United will take a 1-0 lead into the second leg at St James’ Park in a fortnight’s time after a win by that margin at the A. Le Coq Arena. Antoine Sibierski leapt like the proverbial salmon to bury Damien Duff’s free kick at the far post, confirming Glenn Roeder’s belief he was excellent in the air.

The referee for our 1st leg tie in Estonia this afternoon is Martin Ingvarsson, a 40 year old Swede who is into his 10th year as a FIFA referee. He works as an advisor. His assistants will be 35-year-old Peter Martinsson, and Kenneth Eriksson, 42 years old from Norrkoping, and Sven-Martin Ã…kesson as fourth official.
Last month Ingvarsson took charge of the Stockholm debry between Djurgården and Hammarby, but was forced to abandon the game 9 minutes inton the second half due to crowd trouble, which included an Assistant Referee being struck by an item thrown by a spectator.
He has refereed in the A. Le Coq Arena before, taking charge of the international between Estonia and Latvia in the 2003 Baltic Cup.
The last time we had Swedish officials was that fateful night in Lisbon, when we were defeated 4-1 by Sporting in the Estadio Jose Alvalade, and Peter Fröjdfeldt was in the middle.
