If I could download it, I might actually pay a bit more so that they could buy a decent server for their website.

Nude (track three) is an odd one, It has the same frailty of Thom Yorkes voice, but its not haunting like previous form would suggest it would be. Enjoyable, nonetheless.

Weird fishes/Arpeggi starts off with nice apreggiated guitar work, like the name suggests. Nice drumbeat, vocals are echoed...nicely layered with sparse lyrics. Xylophones and all kindsa s*** in the background, I like. Quite upbeat without being happy (at all Laughing)

All I Need is a bit like the newer Radiohead (Kid A and a bit of The Eraser) strange melody, very bassy, slow with more glockenspiel and piano. Gets pretty epic and kakophonic at the end (?) I like this track alot.

Faust Arp starts very very HTTF, similar to Myxamatosis vocally, then moves on, getting lighter and nice. Guitar is acoustic and relaxing, with good orchestral backing. Ace.

Reckoner has a great drumbeat, kind of industrial echoes and all sorts. Vocals are high and beautiful, a great contrast between the beat and the vocals/guitar. Dont understand a word he is saying, which is the way I (sometimes) like Radiohead Smile.

House Of Cards...slow, echoed vocals, guitar riff circulates around the song with ghostly wails in the background. Not bad.

Jigsaw Falling Into Place starts off with a nice guitar riff which develops. Thom Yorke style humming makes a melody in the background, while the vocals are quick and breathless. Nice and simple bass.

Videotape...Oooerr, intro is just Vocals and simple piano. The vocals are excellent. Introduction of the drums is inventive and offbeat. Very interesting. Typicals HTTF backing vocals, wall of voices type stuff. Yorke's voice is fragile at points, which adds to the track. Chilling and excellent. Its a goodun!

And thats it...Well, I've only listened to it once, so i can't make a proper judgement. It seems to jump around alot, but I cant decide if that's a bad thing yet. Not a bad track on the album, but If I had to chose the weakest, it'd be House of Cards, with the best track being between All I Need, Faust Arp and Videotape.

Paid £2, haven't received my second e-mail yet. If I'd done it illegally, I'd have it by now.

If I downloaded this illegally, shouldn't I get some sort of preservation bonus from the record companies?

So their site has crashed then?

Even so I'll keep trying.

Chez, this is what I was talking about when I criticised the record industry for failing to know how to tackle the issue of downloads, the illegal market is so big simply because they have failed miserably to figure out what to do with a potential new market. Hopefully now that they've had it spelled out for them they'll finally figure it out.

A lot of people have swarmed onto thier site I imagine for downloads.

Great idea full power to them.

On Faust Arp it sounds like Yorke is singing "Going to football, seeing the Rooneys tumbling, tumbling, in duplicate, and triplicate" at around 00:50 Laughing

Don't like them, but total respect for this.

To the future.

Five Live reckoned the average so far is around £4.

Fair play I say, a unique, mature approach and it's paying off. Excellent low-cost promotion too.

I eventually paid £3.99 for it. I don't know why I didn't just pay £4, in hindsight. Or £3.50.

Anyway, I haven't listened to it yet. I was going to burn it to a cd then play it in the car on the way to work, but I forgot to do the actual bit where you burn it and ended up bringing a blank disc with me. Never mind.

Hardly a groundbreaking approach, others have been doing this for years. It's called busking. {$default_roll_eyes_smiley}

You hear what buskers are playing before you give them money though.

Alright then. It's the Lucky Dip. Mixed with a bit of Daylight Robbery. And a sprinkling of Busking on top.

Satisfied?

Proper break up album like isn't it.

Thom Yorke's Blood on the tracks.

"I never really got there
I just pretended that I had"

Agree that Faust Arp is the best track.  It's the one that blatantly samples Kula Shaker and was included in the little sampler they released a few months back.

Probably going to pay something for this, just for the principle of it. Normally, I might not even had listened to it, but they've been on South Park, I really like the idea, so I should show some support

I couldn't wait for the site to come back up.  I feel daft going back later to pay for what I've already got...but I will, just in the hope that it becomes the way forward.

Imagine it, the built up area of musical promotion will become a desolate wasteland.  Q won't know what to review because the record companies won't be sending them on jaunts to big up their artists.  MTV won't know who to play because they won't have record company money pushed at them to play the same old videos.  Only artists with the wherewithall to produce and put their own music out there will survive, the playing field will be levelled and the sheer volume of what's available will diversify all musical tastes, as the record companies crumble without their highest earner...the back catalogues of quality musicians as opposed to the quick buck of a one hit wonder barbie doll who needs their vocals fixed to f***.

On the other hand the world might come crashing down on the "artists" who refuse the record industry dollar and therefore get no coverage, while the manufactured s**** that needs every ounce of pushing it can get thrives due to the sheer weight of promotion.
