| I think there were 2 spots open this year, as there traditionally have been over the last few years. Manchester United will still finish 3rd, but now Liverpool are pretty much back into that guaranteed spot now. So from now on, it'll be Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, and Arsenal if they bounce back in the top 4. We had a good chance to get in there, but now it's going to be more diffucult to get CL, because of Chelsea's $£$ and Liverpool's Renaissance. The traditional midtable clubs will be lucky to even have a shot at those in a few years really, because I can't see Arsenal not bouncing back. |

Yep, I think Freddy is getting ever nervous here. That whole thing about Wigan reserves, plus the Christmas form, has got him real worried that we're going down to Mansfield, and Shearer's gonna leave here without a trophy. I can't possibly understand why else the time would be now. In fact, I think right after the transfer window has opened is probably the 2nd worst time to sack a manager, the first being right at the beginning of the season. There are plenty of valid reasons to pull the trigger, but the only one I can think of right now that FFS would consider is the fact that he's genuinely scared of losing to Mansfield, and at least wants one cup run like last year for Shearer nostalgia.
I'm for the firing of Souness whenever, as everyone else is, but why did he wait until now? Absolutley shambolic timing by Shepard again, for the 2nd time in 18 months. How the **** can we be expected to attract players by firing a manager who we have to pay large compensation to, then going into a week or 2 of negotiations with another club to buy out their manager. If he actually does fire Souness in the next 3 days, I'd be very suprised if we had a new manager in under 14 days. Just in time for the transfer window, when we desperatley need to bolster the squad and strikeforce. Great job Freddy |

I hope Souness can get over his thing with Carr. And I'd also like to see Ramage played in his natural position. |

| All this Shearer bashing just blows my mind. There's really nothing to indicate that he's in charge or running things, at least no fact. Rumors have surfaced about him being next manager, but what evidence is there to say that Shearer is running things at this club. He cares more about it than any other employee of the club, and I'm sure he's gutted every time we lose points under clueless Souness. If Souness doesn't have the balls to drop him, then that's not Shearer's fault, and even if he did, more people would be angry about having Chopra-Ameobi up front than anything else. |

| Not keeping possession is a major factor in why we're losing games, and Faye really rarely ever gets the ball, and doesn't appear to want it. And when he does, he usually does nothing special. Clark can at least keep the ball on the ground and in our control, attempting to move it around throughout our offense. Solano-Clark-Parker-Zoggy are 4 guys who can at least hold onto the ball. And perhaps Clark in the middle would allow Nobby to drift wide, where he needs to be. |

you need to find the right manager and say he has a five year contract give him( barring any disasters) five years to do as he pleases. thats what wenger had and he proved himself so stayed longer, the same with fergie at united. houllier got time at liverpool, was successful to an extent but needed replacing after 6 years so in came rafa. he has a long contract and talks about his long term project all the time. despite some people calling for more english influence we appointed a foreign manager and let him import his own players to build his team. if newcastle did that then there is a good chance of success, given the money and support the manager would receive
Good points. This is exactly the reason why, if Souness is terminated before the end of the season, we should wait until the summer to appoint a new manager. Frankly, I'd rather Shearer or one of the assistant managers taking over until the end of the season instead of going out and rush appointing someone. I just think that in all the hubub of a season like we're having, we're bound to go out and pay someone for their manager, rather than just waiting for a time when we can get exactly what we need. As long as we wouldn't be relegated, 4 or 5 months wouldn't be that long to wait, especially when 4 or 5 years seems to be the general formula for time needed for success, as long as the manager was a good appointment, and not a clueless idiot. |

i think its tough that beckham, lampard and gerrard are all guarenteed their spots and they have to try and fit someone else in...
Aside from the fact that Sven makes other stupid selections in defense and in the squad, this is the main reason England will always fail when he's coach. Beckham just isn't a true winger, although he may be a great passer at times. He also isn't a good captain, I think Gerrard would be an incredibly inspirational captain and Terry would be a Adams-esque hard man leading from the back as captain. The whole England squad would be better off if Beckham wasn't starting.
SWP--Gerrard-Lampard-Cole? --------Owen-Rooney
Even with Cole being the weakest part of that group at LW, that's 4 amazing attacking players, and one very good one, as well as Cole, who can go either way really. There isn't any reason why England shouldn't be scoring loads of goals with the addition of good supporting fullbacks like Cole and Neville, but the management is no negative. Yet another example of a manager totally unsuited to the style of players he's coaching. |

| Get it for PC if you can. The game didn't have licenses to do the real players, except from the last world cup and last Champion's Trophy, so they're all fake names. But I've seen 92 world cup patches and county cricket patches planned for the PC. |

| I think Ashton is going to become a big thing in the next few years somewhere in the prem. Yeah, we'd have to pay slightly over the odds, because Norwich don't want to sell, but I think we'd end up regretting it if we didn't |
