Giddy up. Probably won't be fully fit for a few weeks though.

Probs wont play all match, but would be ace to have someone who can actually attack from midfield playing! Can't wait for a fully fit Joey Barton to take his place.

he'll have a solid 2 weeks after the Everton game to continue working on fitness and strength so even if he doesnt play the whole 90 mins against Spurs he'll get some proper time on the pitch.
I really think he can drive this team on into another gear. Be good to get Emre involved too.

Can't be bad news.. but i think people are resting a lot of hope on joey, as if he will save an otherwise mediocre midfield, i'm not saying he won't but i'm just worried that some fans are setting themselves up for disappointment.

This isn't Inter Milan or Lazio you know. This is just a dressed up pub side and anyone who can kick a ball is welcome.

I've said it before and ill say it again Barton is the key. His creativity, productivity AND workrate will benefit the team massively. Imagine this:
Given
Beye Rozehnal Taylor Enrique
Butt Geremi Barton
Martins Viduka N'Zogbia
Very good side IMO, obviously some will disagree with certain areas but you get the picture.

I can't say i'm a big fan of Barton, but for me it is anyone but Smith. Get him in the side.

If sam is gonna go 433, that side looks very promising!

I think some on here overrate him a bit, he's not that good. He will give the team some drive though, he's someone who always looks for the ball and someone who isn't afraid to lose it trying to make things happen. We've definitely been lacking that type of presence in the middle of the park so his return is definitely good news. I just hope people don't expect him to change our style of play on his own, he's only one player and he'll need time to come back to his best.

Hopefully he'll be the person to bridge midfield and attack.

That's what you've got to hope. If you take the view that not much has been created so far except for a couple of passes to Zoggy ...

Cant wait for JB to get back and fully fit, no matter how much you (over)rate him he is obviously going to bring more to our attacking play than a midfield pairing of Geremi and Butt.

Sportinglife.com:
Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton will be out of action for another month.
The 25-year-old is yet to make his competitive debut for the club after fracturing a metatarsal in a pre-season friendly at Carlisle just weeks after his £5.8million move from Manchester City.
Barton revealed last week he had set himself a target of being back for Sunday's visit of Everton and has travelled with the squad to their last three away games to add moral support.
However, on the day England striker Michael Owen returned to the club's training headquarters to begin his rehabilitation from his double bout of surgery in Germany, manager Sam Allardyce wrote his summer signing out of his plans until well beyond the forthcoming international break.
He said: "Joey Barton has got no chance for Everton on Sunday. It will be four or five weeks, or at least three or four reserve games."
