It’s that time again, yet another Premier League match for Newcastle United. What will happen at St James Park this week? Who knows. One thing’s for sure, Blackburn Rovers will come hoping that they can spoil the party. Can KK win his first game as Toon boss? We asked the panel…

“Well, it’s been a bumpy couple of months hasn’t it? The team seem to be at a low ebb and our second thrashing at the hands of Man U this season last Saturday was a very painful affair. I’m not sure that Keegan was the right man for the job. I’m not saying he isn’t, just that the jury is still out as far as I’m concerned. However, whatever anyone thinks about that, I think it would be unfair for anyone to blame him. He took over a team already performing badly and with a crushed morale, and he hasn’t had a great deal of opportunity to stamp his mark, although at least we are seeing a bit more football now! No doubt about it, there needs to be a big sort out come May (it’s depressing how often we’ve been thinking like that in recent seasons).

As far as I’m concerned, I keep telling myself that this bad run has to end sometime. Since Keegan was appointed we’ve had a tough run of games. Blackburn are a good side, but they aren’t the likes of Arsenal, Man United and the ressurgent Aston Villa that we’ve been paired up against in recent weeks. Blackburn have had a decent record up here in the past couple of seasons or so, but nevertheless, they are a side that we should be looking to beat at home.I’m hungry for a win, no doubt you all are as well. There’s no real reason, given our recent form, but what the hell, I’m going to be positive about this one and say that we’ll take the three points.

Newcastle 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Howay Lads, time you gave us a win!”

“It’s becoming a depressing time to be a Newcastle United fan, that’s for sure.

We’ve had low ebs over the past few years, with the likes of Souness and Roeder, when we thought all was lost, but we really are close to hitting rock bottom now. It’s funny as well because when Allardyce first came in, I thought to myself “This is it. Things are back on the up for us”; how wrong I was.

Things have actually gotten worse, and they don’t look like they’re going to get any better any time soon. Since the day Bobby Robson got sacked, this side has been in freefall and with a few more defeats (with victories for the sides below us), that freefall could continue into the Championship.

But let’s not talk about relegation. That isn’t the mindset of a Newcastle United fan. We need positivity, one last push, a resurgance which starts against Blackburn on Saturday afternoon. They aren’t ‘world beaters’, they aren’t anything like Manchester United and Arsenal; they’re a side we can and should beat.

Confidence is low but we need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and secure a place in the Premier League next season.

I’m desperate for a thumping, I pray for a victory.

Newcastle United 3-0 Blackburn Rovers. Please prove me right!”
