Your Shout: Pro-Souness Views (2)

Following criticism that N.O was overly critical of Graeme Souness, we set you the readers a challenge, asking you to send in your pro-Souness views and while not many of you took up the challenge, one or two of you did and as promised, here they are, published in full. Thanks to everyone who wrote in.
Newcastle-Online.com reader Michael Dixon, has took up our challenge to write a positive e-mail concerning Graeme Souness and his future as Newcastle United manager. Mike argues that changing manager’s whenever the chips are down is no good for the long-term stability of the club.
There’s been a lot of talk about the Souness debate. Should he stay or should he go? Fans, players, and pundits alike have all had their say and now I’m going to have mine.
I personally think that we should stick with the Scot, at least until the end of the season. The reason for this is that over the years, we have continually changed personnel when things aren’t right - be it players or managers. What good has it done us in the last 10 years? That’s why we are where we are right now.
Continuous change = no silverware!
And although I hate it as an excuse, we have been savaged with injuries this season - it’s a fact! With a bit of luck (and god knows we need it), those injured players will come back, and results should start to pick up.
But, for those boo boys out there, what if we did sack him? Who would we bring in? Who would want to come? Sam Allardyce? Steve Bruce? Steve McClaren? All three seem to be the chairman’s choice, but I think when we got Souness, we got the best of a bad bunch, which included those names.
The only reason a big name would come would be for the pay off they’d get in a years time. And then when you do bring a new manager, they’ll have a clear out, get another £20 - £50 million, and find then themselves in the same position as Souness is right now.
They say when the chips are down its best to stick together and I think its now time for us to conserve all our energy and get behind Souness and the players. And get back that famous atmosphere!!
