I think the line up will be: -------------Given----------------- Carr-----Boum-----Bramble-----Baba Solano---Clark----Bowyer----Zoggy --------------Sheaer----Luque------
Emre will come on for clark in the last 30 mins and baba will be subbed (Rambage) at half tie for being a half hearted cissie. As fulham don't have the papa doup for this one we should dominate, although carr will have to constantly pull LBM to the ground to scupper his chances. |

I would be absolutely amazed if we "bought" anyone. I think we will see some swaps or loans coming in, nothing more, nothing less.... If I were freddy and were thinking of booting souness (in the summer, next week....) there would be no way I would sanction any more buying, also if I were freddy I would have realised that I had made a grave mistake by appointing souness in the first place and would be hell for leather trying to remedy it!! |

Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: "Potential Banana Skin"? My Arse

I must admit that I agree with the general idea that Souness' media comments are on the whole more negative than positive, his banana skin comment was probably more diplomacy than anything else (I hope), if he really does see it that way he shouldn't be at the helm (forgot, we know this already!). What does worry me is if he is unconsciously like this with the football players, it would be very worrying if he was. As I have stated in past topics, I am a firm believer in the mental preparation for professional (and amateur) athletes and if souness were to be as negative around his players as he is in the press this would breed insecurity and crisis of confidence within the team which leads to nerves and panicked decisions. But this is all supposition so as always without hard eveidence I will assume he is "not guilty" until proven otherwise (over lenient perhaps?). |

I think we all knew that it wouldn't happen really. I was never very confident that freddy would be so stupid as to allow souness more money to spend. I think the only real market moves we will be making are the swaps or sell to buy transfers. I would like to see danny murphy instead of Bowyer, much more consistent and seems like a level headed bloke. I don't know why we are going for french reject defenders who have already been shown the door by other prem clubs???? |

I honestly think that we would be as good to sell him for 10 million and use this money on a couple of good defenders. Harper is premiership quality. Shay does have his failures (high balls and kicking..) but his saving grace is his reflex saves. Couldn't blame him for wanting to go either, doesn't look like we are going to win anything in the near or distant future and his time here has been filled with false dawns.... |

| Aye, that peed me off a bit that they would refuse 6-7 mill from us but accept 5 mill from the blue scum, suppose it had to happen though after the amount of players we've "nicked" from under their toffee noses! |

tODAYS NEWS "IN ELMUNDO DEPORTIVO" Nihat's agent confirms Newcastle are in talks with the player. With owen injured and shearer over the hill, Souness is looking at alternatives. We've just started talks with newcastle, they rang us to ask about his availability. |

For the sake of those who can't read Spanish, this article comes from today's issue of "elmundodeportivo" (Sports world) and basically says: A new actor has been added to the ongoing movie "Nihat's Move", it's that historical great from the premier: NUFC.
Newcastle have been in the Sociedad stadium at least five times and like what they saw.
Definite Interest from Spartak aswell.
Would need an offer of 2 million EUROS (1.4 MILLION POUNDS) to start ball rolling.
Nihat will decide between: Earning lots of dosh in Russia or plying his trade in one of the world's best leagues.
COME ON FREDDY YOU FAT ****! IT'S A SNIP!
P.S. The last bit wasn't in the article..... |

Nihat has had a few injury problems in the past and has just recovered from a serious knee injury. But, when him and Kovacevic play together they are awesome, Nihat plays a withdrawn strikers role in the hole and Kopvacevic is your big target man who is also pretty skillful. Nihat has a rasping right foot drive on him and has scored a few crackers from distance, add to this his close ball control and his pace and we have one hell of a player, him and Kovacevic have been real sociedads star players for a few seasons. I have got my fingers crossed that we get him!!! |

I agree with you (gasuso) on most of your points, I know the question at the end was put to Wullie but being a nosy so and so I thought I would answer aswell.... I would go with the following team with tactics to follow: ------------Harper------------- Given needs a rest and we need more noise and coordination behind the back four. Strict instructions to harper to shout his bollox off during the game and to shove our back four further up the field to close the gaps that always appear between midfield and defense. . Carr----Boum---Ramage---Baba Carr would be told to give nobby support only when needed and to do as he always does; if they get past you bpull em' down. Boum would be told to play more as a sweeper for ramage and his full backs and to utilise his pace, don't try for silly headers leave that to rams who is far better. Ramage would be told to destroy everything and play his usual defensive game, just pass the easy ball or hoof it if necessary. Baba would be told to maintain his position and not move up the line so much as his major failing is being caught out of position, charles can do it by taking his man on. . Solano---Parker---Clark--Zoggy Solano would be told to stick to the wing whilst in possession and to quickly move infield when out of. Parker search and destroy. Clark liberty to roam and to organise midfield through calm and precision passing. Zogg would be on a mission to take on their full back under the same instructions as Nobby. -------Shearer---Luque----- Shearer should niggle and harrass defenders and try to flick on through balls to albert. Luque should always look for the overhead one on one or diagonals to free up some space for al, shoot at will from any distance.
If winning: Luque should never come back further than halfway offering us an option always (never seen to date). Change Clark for faye with 20 mins to go as he hasn't got the legs. Shearer drops closer to midfield to look for possessionand to maintain it. If Losing: Bowyer on for clarky with licence to get forward. Ameobi/Dyer if available on for shearer. General: fast closing down and try to maintain possession even if having to pass backwards (rest time and makes them work). Safety first for defense (howk it out if in doubt). Wing play with quick triagulation and first time crossing for Luque (al for rebound).

My guess is Parker goes to the medical staff and they decide Parker needs an operation. Souness then goes to the medical staff and browbeats them into agreeing that the operation can be held over until the end of the season. I think that he would ASK the medical staff if they think it would be detrimental to his long term health if he played on, they would say "no but he would be in some pain" at which souness would retort "fack oaf ya wee puffs, that cant can play wi hees heed cut oaf" (read with scots accent!!). |

Thanks to Buzza for picking a team which was the one that finished yesterday. It played for 45 mins and lost 2-1 to Boro. The team Souness originally picked with Elliot and Shola played for 45 mins and beat Boro 1-0. Just shows.
My pleasure |

Martin Jol, I think they probably do what you suggested (must be some sort of medical procedure at club!) but due to the distinct lack of vocabulary that our man has he may make mistaken word selections from time to time (see: PROPER, INJURIES, LADY LUCK...etc..etc). |

Gasuso, I wasn't having a go but in reality backing you (see first point). I also think it is due to a) injuries and B) his poor current team selection that we are in our current state. Just for the record: -----Given----- Carr---Boum--Bram---Baba Solano--Clark--Faye--Zog -----Shearer---Luque--- |
