The show ends however you want it to end, and it's clearly been left open for any possible film that comes along.

The image of Paulie about to hit that cat with the broom and then Tony walking in will stay with me forever.

Seems it was, could have been done better, but what a fantastic way to end it. Film is possible now, even possible to go back to the series. It lives on! If it lives on I'd be shocked. "They say you don't even hear it comin'" Watched the ending a few times...Was there a flash screen? Beautiful ending. A great vulernability about it. Not that I saw. Can't decide if Chase had me whacked or Tony. I like to think it's the former.

Great ending, would make no sense to have been killed. Not after the whole episodes unfolded the way it did. It is clearly up to the viewer to decide though, but I think it was obviously left the way it was in case any deals were met for a film or reunion.

It'll be back. Won't be the same without Christopher. Missed him in the last episodes. I had visions of him saving Tony in some big shoot out.

If this is the end (as I think it definitely is, seeing as how Chase has always said he new exactly how it was going to end from the start), then it's a fantastic, daring, fitting end. If it ever comes back, the ending will be shown to be a complete cop out and I wouldn't want to be cheated like that again.

Some of the s**** on the IMDB boards is unbearable, but every now and then someone sums things up quite nicely... Did anyone catch the scene between Tony and mink eating? How Mink was looking at the monitors, checking the boobies and the strippers? All the while, he’s talking to Tony, almost appeasing his every concern solely for the purpose of looking at the Boobies longer… never giving concern to the fact that his client, the WHALE known as Tony Soprano is going to jail for a long time, after a very long trial… this will come into play later, bare with me!
The cat is Chase’s nod to the fans. When the cat was staring at Chrissie’s picture on the wall, I felt sorry for the cat. I felt like that cat after Tony killed Chris. That DVD Player commercial Imperiolli’s in for Toshiba that came on the day after Heidi & Kennedy aired made me feel the same way. I and many others like Chris. ANYWAY, the cat is us, wishing the show, the family, and yes, our fav character Christopher, would go on and continue. But it is not to be.
Paulie doesn’t want anything to do with the business anymore. I’ve seen many scowls from Paulie Walnuts, but none so “fed-up” as he was last night. And not in a “revenge” kind of way. Paulie just looks like he’s had enough. He doesn’t jump at the chance to run the “Chinese fire-drill”, as Tony put it, because he really doesn’t have the moxy anymore! I don’t blame him, but I digress. The last scene where they’re at the diner… I know they didn’t show anything conclusive and if all you want is to beef with me about that, you’ll be wasting your time. This show is a hit because it functions on the premise of intelligence. It does not look to give us step-by-step explanations…its intelligence works on the audience’s and ALWAYS HAS. This is why we love this show and are peaved that we have no replacement. Incidentally, I cancelled my HBO last night…. after the credit roll…. Entourage is GAY!
So here goes! Tony is pinched. The feds are closer than they have ever been! They have a pair of rats, Carlo and his phaggot son, RICO statutes, and a mountain of evidence that once Carlo testifies, you know Tony will be breaking rocks at best for the next twenty years… life over. Now, Tony’s waiting for his family to arrive. Point of view or not, what we as an audience see is the end of this show. David Chase has respect for his audience and a clear appreciation for them too. This is why, I think, he doesn't give us a bloody Tony and family...
We were not shown his demise. It is a certainty tho’ and I will tell you why. The feds, Carlo’s betrayal for his scumbag idiot son, and the war that just ended between NY and NJ, are what I think are clear indicators. Tony is now a liability to the whole structure of the East Coast mafia. Considering all the shyt that had occurred over the last four-five epis, as a fellow Mafioso, would you trust Tony to not flip given the extent of the Fed clutch on Carlo? This is why I believe, IMHO, that Tony gets whacked in the last scene.
I agree with us seeing all we need to see as Tony being riddled with bullets is NOT what I wanted to see! But I know that this is the end for him. Were else can he go? What moves does he have left? Everyone is either dead or lost their pair in “the war”. Chase DOES NOT show us this, hint at it he DOES, but he doesn’t show us because leaving it up to speculation kinda gives the show immortality. A genius move if you ask me, especially if you want to entertain the "notion" of putting a movie together about them, that continues the story from the finale on. It leaves it open for speculation as to a movie, prequel series, prequel movie, etc. Forget the implications as far as the plot go! We are all smart. We’ve been with the show for YEARS. We know how this story ends, don’t we? Does that mean we actually need to SEE IT?! I think Chase gave this to us. We will always debate it, his reasons, and the ending. Immortality…genius!
Not many moves for Tony at the end, but the fans, we see him happy, with his family, and alive…. if only for the next moment… what goes around comes around. And I believe this in my heart because he's a liability now. His boy has turned states evidence and kinda messed everything up... for that moron son of his.... people want to talk about AJ!

To be fair, Chase hasn't ruled out a movie, so it's not as clear cut as that post makes out. Chase has said if he comes up with a good idea, that he thinks will fit, then he will do it.

Personally I don't want to see them come back with a movie or anything. Don't sell out and leave the ending just how it is as it was perfect. As I've previously mentioned is the only thing I'd like to see it return with is some form of a prequel series as the potential for that is awesome.

Steven Van Zandt was quoted as saying, "I don't think it's over." Think it could be possible in two or three years. Quote a u-turn on him saying, before the second last episode, "it would have to be a prequel."
The actors played the whole thing brilliantly, not letting one what was happening at all. No spoilers, no ruin.

He's thought about it, I read, but not your scenario. Was suggested he do the beginning, arriving in 1910. I kind of agree though, although I don't think it would be selling out. To simplistic a thing to say, as it's been movie material from start to finish. It would be better to just leave it, but I wouldn't mind it returning for one big blast. See when Harris cheers, what do you think he's celebrating? Been wondering about this.
