Not at all, we're playing some nice stuff at home and hopefully the away performances will get better starting this weekend. All in all I'm delighted with the way things are going under Sam. Lawro=t***!

It's not even as if we have played fantastic football consistently since Robson's regime anyway. Given the choice of Souness/Roeder football (s*** and losing) or Allardyce football (functional if not exactly total football, winning) what kind of idiot would not see the latter as preferable?

Yes, we haven't lost 4-3 once yet, if he doesn't get his act together and start conceding, I'm going to start picketing outside SJP.

Erm. Have I suddenly stumbled on to a different forum by mistake? I haven't been here as long as most of you, but I can definitely remember some grumblings on this very board not so long ago about our playing style, midfield choices etc. Maybe a lot of people have changed their minds recently

Once again the media are trying to tell us what we are thinking.
Im very happy with the way things are going so far, If someone offered me 17 points from 9 games at the start of the season i would take their f****** hand off. The football has been poor at times but 90% of teams can say that this season.
Im happy with the overall improvement in the team, I can see us going forward and not backwards.

It's improved alot over the last few games, mainly because we have a more balanced side with a proper left back and wingers playing out wide, also Butt and Emre have a good understanding which brings better balance to the centre of midfield.
A Butt/Geremi/Smith trio should never be seen in midfield again.

I think he is aware that we like to see good football and i think he'll be bringing in players who can help us do that. The reason he didn't in the summer was we needed a f*** load of other positions strengthened that are more important than to an extent luxury players.

Happy. Things are coming together and soon all our options on the pitch will be evaluated by SA. I still would like to see him bring in more quality at Christmas....I think he will.
Most happy with Enrique.

Not really. I just fancied proving him wrong (from people on here, anyway). Like him or not, his comments are read/heard by a huge number of people each week, and I wondered where he was getting it from. It appears certainly not here, if a 91%+ majority is anything to go by.

Wasn't happy after the Villa game, but realise that he played that way for a reason, player availability, and not because thats his main tactic. I'd say we've played competently so far and should/will improve.

Where the F*** has this come from, just sh*t stirring, I was really angry when I read that, people have moaned a little on internet forums from time to time but when we are winning I've not heard anyone complaining.

i'd be concerned about our style of football if we were losing easy points, but we're not, apart from one or two games. if it gets points who cares.

In an ideal world, I'm sure we'd all love to see the type of football that we played in the Keegan era.
When Allardyce was appointed I was sceptical about the style of football we would play, and OK, it isn't the most fantastic style, but it's OK. It isn't boring, which is what I feared, and there have been some nice bits to it. It's not like we're hoofing about or anything.
Let's face it, its not like we were playing scintillating stuff under Souness or Roeder, but generally the performances are a lot better, we have a bit of bite and steel to us and are getting results. So I have no problems. If we were getting results, but were playing long ball. I might be critical, but we're not, so I'm happy to settle with 'OK' football - not too exciting, not too boring if it means the team improves.
And I can't say I've heard many complaints. It's just Lawrenson being his usual Gobshite self.

Its not pretty and I think we've had a fairly easy start to the season. If the points roll in then I couldn't give a toss. Any reference to it being the equal of Keegan's sides is laughable.

There's little room for error with the style Allardyce plays.
When it works, as it did on Monday night for instance, it's great as it comes accross as an organised, efficient style that will win you games. When you lose, however, it just looks like flat out ugly and uninspired stuff. The Man City game for instance.
You'll get a bit more slack from fans if you're really trying your best to play eye-catching, "sexy" football as even in defeat the team will generally be showing glimpses of the good stuff they're capable of with a bit more work.
But at the end of the day the main thing for fans is results and, sadly in my opinion, the style Sam plays is growing more and more popular in the game today as it gets results.
