Upgraded WMP from 10 to 11 but,

Because I'm running a 'dodgy' version of windows it has told me I need to 'validate' before I can install WMP 11.

How can I validate?

You can't stop what you can't see.

I dont think you can.

You need the original CD to validate.

Type your problem into google and see what comes up, but i doubt the mods on here will really want it going any further.

What you've got to do is to download the installer, then instead of opening it you want to extract all of the files to a new folder (you'll need some seperate software for this, 7zip or winrar should do it). Then you will want to open wmp11.exe and wmfdist11.exe in the folder seperately.

Then reboot and it should work

Ah, well I just validated my PC anyway (running an XP copy), and it worked fine. In my case, I made sure the original, legal OS-running PC was turned off untill I had gone through the validation process. Either way, everythings working fine my end.

Sorry, https://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx

It skips the online WGA check.

Sounds like you're missing a codec. Which site?

Well that's the thing any site that requires me to use Media player, if that's the case then do I have to download the codec from Microsoft?

I'm not sure, but try installing xvid. That, and try the option in Help (I think) to update WMP.
