Obafemi Martins continued his good run of form with two goals to defeat a resilient Watford at St James’ Park on Saturday. After taking some time to settle into the Premiership, Oba has started to really look the part and both his finishes were out of the top drawer.

For the second game of their World Cup campaign, England were plodding rather than spectacular in their 2-0 win over Trinidad + Tobago. Until Peter Crouch towered at the far post to head England in front, it appeared that an unimaginative showing would only yield an embarrassing one point.

In a typically English hysterical over reaction, the press have decided that, following the one nil victory over Paraguay that our World Cup chances are up in smoke. I’ll just say that again - our one nil victory. From the reaction of the super pundits you would have thought the South Americans had given us a sound beating.
