The whole case with Bernard makes me so frustrated. Roeder and co. went on for ages about how we were "in pole position" to sign 3 world class players. We didn't, but we did bring back Bernard. This happened about 3 games into the season. If we were gonna sign him for free (i.e. no effort needed) why didn't we sign him earlier so that he could have a full pre-season under his belt.

Having had a quick skim through this thread, I really can't believe how naive some people are. We are talking about the man who "dissed Newcastle" saying all geordie women were slags and that the town was a dump. This is he guy who sacked Bobby Robson. You don't honestly think we should worship him because he spent so much on Owen etc. He didnt buy the club just for fun. It's a business for him. The last financial year was a disaster for him, beacause the club lost him HIS money. It's in his own interests to buy big players. Plus, he used last season's low position to strenghthen his hold over the club, I'm sure you're all aware of his massive share purchases. Well he was able to do that because we only came 13th in 2004/2005.
