Bellamy Happy To Wing It For New Boss

Bellamy on playing out wide on the right-flank:

"The manager knows my best position and so do I - and it's not in midfield. But if he wants me to play out wide and do a job, I have to try to do it to the best of my ability, and that's what I did on Sunday.

"To tell the truth, I don't think I'm that good out there and I am better through the middle up front but we got the three points and that's all that matters.

"I'm not a midfield player - I'm used to making 20-yard runs through the middle. But I had to change my game completely on Sunday.

"I was having to do longer runs and also get back instead of working the channels. It's a massive change for me as a player and I was more tired at Southampton than I usually am after a game."

Toon Irrelevant?

By Craig Hope

So, Alan Smith has labelled Newcastle United irrelevant. We weren't alone however, Liverpool, Rangers and Boro were also included in his list of irrelevance and in doing so the Man Utd striker ensured that four more sets of supporters as well as those of Leeds Utd will boo the Yorkshireman at the next pssible opportunity (14th November at SJP to be precise). He was of course referring to the clubs who made enquiries about him whilst at Leeds.

Well, Alan, all we can say is thankyou. And, I think I will be joined in this appreciation of your neglect by Boro and Liverpool fans alike. Because, as a result of your 'snub' all three clubs have acquired strikers of better quality than yourself.

I hate to admit it but in Hasselbaink and Viduka the Boro have at last managed to assemble a much needed quality front pairing. Eight goals already between them is early evidence of their potency.

Liverpool have purchased Cisse and Luis Garcia. Although yet to prove themselves, Luis Garcia in particular appears a clever player who after a period of adaptation will surely become a success. And to the Toon. Everything about our Dutch acquisition is class. His touch, eye for goal, link up play and even his communication with team-mates.

Smith on the other hand, as well as he started his career at Old Trafford, lacks class and goalscoring ability. He will not score twenty goals a season and definately does not possess the footballing brain required to make the step upto international level. When he plays for England it is evident that his movement is inferior to that of Defoe, Owen and Rooney.

Wouldn't it be great to see Man Utd's poor start continue and for the three 'irrelevant' clubs to finish above them in the league (with Newcastle highest of the three of course).

The 14th of November cannot come soon enough, lets ensure Smith receives a 'warm' (!) welcome and that by this time the Souness revolution is in full swing and the Old Trafford slump has continued.

Michael Gets The Chop

Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra will not play for Barnsley tonight against Manchester City in the League Cup as Souness doesn't want the Gosforth born striker cup tied. Chopra's one-month loan spell at Oakwell runs out on Saturday and despite Paul Hart wanting him for the remainder of the Season, it seems Souness wants to take a look at him before deciding his fate.
