Seriously, how can anyone even justify £500,000 a week?

What's that compared to baseball, basketball wages?

On par with baseball contracts, sorta.  A-Rod has a similar deal, but the contract length is longer.  Beckham
will be the highest payed athlete in North America.

I like to think that my posts are GREAT, and think everyones bumfucks me for writing something meaningful, but I ignore the fact that I'm really being bumfucked because I have the power. I'm a little bit like Alan Oliver and like to force my own ideas onto others. That is why I bummed Ottmar Hitzfeld so much and campaig

The wages have been higly inflated in the media.  His salary is actually only 51m over 5 years, with the rest coming from endorsements.  It's still a high salary for a pro athlete in America, but by no means the highest.

Sorry, that's $51m over 5 years.  I think that works out to about £100,000 p/w.

Guess he won't be the highest paid athlete after all.  Thanks for the clarification.
