graft for their team on proberbly not even a quarter of the wages toon players think they are worth.
Sent in on: March 15th, 2007 at 10:02 pm
never have i watched such a poor toon performance .Scott Parker is a captain who lack the passion and motivation that th etoon army demand.although Mr Roeder has done well with a team ravished with injuries its only now with players getting of the injury table that his tactics are being shown as inadequate.God help this team of would be footballers we should give the lot to the makems.

So disappointing. We looked negative from the very first whistle, seemed second to every ball in midfield and were lacking in quality when we did manage to put a few passes together. We were crying out for some width after they scored the second so I cannot believe Milner wasn’t given the chance to stretch the play and Emre was brought on. All that happened then was that we didn’t have any outlet on the left and Dyer came inside as well meaning we had nothing other than Solano coming from deep on the right.
Then with 2 minutes to go, when were pumping balls up the middle we bring on N’Zogbia who’s hardly able to have an impact in the air; we should have brought someone like Carroll on who can at least challenge in the air.
Overall, poor display and poor substitutions from Roeder. Our negative outlook cost us and the whole team just didn’t click at all

WE ARE SHOCKING! WERE WAS THE DEFENSE?! BRAMBLE ALL HE DOES OS MAKE IT EASIER FOR THE OPPOSITION. WHY PLAY HIM? HOW MUCH DO U WANNA BET STRIKERS ARE DANCING ABOUT IN THE CHANGING ROOMS BEFORE A GAME WHEN THEY SEE BRAMBLE ON OUR TEAM SHEET. HE GIVES THEM FUCKING CONFIDENCE. WE NEED DEFENDERS-AND QUICKLY.THIS IS PROB 1 OF OUR WORST SESONA FOR YEARS.

Fan from Hong Kong…..
Feeling so bad about it, by the results, and by our performance
I can’t believe how tatically helpless was Roeder, did he have any plans for the game? sit back and let them attack us until we are 2 nil down? He didn’t have a clue. what he did was just letting the players play on their own without plans
I’m already sick about him and our performance, poor teamwork, poor passes, even can’t make an accurate short pass! We got the quality to play better so that’s why I’m so frustrated about it
The whole team, especially the defenders, have faults to blame, the 2 goals we conceeded were avoidable, 2nd one, Bramble should have marked his man
Anyway our season is really over now and I don’t think we can go back to europe next year.
I want a new manager that really has tactics
