1  Football / NUFC / Re: do you think the players are behind roeder on: November 20, 2006, 08:55:44 AM
they were behind souness too (05/06) yet they never looked comfortable, appeared to be under pressure at all time therefore not getting the right results.
2  Football / NUFC / Re: Norman Hubbard's Where did it all go wrong? -- from Soccernet. on: November 16, 2006, 06:45:16 AM
true, list of bad decisions. 10 of them all combined and created the position we are in.
3  Football / NUFC / Re: Albert Luque on: November 12, 2006, 11:31:59 PM
I feel this time Roeder isnt telling us the truth, he gave empty promises to Luque and false expectation to fans who are expecting to see him play. That is not going to happen.

The situation is not the same with Souness two years ago where he clearly intended to offload Bellamy and whoever he thought created disharmony. I took that as a justification, regardless if it was correct or not.

At this time there is no way Roeder can defend his stance on him. Luque has done what the manager demanded him to do and not getting the reward. And the worst part about it is that his decision contributes to our results. Anyone who thinks Luque must not be in the team for whatever reason must look at our recent results, Newcastle= zero goals.

We probably would not care much if we are doing alright in the league and if at the same time Luque doesnt give a shit about his Newcastle career. This is the complete opposite.
4  Football / NUFC / Re: Manchester City V Newcastle United - Post Match Thoughts. on: November 12, 2006, 02:22:07 AM
In my opinion, Ameobi's involvement was the worst football decision ever made by a Newcastle manager since Gullit dropped Shearer. Unbelievable.

26th min, parker and emre collided. FS can sack roeder now.
6  Football / NUFC / Re: Albert Luque on: November 09, 2006, 06:25:33 AM
I used to believe he would never come good and rather to see him leaving last summer to give way for a new striker to arrive. His goals against mackems and Celtic didnt change my opinion but when he scored that goal against Lillestrom I started to believe in what he can do for us.

That game against Lillestorm and at Palermo, especially the first one, were very important games. On both occasion we demanded him to perform and he did, he failed the previous tests but passed the exams and that is what really matter for me personally.

I feel this a period when we need someone to step up and inspire us, Sibierksi and Parker are capable because they are captain materials. Two other players who I think can take us further and change our season are Dyer and Luque. Dyer because he was the highlight of Souness time and he was proven to be a major lost when we were knocked out of UEFA and FA cup. Luque, as I mentioned earlier, have stepped up in major occasions when no one appered would do that. Certainly he has the talent. In my opinion we can no longer use lazy/disinterested as a reason, I feel with such limited chances he has done enough to prove that WE need to play him.
7  Football / NUFC / Re: Who is your favourite Newcastle Player? on: November 09, 2006, 12:13:08 AM
Nobby, all time favorite.

At the moment, Ramage, Dyer and Luque.
8  Football / NUFC / Re: How will tonight affect Newcastle? on: November 08, 2006, 03:18:37 AM
Buys Roeder more time and boosts Parker's confidence.

Man City is yet to concede a goal at home and Arsenal will start converting chances against us. Goodbye, Roeder.
9  Football / NUFC / Re: Albert Luque on: November 08, 2006, 03:08:19 AM
I think over the past few weeks he has been showing determination and doing what he was told by Roeder.

It is becoming more and more obvious that Roeder simply dislikes him for personal reason and nothing to do with footballing decision. That makes him in the lower level than Souness, because he cant justify why he abandoned Luque. Now I personally started to accept what West Ham fans said about him which I initially rejected.

Roeder is not as professional/nice as many people thought. It is a false perception.
10  Football / NUFC / Re: Claudio Ranieri on: November 05, 2006, 10:35:01 AM
He handled pressure from Roman very well at Chelsea, he should be able to handle FS. But I still prefer FS to leave the club.
11  Football / NUFC / Re: Claudio Ranieri on: November 05, 2006, 10:32:18 AM
I agree when you back up your suggestion with us having Duff, Parker and Babayaro. He will be interested and appeared to me as more likely option to Hitzfeld/Sven/ Houllier considering where we lay on the table.
12  Football / NUFC / Re: Brute Force And Ignorance on: November 04, 2006, 08:06:44 PM
yes again, today is an example of what has been happening since the start of the season. last season under roeder we played simple 4-4-2 with nzogbia and solano providing crosses for shearer and shola.

today we had 4 wingers and rossi marked tightly by davis and jagielka. we arguably have more skillful players than last season, but better squad? i disagree with that.
13  Football / NUFC / Re: Are we down? on: November 04, 2006, 07:41:30 PM
No, if new players come on january. with or without roeder.
14  Football / NUFC / Re: Brute Force And Ignorance on: November 04, 2006, 07:36:53 PM
yes we have a very unbalanced squad. very much lacking in strength and i guess that is the reason roeder sticks with half fit ameobi rather than rossi/luque.
15  Football / NUFC / Re: Will Roeder resign? on: November 04, 2006, 07:28:32 PM
he must resign and professionally admit he tried but unable to do the job. else, roeder = souness.
16  Football / NUFC / Re: Palermo game, lineup on: November 02, 2006, 03:41:12 AM
just a thought, luque will finally get a start. however, this will be the toughest test for him so far because of the opponent and also the venue.  if he do well tonight, the pressure for roeder to play him in the next few games will increase, otherwise it will be increasingly likely that he will be sold in january.
17  Football / NUFC / Re: I'll defend Roeder on: October 29, 2006, 02:35:22 AM
Roeder gets the blame not because of the way we play. He is too patient with his first eleven and when he chooses not to make any changes while we cant get a goal, he is placing himself in difficult position. For weeks before last Wed, he kept rossi while we missed chance after chance. God knows when Luque gets a game. He is under pressure, but not as much as what Souness got. The circumtances we are in is largely because of Shepherd, but when Roeder does not do what he can he gets the blame as well.
18  Football / NUFC / Re: Is Luque that bad ??? on: October 29, 2006, 02:11:04 AM
He does not think Luque is able to improve our attack/finishing, because he is a let footed and not a natural finisher. I personally think it will be a 50-50 gamble, but worth a shot .

However, Roeder is piling pressure on himself for keeping him on the bench while we struggling to get a goal.
19  Football / NUFC / Re: Lerner shunned Toon on: October 27, 2006, 04:47:37 PM
he used to study at cambridge, and a villa follower.
20  Football / NUFC / Re: Roeder's strengths on: October 25, 2006, 04:53:12 PM
This is the guy who got us from 15th to 7th remember
I wouldn't deny he did very well there but he is out of his depth and the wrong man for the job imo. Souness finished higher than the position he took over from when Robson was sacked too btw. As Toon's Taylor alludes to (tongue firmly in cheek) he would made an excellent Academy Director (or whatever his title was).

Sir Bobby took us from 19th to 11th, moved up 8 places, and Roeder did the similar. He is still cleaning up the mess which Souness created, with his limited managerial skills and difficult chairman I think he deserved more respect for what he achieved. Afterall, it was not his fault that he is still here today. If this question was asked right after the Chelsea game he could have been judged differently, even if we ended up with the same conclusion: Academy Director is the best role for him.
