just got back now from a really f***** up night. Was checking the scores every now and then but havent managed to see any highlights. Did we HONESTLY play that s****huh

Dawson was s****, Bent didn't do much, Zokora was s****, Jenas was s****, Kaboul wasnt too bad but got caught out once or twice, Berbatov had the right hump, don't think Cerny had much chance with the goals and made a good save from Owen.

btw i reckon spurs should keep jol. he's been building a team for a while now and they've been punching above their weight since he joined. just cause he's been s**** recently it doesn't mean thats the general trend.

IMO the problem is the team, not Jol.

I agree, but I do think they need to get a more sensible transfer policy.

i.e. no £16m on a striker they didnt REALLY need, and buy a left winger if you need one, dont buy 32 centre mids and play them out there.

Your team as a whole, do you think you are the 5th best? And player for player too.

I personally find the whole spurs to be some what over rated except for a few players (King and Berbs mostly) and feel Jol has done a f****** good job to get you to finish 5th these past two years. Also think that now other teams around you (and us) have strengthend he is going to have a hell of a job replicating that feat and wouldn't be surprised if you finished outside the EU places.

On and I also think one of the reasons you managed to finish 5th was due to most of the teams below you who would push for that spot were either going through a building process, in desperate need of a change/takeover or were in crisis.

This bit is bollocks tbh. We finished fifth on the 05/06 season simply because we played well and deserved it. If anything we should have finished fourth. So if for instance Everton finished fifth this season, would you say that they were lucky because we had a poor season?

oh and to answer your other question, i think we do have the 5th best squad player for player but probably the 15th best squad in terms of playing as a team which is down to the manager and a handful of players that have desperatly let us down.

Spurs have been the 5th best club in the country for the past few years and they've played entertaining football in the process, they've also had the 5th best squad over the past 2 seasons and have been where they deserved to be.

They certainly haven't been punching above their weight.

I think with the improvements we made in the summer that our squad is better now, I don't think we will see the full benefit of it this season though as it'll take time to make them a great team.

So ourselves, Villa, City and West Ham (all teams challenging now) were in prime shape to challenge for 5th? I don't think so. We was doing poor as was City and West Ham, Villa were in a re-build (the two teams not re-building their squads or in need of a change finished 6th and 7th in the 06/07). Look at the diffrence now those teams have got themselves organised, there's fair more competiton for your 5th spot and where are you?

And 5th best player for player? How do you work that out when you don't have the best individual;

Goalkeeper
Defender
Midfielder
Striker

Or the best;

Defence
Midfield
Strike partnership

Out of the teams outside the top 4?

I generally think the two main reasons you did well these past two season was down to  the overall poor form of alot of teams which should of been around you competing for that 5th spot and the work of Jol. Look now at the diffrence it's made that ourselves, Villa, West Ham and Man City are moving in the right direction. No doubt about it, you'll be found out this season...

You may be right tbh. Was going to mention that you lot are the ones i think can match us player for player outside the top 4 (city and everton imo have strong first teams but not very strong squads overall). Actually come to think of it, i think Blackburn have a stronger squad then both city and definatly Everton.

Can see City buying alot in Jan like they did in the summer. Blackburn have a very good team atm and are quite underrated.

Yea i agree, I also think teams like Everton, Mancity and Villa have strenghened so its pretty hard to say which team is the 5th strongest in the league. Spurs over the past 2 seasons have been the 5th best team and the league proves that. I dont think Spurs will finish top 7 this season, They wont get relegated.

If i was a Spurs fan i would be extremely pissed because end of last season when they finished 5th they had a lot of money for transfers and looked able to push on and to challenge the top 4 but that money was wasted imo, They had enough money to sort out the defence and midfield but wasted it on an average striker.

Bollocks because it isn't bowing to your over rated judgement of your own players? What did you say about Shearer and Berbatov again? Oh, and you have a better striker than Owen? Haha.

And whats the point? You will only argue it.

Cant really call it overrating my players can you when everyone so far that has posted on this topic agreed that we deserved 5th place because we played the best football and were the better team (not s**** about other teams being weakend).

I would love to hear who you have down better then Ledley King tbh? and who's got the best strikeforce again??

What good's the best defender outside the top 4 if he's permanently crocked? You don't actually have that defender, Middlesbrough have him and guess what?

Your defence revolves around King but you've got no back-up for a crock. It's like when we had Woodgate, when he was injured we were bringing in Bramble and O'Brien, you're bringing in two who went to clown college with them in Dawson and Gardner (I don't know too much about Kaboul, didn't look anything special though). You've no squad defensively, which is why you keep getting your arse handed to you.

Enough people have spunked over Berbatov over the past year to populate a world power, but he's showing his inconsistency right now, he started poorly last year and has done the same again. A player better than Shearer and Beardsley (Laughing) should not be having six months on, six months off.
