bluebigrazz.gif  Seriously though, do you not think you might all be obsessing a bit too much over some of the things that happen in the series?  I think it's entertaining enough as a TV show but I very much doubt the creators are anywhere near as clever as some of you lot give them credit for with all of the puzzles etc. that you're desperately looking for the answers to.

This is JJ Abrams we're talking about ffs

The details -- and the discussion which emanates from them -- are what seperate it from other shows. The creators may occasionally f*** things up, but generally they get the small hints and details absoluteley spot on. There's so many things which happen, which are hinted at countless episodes earlier in a small innocuous piece of dialogue, or a prop which nobody even noticed the first time round. That's why it's pretty cool to spot those things pre-emptively, even though it's impossibly difficult some times.

Even IF the whole thing isn't as clever as it pretends to be, it's still more fun to watch it interactively than it is to watch it mindlessly.

I know prison break is good but lost pisses all over it from a great hight.

I think LOST on good form is better than Prison Break even when it's on it's VERY best form, but Prison Break was still slightly more consistent throughout the entire year. LOST season two was too up and down - too many filler episodes, too much information being thrown around, and not enough character believability. I really have high hopes for season three though, based on what's being said about it.

Canny easy to hint at something that's going to happen three episodes hence and then make sure you include that reference though isn't it.  Gets all you dweebs chasing your tails trying to work out what's going on though, so it's working. Wink  I predict that it'll become rambling and dull as their desire to make a quality TV show gets overtaken by their greed to wring all of the revenue out of the franchise that they can.  There's already evidence of this as early as series 2 - as you've said yourself, far too much filler.....padding things out for the cash?

Bookmark this page Andy.  I'll be back in 2009 as we move into series 7 with the series creators telling us that their previous hopes to get the thing done in 6 seasons just wasn't enough for the complexity of the storylines yadda yadda yadda.

The padding out isn't anything to do with the creators, it's the network. Damon Lindelof, Carlton Cuse and Abrams (the head writers) have all said that it's their intention to finish it at the end of season 5, and if ABC don't let them do that then they'll basically quit the network altogether. Considering the lack of real creative talent in the industry at the moment, I'd say that ABC would be pretty silly to go against their wishes just so they can earn a few extra $$$. Lindelof and Abrams are considered their best writers (hence the decission to put them together on the most expensive pilot ever), there's no way in hell they'll want to lose them both. They won't take that risk.

On top of that, ABC doubtlessly know that if they keep dragging shows like this out, then eventually people just won't bother watching anything new that they air. It's only in their best interests to end it on the writers' terms in all honesty, and they'd have to be very dumb to not see that.

I've just heard that William Mapother flew to Hawaii last week to record scenes for the show, which of course means that Ethan Rom will feature at some point during the first six episodes. Could he be in flashbacks of one of "The Others" maybe?

Given the amount of content that was laid forward last season, 5 years is not a lot at all.

Even the x-files had less potential mythology than lost, yet it went on for an almost infinite period of time.

Spoilerfix update:

08/25 - A little birdie told me William Mapother was in Hawaii last week -- and he exactly wasn't sipping mai tais by the pool, but rather, he was working his wonderfully creepy Ethan magic. Simply put in the words of executive producer Bryan Burke: "The Hatch is gone. Done. We have new sets that have been built on our soundstage, so it's a whole new world for you." It looks as if Kate is spending some quality time in close quarters with good ol' Henry. Rodrigo said that he won't appear on the show until February. Turns out, Rodrigo is still under contract with Globo TV. He said they're letting him take a sabbatical to shoot Lost, and then he'll go back to Globo, so it doesn't sound like he'll be sticking around all that long in Hawaii. Rodrigo said, "I'm going to be one of the survivors from the plane that apparently was on the island all this time. I'm going to be a character with a past." Terry O'Quinn revealed that "I've heard that [the why was Locke in a wheelchair explanation is] going to happen this season. I'm not sure when it will happen but I have heard that it will." Source: Kristin on E!Online
08/24 - It will be revealed that Jack has met one of "The Others" back in the real world; this will relate to why he is the only one they are able to cooperate with, although he will be extremely wary in the beginning. Get ready for politics-on-the-beach when the clique returns Jack-less and limping to confront a populace ready for regime change, and an aggressive new leader with a dangerous motivation. Source: The Tail Section
08/24 - [During the Season 2 DVD Launch Party,] Matthew Fox was on set shooting flashback scenes with Julie Bowen (who plays Jack's wife, Sarah). Source: USA Today

It looks like 5 & 6 are going to be Locke/Jack flashbacks, in whatever order. We already know that Matthew Fox was filming scenes a few weeks ago obviously, and now Terry O'Quinn has been spotted filming an airport scene.

I guess that means that Henry Gale and the new characters will be held back for the main season.

Anyone who's going to buy Series 2 on DVD, you can get it much cheaper on playusa.com than you can on play.com. It'll be region 1 of course so make sure it'll play on your DVD recorder.

It's released on 05/09/06 in America and costs £29.99 on playusa.com.

It's not released until 02/10/06 over here and costs £45.99 on play.com.

Just listening to LOST podcast and interestingly Jorge Garcia pretty much confirmed the whole time thing is different on island to outside. It feels like months but it's only been days. He was stopped halfway through by the producer who saying "Stop there, stop there." and the other actors looked shocked that he revealed it.

That was Damon Lindelof not Jorge Garcia Wink

Lindelof has a strange sense of humour, take the time thing with a pinch of salt. I'd be very surprised if he'd revealed a pretty major plot revelation at an event like comic-con.

I try not to watch the trailers.  They tend to make the episodes out to be better than they are.
