So what do you read then, and why? Do you pick something that follows a similar line of thought to you, one with the best sports section or just the one that has the bird with biggest tits on page 3?

I'm an Independant man these days, I used to go for the Guardian but I've gone off it lately. I like to think of myself as broadly left wing, but I quite like having more scope to make my own mind up about what I think rather than having an article that's trying to tell you. I dip into the locals occasionally, but they're pretty rubbish. The worst one out there is the Mail, imo. f****** thinly veiled racist garbage.

Guy Debord and the Aesthetics of Cine-Sabotage

Just as the projection was about to begin, Guy-Ernest Debord was supposed to step onto the stage and make a few introductory remarks. Had he done so, he would simply have said: 'There is no film. Cinema is dead. No more films are possible. If you wish, we can move on to a discussion.'

I don't read the national tabloids because I just don't like the way they're written - it's all soundbites and bullsh!t.

I can't be arsed with the national broadsheets because I can't stand the politicians or people trying to be like politicians who write for them.  I get most of my national/international news from the beeb website.

I do read the two local papers in Dundee - The Courier in the morning and The Evening Telegraph.  It's always funny reading about the people you used to be at school with in the daily court reports.  Both papers are printed by D.C. Thompson though so it sticks in my throat buying those papers.  It wasn't all that long ago that Thompson's point blank refused to employ Catholics or married women.  They're quite a big employer in the area but i've never really liked them much as an institution.

Haha, yeah, I pick up the G&M once in a while, but I like a little leftism when I'm taking my nice morning dump. It's got Geoff Pevere doin' a pretty good job with the film criticism, but mainly I like the juvenile running Daily Show type commentary.

Sunday is my main day for reading the news: Observer, NOTW & The Sunday Sun. Get the Chron at dinner time but never on Saturday. Partial to the odd Journal as well. Like the media section in the Guardian on a Monday. Get the Sun when it when its a big England (any sport) V a nation that is classed as enemy. Nobody does it better than the Sun. I try to vary my papers to get view point from all angles.

Daily Express,Star & Mirror are the 3 worst papers for me, lifeless & s****.

Guardian should do well as the net is full of people with left wing ideology.

why do you think it is made for people who consider themselves upper-class, but just aren't, whatever that means? i must have missed the bits about the guardian supporting fox hunting or opposing house of lords reform, or the supplements on the best ways to poison the peasants who sneak onto your country estate.

as far as i can tell the guardian comes across as pretty solidly middle class, lower-middle if anything (teachers, civil servants, and so on) and pretty liberal and left-wing so hardly for toffs, or faux-toffs, if such a thing exists.

Was reminded of a cracking Daily Mail headline the other day (bear in mind it's normally a staunchly "pro-life" paper)

"Abortion hope after 'gay genes' find"

Proper outdid themselves with that one, makes the usual "Immigrants eat the queens swans" and"Ban this sick filth" pale in comparison.

I get the Times & Chronicle on a Monday after the football, and also some other times during the week if I feel like it. Get the rest of the news on the Internet and also get the Economist every Friday.

I think "Abortion hope after 'Daily Mail genes' find" would get my support, though Wink
