One of the best interruptions ever was the ludicrous Test-Stephanie wedding.

"...speak now or forever hold your peace."

Everyone looks nervously at the Titantron before breathing a huge sigh of relief.

"Now, Stephanie..."

*1, 2... this on?*

The entries to the ring and the staged arguments at the start and end of bouts are better than the bouts themselves.

I would usually consider myself disappointed with a PPV main event if it didn't end with someone running in and hitting their ally with a chair.

This is true in most cases.

I can't say I watch it much but when I'm flicking through the channels I'll keep going if it's already started but the sight of some steroid-addled heart-attack-waiting-to-happen trying his best to appear earnest is canny entertaining for about 5 minutes.

While technically not Hogan's comeback, a modern classic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45ObeVNfers

Hogan vs. The Rock WM18

Perfect example of what wrestling really is...  it's not about big spots or flipping around like a moron. They manipulate the crowd brilliantly.

That was a true iconic moment, I remember 'marking out' when the crowd was going crazy for Hogan and booing the Rock................for years the WWF had been trying to play down Hogans contribution to wrestling and even poked fun at him but this moment had been brewing for years and this was the moment when fans finally told the WWF just what they thought of Hulk Hogan and what he meant to them as the greatest 'face' in the history of wrestling.

I also remember the receptions Hogan got for weeks after WM18 on Raw, crowds would just stand and go wild for him for ages and ages bringing him to tears on a few occasions.

Great stuff!  Thumbs up

Seeing this thread inspired me to visit wwe.com to learn John Cena has vacated the title. Has he had it all this time? Sweet christ.

I also looked at the poll for new champion and Val Venis is way out in front on 48%. Good choice.

Wrestlemania on the Mega Drive:

Papa Shango
Age: unknown
Place of birth: unknown
Height: unknown
Weight: unknown

Laughing

Ahahahahaha, I remember that.

I loved Papa Shango.  Was classic when he'd be making his entrance to the ring, the cameraman always zoomed in on some kid looking really scared/about to cry. Laughing

Coming back to the first question,I have heard the rumours too.I dont know how true it is,but it would be great if it is indeed true. And Cena, not only the former WWE Champion now,but also out for 6-8 months is a great piece of news. But Val Venis,WWE Champion? Im sure WWE wont be stupid enough to listen to the fan and give what they want.Orton deserve to be the champion now.

"My dream as a kid was to play for Newcastle United and to score goals at St James’ Park. It doesn’t matter that I didn’t win a trophy because I did it my way and I lived the dream. Kane should have never taken his mask off, he's just a big jobber now - should have had more title runs imo, very harshly treated over his career.

Anyone remember Zeus from the early nineties (he was in the Hogan film No Holds Barred). Only had sight in one eye, still as tough as a brick s*** house

I agree with everything Scott Parker's 60's Haircut's said so far, he seems to have a good understanding on the whole concept, and speaks a great deal of sense.

Didn't Papa Shango go on to become the Godfather, in the weirdest character change ever?

Yes, I remember seeing him as Papa Shango at Whitley Bay Ice Rink about 92ish with that smoking skull, I was only about 10 and terrified of him!

Charles Wright (real name) has had many gimicks and fighting names, in chronological order:

The Soultaker
Sir Charles
Papa Shango
Kama 'The Supreme Fighting Machine'
Kama Mustafa
The Godfather

Kane was class, losing the mask was a big mistake. I used to love the X-Pac/Kane entrance with the explosion running into DX music.

Decky's right too, when those characters started to be overtaken is when I stopped watching it. Cena, Orton and Batista - snooze.

WWF/E go through periods of pushing the big guys with no talent or charisma. They snapped out of it last time. We need a new generation of Bret Harts and HBKs running the show.

One of the best 'turns' imo was when Chyna helped Triple H assault kane at wrestlemania 15 and it seemed DX has reformed, only for Triple H and Chyna to turn on x-pac later on that night and help Shane regain the european championship.

Isnt Hogan starting up his own federation? He has raised half the target cash aswell ($40mill).  I never knew why Stone Cold retired btw, isnt he only late 30s or early 40s? Surely the Undertaker is early 50s and hes still going strong? I just never understood it, he wasnt in WWF for 10 years, and he still has the carisma and talent to be the best in the business, i just think he may doubt his own fitness.

If Stone Cold came back id even consider watching it again just to take me back a few years as i LOVED his story lines.

Back/neck problems I think... that and he probably wouldn't pass these new "wellness" tests.
