Run, Oba, Run!

« on: October 02, 2007, 12:39:10 PM »

I know there are some wrestling fans on here, I've seen the references.

I used to be into it back in the day but haven't watched it all in a good 5 or 6 years now. However I'm about to break the boycott because I’ve heard rumours a certain Mr. Jericho might be making a comeback this weekend at No Mercy. I’m curious.

Anyone else heard anything about it?

I only liked the wrestling game son the ps2.  best multi plyer games ever.

Couldn't really watch the shows they put on Sky TV.

The only way that I would watch a show again is if The Rock made a comeback.

'cough'

Either Jericho or Shawn Michaels is making a comeback at No Mercy.

Most Likely Jericho.

Agree that they need to bring back the Great One though

Agreed. I re-watched the Royal Rumble Rock vs. Mankind I Quit match a little while ago. Classic.

Remember when Earthquake rocked the world of WWF by sitting on Hulk Hogans chest?  I was devastated.

Then he went and sat on Jake the Snakes Snake.

Poor little fella.

Then there was the time that The Undertaker arrived.  I absoloutley s*** myself.  He just kept getting up.  His manager lifting the urn to awaken him.

What was that 9ft bloke called again?  His arrival was similarly impressive.

The Giant Gonzales? (Had the fake body suit).

No Andre The Giant mind - scared of Jakes Python (so to speak!)

Remember Yokozuna? (Sumo Wrestler character). Died in a Liverpool hotel a couple of years back. Had a heart attack when a mouse ran across his room!

Even at the age of 7 watching Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy on Saturday's World of Sport I thought wrestling was a pile of s****.

I was wondering when Jericho would come back, I watched an interview with him about Chris Benoit when he was asked about returning and said that all the paperwork was completed and he was just waiting for the green light.

His original debut was class, when he interrupted the Rock on Raw, then Road Dogg a few days later at Summerslam.

If he returns, I'll have to catch it on Youtube though. Decky's right, returning superstars at PPVs were always the best moments - Undertaker at Judgement Day and Austin at Backlash were f****** mint.

Giant Haystacks was a classicly trained Viola player before he found wrestling.

Best one was Ultimate Warrior coming back to help Hulk against Sid Vicious and Papa Shango (aka the Godfather) (on dial up so can't be bothered to find it on youtube)

I havent watched wrestling for a few years now but Jericho used to be one of my faves, amazing on the Mic, funny and was an alround great wrestler and you're right his original entrance was class..............."Welcome to RAW IS JERICHO!"

I remember being delighted when he became the only person ever to beat The Rock and Stone Cold in the same night to become the first ever Undisputed Champ, although I feel he was never taken seriously as a champ mainly due to his size.

Also liked that talk show thing he had in the ring cant remember the name of it but it had the widescreen 'Jeritron 3000' TV and his set would get trashed every week.  Laughing

I also like it when The Rock returns, I cant remember a specific time off the top of my head but it usually consists of his music hitting........he strolls out to mass euphoria.......he then proceeds to walk to each side at the top of the ramp.......do that 'pretend he's smelling something' pose..........then he brings the mic to his mouth to speak but the crowd is still going wild, so he walks to the other side of the ramp and repeats the process over and over!

This goes on for about 10 minutes before he utters a single word!  Laughing

The entries to the ring and the staged arguments at the start and end of bouts are better than the bouts themselves.

While technically not Hogan's comeback, a modern classic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45ObeVNfers

Hogan vs. The Rock WM18

Perfect example of what wrestling really is...  it's not about big spots or flipping around like a moron. They manipulate the crowd brilliantly.
