Conclusion?

So Graeme Souness wants to bring in players who have Premiership experience or who can perform in the League, then? Well lets take a look at our Premiership rivals and see who is available, who could be available and who we could potentially attract.

Buying From Arsenal?

I can think of quite a few Gunners who I'd love to see in the Black & White shirt (we all would) but realistically, there are none we could possibly attract and those that we perhaps could, like Jeremie Aliadiere for example who has expressed a desire to find a new club and who's contract expires a year from now, just aren't good enough for Newcastle even in our period of transition. So window shopping at Highbury will be a short stop, stare and move on affair.

One player who is more than good enough however and who will be available on a free come the end of this season is Brazilian Edu. The classy midfielder is exactly the type of player we need. Great on the ball, can create and score and is quite adept from set-pieces too. Everything we currently lack from the middle of the park. He also has the right attitude, using the tube to get about in London and shunning showbiz bashes to stay at home with his wife and young bairn, cooking meals and watching the box. An ordinary bloke apparently, with an extraordinary talent.

However we have little or no chance of bringing Edu to Tyneside. He has many suitors - most notably from Spain with Valencia and Barcelona monitoring his situation closely if reports are to be believed.

Having said that it wouldn't hurt to at least try, regardless of how remote the chance of snapping him up will be. Ultimately we'd be wasting our time sadly. In fact, we'd be wasting our time looking towards Arsenal for any potential signings period.

Next up, a look at who is available, who could be available and who we could potentially attract from Aston Villa.
transparent fix
