A previous posting on this guestbook asked why there was no response from "[email protected]" - it is because they are busy with commercial enquiries and do not have time to answer non profitable queries. I have asked for my site to be included in their listings - as they are asking for on the main menu page - but no response after 3/4 e-mails to them. even when using their on-line form for submitting URL's. However when I sent an e-mail to "[email protected]" asking about their "web development services" and prices, I received an e-mail back within hours. If they are not supporting the web site, they should say so and pass it over to someone who can. Cheers everyone. https://northeastscene.com

Just a friendly suggestion: I'm going to be visiting Newcastle upon Tyne in July on business for the first time(and will be taking in the local sites as well) and I think it would be useful if you would add to the optional links on the home page for the city a "transportation" link. This would be intended to cover information about the local airports and train stations, etc. For example, I have no idea how far the major airport is from the city, how much time to allow to get to and from the airport to the city, etc. Also, information about the train station could be helpful too. Generally, this link would cover the "how to get there" questions visitors would have. Just a constructive suggestion. Maybe you've already got the information there, but it's not quick to find. Best regards, Gordon Bardet

Re Eileen's query (May 6th I think) I used to go to Burnside High School when it was the Tech, I started there in 1966 at 11 years old and left upper sixth in 1973. (I'm 44 now, to save wearing out the calculator batteries.) I actually went out with an Eileen Hindhaugh for a short time until she dumped me...I wonder if??? When were you there, Eileen? My nickname was Pop Robson after the then Newcastle footballer (although I couldn't kick a ball to save my life), and later became Billy Wiz as I used to run a bit. I knocked around with Ian (Stump) Sewell, who went on to become an Industrial Chemist, Keith Tait (a poliss in Wallsend last I heard) Tom Pattison, (possibly a forensic scientist with the police) Michael Mather, Paul Gilpin, Sheila Cassidy (an air stewardess last I heard) Lynne Burke (probably a PE teacher now) Ian Kelly and Alan Tubby Bell (who both went to read medicine, I think at Newcastle Uni) Derek Bain (Army) and Linda Birdsey (who probably married a lad called Eddie from Willington High/ Deneside, and he is probably now a PE teacher) Sadly, I've lost contact with the lot. If anyone knows them, please say hello for me, and likewise to anyone else who was there at the time. Likewise, hello to the staff, Mr (Chinna) Watson (Biology) Gordon Robson (Chemistry) Butch Moore (Physics) Mr Storey (Maths) Ma Vickers (Deputy Head) M Colwill (Deputy Head) Messrs Dotchin and Hamill (PE) Mr Calder (Tech Drawing) Mr Beston (Metalwork) and Mr Aitchison (woodwork)

Just found your site. My wife and I were born in North Shields and married there in 1955 before emigrating to Sydney in 57 where we have continued to live and raise our family. Have visited the old place on a few occasions and still love the area and the folk. My memories of growing up there are so sharp that I recently had a book published about those childhood years. Titled "Plodgin' Through The Clarts" I'd love to hear from any of the select band who may have read it.

Proud to be a Geordie. I was born in Newcastle in 1967 and attended Benton Park junior school and then Manor Park. I lived in Benton and was so proud of my city and people and the 'Mags'. I left the 'Toon' in 1981 and it broke my heart.I lived in Sheffield were my mam came from until 1990 and then moved down south. I am now happily married with two little girls and still watch the lads when I can but I would do anything to moved Home. Geordies are the pride of England. Please pass on my regards to Martin Ramsey if anyone knows him out there.

Great web site! Anyone who went to Kenton Comp 1981 - 1986? Does anyone know of any decent pubs in the South London area with actual customers? Sick of drinking in pubs with no atmosphere - it's like drinking on the moon in comparison to the Toon!!!!! PS - if you get on the tube talk to people - it scares them witless!

I live in New Waltham, a "village" part of Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire. I was born in Blyth Street, Seaton Delaval, and lived in a hamlet of ten houses called West Farm, about 3/4 mile from Seghill. West Farm no longer exists now. I moved to North Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne, attended Chillingham Road Elementary School and Rutherford College, Newcastle. After various travels I settled in this party of the world in 1967 but, once a Geordie, always a Geordie. With a name like mine, there can only be one of me - at least, I haven't heard of any other, except the panhandle in Texas. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers me. Found this site by accident, fantastic seeing the loyalty that being a "Geordie" generates. Me - I was born 1950 St Cuthberts Terrace - Bensham, went to Brighton Rd school then Kelvin Grove when Brighton Rd became senior school. Was paid the sum of 5 shillings by Mr Mears, (teacher at Kelvin Grove)actually his bribe was 2/6 for the tech & 5 shillings for the Grammar. Heathcote had just opened in 1961 and I wanted to go, however it was over subscribed and I ended up at the Boys Grammar school on Durham Road. I was there from 61-66. I was a keen swimmer, taught by Mr Sarsfield, and swam for the swimming club at shipcote (ASA) Anyway - moved south in dec 66 to Great Yarmouth, had relations there & work in 66 was not easy to get in Tyneside at that time. Since then I have moved to Norwich & then to Grantham - slowly up the A1 home. I would love to hear from any old friends or people who knew me.

HELP!!! Is there a Brunswick Methodist Church in Newcastle-upon-Tyne? I am searching for my great-grandfather/grandmother, the Rev. Joseph Adams and Sophia Mary Blundel. One of their six children, John Henry (my grandfather), was born April 12, 1872 and baptized in the Brunswick Methodist Church on July 21, 1872. I have the baptismal certificate which says this particular church is on Dovecot Street, Stockton-on-Tees. However, I just received a reply from someone telling me they have no such church and that it is in Newcastle. Just trying to find my family. Regards. Nancy

I have just returned home from a six week stay in the UK, and I am wondering if any readers of this page have access to ‘The Box’ television channel (UK version) that is available via cable. If some readers of this page are not aware of this channel it is basically a channel where viewers can telephone in and request a video to be played by typing a short code on a touch tone telephone. Yesterday evening I watched ‘The Box’ for 4 hours from 7.17pm until 11.17pm. 'Crazy' by Britney Spears was requested 35 times during this time The video has the code 145 and this was being requested repeatedly by viewers. Despite being requested 35 times the video was never played. I also noticed that the code 166 was requested twice during this time but was not played. This is the video for ‘Baby One More Time’. Earlier in the day I noticed that the code 331 (Lolly) was being requested repeatedly but despite watching the channel from shortly after 10.00 am when the video was first requested, it had still not been played well past 2.00 pm. This is the reason that I decided to watch the channel later in the day and keep track of items that were not being played. It has been suggested to me that videos cannot be requested unless they appear on the play list that appears both at the bottom of the screen and is listed after every three or so videos have been played. However, this cannot be true because I have seen videos requested that have not appeared in the listing and these have been played. What is more annoying is the fact that some videos are played twice back to back. If there is some rule that videos cannot be played twice within a certain length of time (which is unlikely from what I have seen) why don’t they remove the video from this listing and display a message stating that this video is temporarily unavailable. I would like to know what the 35 callers who requested the Britney Spears video were thinking when their requests were not being played. I think a recorded message should be played if videos are not available telling callers of the fact, and informing them that they have not been charged for the call. Requests for video 555 was being accepted at a rate of about 2 from 10, in other words out of every 10 attempts to request this the phrase 'try again' came on the screen, 8 of the attempts. This was played twice during the 4 hours. Does anyone know how much of the telephone charge actually goes to ‘The Box’ with is run by Woolworths. I you want my opinion, at around £0.80 per call it is one big con. B Connolly

I've been down under in New Zealand now for ten years having made my way here from (originally) Whitley Bay via Sunderland, Falmouth and then Wimbledon. Are there any ex-Brown Riggers out there? I was there from 67 - 72. Great memories... unique place. I hear there is to be a big reunion in 2000. Spent my last five years in the UK working for Rank Video in London - made many friends. Can't seem to lose my Tyneside accent somehow!

Hello Newcastle! I have browsed just about all the Geordie sites and yet I have never seen any mention of people who were born in Swalwell (my birthplace) or Whickham. Is there anyone out there who went to Whickham Comp between 1962-67? If there is, I would be delighted to hear from you. Regards David Newton

Our home was damaged last year in a hurricane and we lost their address and phone numbers....we met Paul when he visited our city during Mardi Gras...If anyone reading this knows a number or E-Mail address we would like to tell them we are coming back to England in the Fall and would love to see them. Found this site by accident. It's great and brings back a lot of memory's. I grew up in Fenham in the 50's then I went to East Anglia to work with horses before coming to Canada in '62. Anyone who works for the blood bank could help me out, I'm trying to get in touch with a girl who used to live on "Two Ball Lonnen" her name is Shirley Renwick and she worked for the blood bank up till about a year ago. Shirley also went back to school full time.

Hi geordies, great site! I lived at 10 Oakfield Gardens, Benwell and went to Pendower school in the early '60s and moved on to Rutherford high school on the West Road for 1 year (1965/66) before being moved out to Hazlerigg. Started Gosforth Grammar school in the 2nd year (1966-70) and left after 'O' levels. I went by the last names of Lawton and Bough before I married. Some of the girls in my class at "Gossy" Grammar that I remember were Brenda Stephenson, Sandra Wilson, Cheryl Rix, Lynda Hubbard. Would love to hear from anyone that knows me. Am homesick for some fishnchips in the newspaper, cheese and onion pasties from Carricks bakery and of course some "broon ale". Cheors,

I am researching my fathers first world war service. he was in the North Staffordshire Regiment and enlisted, I think, in 1917. He did part of his training in Wallsend on Tyne and was billited at Bycars (or could it be Byker school). I would be grateful to receive any further information or sources for research. My father survived the trenches of Northern France and died 6 years ago aged 94.

Elizabeth Hedley lived at Trever Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne in a 2 Storey house with the name"Tyne House" on the front. She worked at some stage for "D. Hill Carter & Co Ltd. Outfitters and Furnishers at North Shields, also at Stockton &W.; Hartlepool. She left England for Australia in 1913 aged 32. George Hilton James Pattinson born Hatton-Le- Hole from Dueham County (his parents were a Head Master & Head Mistress of a School). George left England in 1912. They were married on the 21 April 1913,on the day Elizabeth arrived in Australia. I would love to catch up with any Family or Friends etc.

I am going out with one of your Geordie lads called Mark. He is a lovely young man and he took me around the 'toon'. I think the whole city is very pretty and the people are much friendlier than the Londoners. However, if you could sort the rainy and cold weather out I'll be back there in a flash. I have to save up first for some fleece jumpers to keep me warm for the next visit. By the way, well done for reaching the FA Cup Finals. At least you knowe that the whole country will be rooting for you. No one wants Man UTD to win. Ruud and the boys will make you all proud. Also I've been invited to a street party in honour of the event in Newcastle. Westmoor will be buzzing with people. Unfortuanately I'm a Arsenal fan, so I'll probably be the most hated person inthe place, unless Man UTD win!! See you later, Evie

G.G.Grandfather was transported to the colony in the mid 1850s. His name was Thomas BENNETT. His parents were John BENNETT and Elizabeth OLIVER. Thomas, a butcher, stole 3 cattle from Mr Pringle of Edinburgh and was sentenced to 10 years in Tasmania. As far as I know he never made any contact with family in Newcastle, probably due to shame. Anyway he made a good life for himself in Australia, a large loyal family, good business and a long life. I can't wait to visit my 'home town' and would be absolutely thrilled if someone was able to contact me with further information.

What a pity that the arts scene in Newcastle is so poorly represented on the sites. Come on Northern Arts let's see the exciting range of visual arts that's in the City.

Once i did work for ABB Power Generations Ltd. around the world and i did meet in Chania (Crete) in Greece a pretty girl with name Helena from Newcastle in England. She did work in a Bar where a lot of Nato people vent.Around two three years later in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia,i just left the Hard Rock Cafe, somebody did call me MarcelMarcel, i turned around and have seen a very beatiful european girl. First i didn't know her, but then, then i asking "Helena"? She told me yes, it's me. My next question was, what are you doing in Malaysia? She answered, oh I teaching englisch here.....Great girl...I always been thinking, next time i will see her in Sibiria in the Sowjet Union by shipping snow or someting like that. Now i'm not doing this job anymore and I think i will not meet her anymore. Bad luck...

I've studied in Sweden for a couple of months, where I've made some friends who are from this grim industrial city. One of them told me that Newcastle had some 5 million inhabitants, so I came over to check it out.Firstly, no way, never will there live 5 million people in your city!! Secondly, I've got no clue what so ever why it's called a grim industrial city. It's a great city, it's a city where you can party every bloody day!! Watch out Gordies, I'll be back! And if you guys ever find some time, come to Holland. And please, don't just visit Amsterdam...come to my town too. Rotterdam and Newcastle are quite similar.
