Hello! My name is Dib. I am a boy albino African gray parrot. I have traveled the world with my owner the Captain, and had many an adventure along the way. But the time of adventures I am going to tell you about began when the Captain retired from seafaring and bought the ‘Binnacle’ a big barge that had been converted into a houseboat. Although it was moored on the Tyne near Newcastle it was ship shape and Bristol fashion, as the Captain would often say. As I said earlier I am an albino, pink eyes and white plumage except for my tail feathers, which are a deep red.

Now let me introduce you to my friends and co-adventures.

This is Dab a girl Persian cat, her fur is a smoky blue color. She has a kink in her tail rather like a curve on a corkscrew. Her right eye is a beautiful golden color but over her left eye she sports a black patch. She loves to wear a ribbon in her topknot and is a little vain but also very wise. Dab sort of became boss because she is so good at organizing things and always knows what to do in a strange situation. Also she was already here when the Captain and I arrived.

Dilly is a boy Great Dane pup of a gray sort of color. He is all legs and seems to have a hollow tummy. He has a long swishy tail, which is forever knocking things over. He is very mischievous and always creating trouble. Not because he wants to, but because he is so clumsy. Well he was only a pup so no one really minded and we took it upon our selves to teach him. Dilly was also the most resent member of the family having been rescued by the good Captain from the Benton animal sanctuary.

Doo is a girl mouse who had escaped from a local pet shop and some how made it to the ‘Binnacle’. She has long floppy ears like a spaniel, bright blue eyes and ginger fur. She is very shy; so shy, the captain at the time did not even know she existed, for she had many secret passageways all over the ‘Binnacle’ She also was here before the Captain, and me.


Looking at us you probably think ‘what a strange collection of friends. What could they possibly have in common’ but right from the start we got along very well together. I think it was our oddities that bound us so closely together. Whatever the reason we certainly had great times in our first summer together. Oh I nearly forgot to mention we are quite a musical quartet and we all play an instrument...
