Big pile of steaming hot Chilli Con Carne has just flowed into my stomach.

Dear god that was great, i could of kept eating it for hours, i could literally allow myself to explode into bits from over eating.

God i want more, i wonder if there's any left over?

Turns into trans-fats when heated to high temperatures. You can cook with it really tbh but above 190°c it becomes unhealthy (starts to smoke). Use light olive oil when frying not the extra virgin stuff.

there was a link to cancer through pha's but that has been discreited.

lasagne without frying the mince off in olive oil would never be the same.

frying with butter......now and again i treat myself to eggs and aspargus fried in butter on good bread.

AFAIK, it's safe to use when frying slowly, sauteing, etc. but not as high temps like you say. It also has a low smoke point, so if it starts smoking, it's too hot and you should consider using another oil for whatever you're doing.

And who cooks using extra virgin oil? Same people who use gold bullion to hammer in nails?

if any oil starts to smoke you've got it too hot.

Even then, really. Try sunflower oil or soybean oil.

For stir fry I use a mix of sunflower and a few dashes of sesame.
