1  Football / NUFC / Re: injuries on: Today at 02:34:59 PM
In my opinion:

4 injuries to players who we really miss in the team.  N'Zogbia, Duff, Butt, Owen. (Plus a suspension to Parker.)
4 injuries to players who would be useful in a full squad but aren't good enough to miss.  Harper, Ramage, Moore, Ameobi.
And 4 injuries to players we are better off without.  Carr, Bernard (without evidence to the contrary), Babayaro, Bramble.

This injury "crisis" is only slightly worse than most teams at this point in the season if you factor in the fact that only 4 are really noteable absentees.  A better question than "why does this keep happening" would be "why didn't we improve the squad this summer?"  We went into the season with a past-it right-back with no cover and a mistake prone injury prone left-back with a token fan appeasement signing (Bernard) as his cover.  Zero money spent.  This was entirely predictable.

I disagree as the "back up" players that are injured means that we've had to call on youth players. I don't know of any other teams in the league who are missing 6 defenders.

Bollocks! Was just about to purchase some tickets for the Premier League Darts at the Arena when I realised it's the same night as the home leg of the UEFA Cup. Which muppet put it on that date??

Last year was class at the Seaham Leisure Centre even if we were surrounded by a bunch of inbred Mackems and I was really looking forward to it this year.  bluecry.gif

They're on but only every half hour after about 10 I think. F***ing shit really!

My cousin told me yesterday that the London Underground is running until 4am and is free - I don't know how Londoners can complain about the Tube - it's a much better service than the Metro!

Anyone know when "Traveler" starts? tv.com still has it down at January 1st (it actually has that for every episode!) but abc.com still just says "coming soon".
10  Football / NUFC / Re: Police at Everton on: December 31, 2006, 11:58:22 AM
It's been happening at your place for years.

Police asking to have a look at your ticket, putting it in their pocket and asking where your ticket is before arresting you is a particular favourite at St James'

...and Elland Road.

Apparently.

What fucked me off at the Bolton match was people carrying on after 10 minutes as if we were 4-0 up with chants of "Roeder give us a wave" and then cheering passes a bit later on!
12  Football / Ticket News and Travel / Re: West Ham (H) 20/01/07 - AWAITING TICKET DETAILS on: December 30, 2006, 08:32:45 PM
Can you tell me when these details are likely to be available?

The reason I'm asking is that Im heading down from Glasgow with the wife for the weekend and having been an armchair fan of Newcastle United for a few years now I was hoping I could get a couple of tickets for this game.

Also I am staying in a hotel on the riverside, Malmaison or something, is this far from the stadium?

And any pre match watering holes would be appreciated

Any info apprecited

JIM

Malmaison eh? Get you!  tongue.gif

Ticket details will probably be anounced very shortly into the New Year and will more than likely go on sale on Monday 8th January.

The Malmaison is about a 15-20 minute walk from the ground. The simplest way is to walk along the Quayside towards the Tyne Bridge and then walk up The Side and then Gray Street from there. Alternatively you could jump on one of the yellow buses which will take you up to the Haymarket Bus Station. (you'll have to check which bus you need as there are 2 different routes for the yellow buses) There's plenty of pubs around there to choose from.

Haven't seen the match as it wasn't on Art Sports after all, didn't listen to any of it and can't be arsed to trawl through this thread so can someone tell me which defender was injured please?

Directions

From the North M1
Thanks to Robert Donaldson, a visiting Stockport County fan, for providing the following directions; 'At the end of the M1, turn right (west) onto the A406 (North Circular) and follow it towards Harrow for nearly 4.5 miles. Turn left (east) onto the A40 heading into London (passing close to Loftus Road and after a little over 4 miles turn right (west) onto the A402 for just about 350 yards. Here you turn left (south) along the A219 for a little over half a mile. This brings you into Hammersmith where you turn right onto the A315 and then after just 130 yards or so turn left (south) back onto the A219. Follow this road for a little over a mile, and the ground down the side streets off to your right.

From The North M40 & West M25
Leave the M25 at Junction 15 and take the M4, which then becomes the A4, towards Central London. After around two miles branch off left into Hammersmith Broadway (before the flyover). Go around the ring road around central Hammersmith, keeping to the right. Then take the A219 Fulham Palace Road. Keep straight on this road, passing Charing Cross Hospital on your left. After about another half a mile turn right into Crabtree Lane for the ground.

From the South M25
Leave the M25 at Junction 10 and take the A3 towards Central London. After around eight miles, leave the A3 at the turn off for the A219. Take the A219 towards Putney. Continue straight on this road, down Putney High Street and across Putney Bridge. You will see the ground on your left.

Parking is possible in the streets around the ground but they are controlled by council parking meters, so make sure you bring some change, (£1.60 per hour) and early arrival is advised. Parking though is free in these areas in the evenings and on Sundays.

Pubs

Some of the pubs near the ground, have been designated home supporters only, so most away fans are now using the pubs South of the River (across Putney Bridge). The Dukes Head is recommended, which has nice views overlooking the River Thames towards the ground and does good food. It is a Youngs pub with a cosmopolitan atmosphere as it is located next to a number of rowing clubs. Allow twenty minutes to walk from the pub to the ground. David Frear adds; 'The Crabtree on Rainville Road (10 minutes from the ground) welcomes all away supporters and as a Fulham season ticket holder I can tell you that as long as you don't watch your football at Loftus Road you can be assured of a warm welcome'. Andrew Johnson recommends; 'the Zulu Bar (formerly the Kings Head), on Fulham High Street, is one of the nearest to the ground and is always popular with away fans'. Otherwise near to the tube station is the 'Eight Bells' and just further along Fulham High Street is 'The Larrik' and O'Neills.

My first time at birmingham, so where's the pre match pint at?

City centre is best. Avoid anywhere around the ground.

Nowt like villa then?

No. Birmingham fans are a lot more inbred!
