The most overated young player since Ibrahimovic...
Milner/Ambrose/Jenas were more over rated than Rooney to be fair. |

Whilst he's obviously not past his best, I'd take Ronaldo over him any day.
Aye. Imagine how many we wouldn't score with those pin point crosses getting whipped in to Shola |

Got a hunch he nots going to run out of steam.
I'd say he's more in danger of losing interest or 'running out of steam' than any other young player. He's reached the very top so early in his career, playing for Man Utd, automatic in the England team... he hasn't got the same motives to improve as other young players do. Getting to the top early didn't seem to affect players like Pele, Maradona etc Cesc Fabregas will be worrying if he reads this thead tbh Oh well if it didn't affect those two players then it DEFINATELY won't effect Rooney then
Of course, I merely pointed out that there's a risk of it happening, and not that it would.
You could argue that Pele and Maradonna weren't effected because their game was based more on natural ability (which you don't tend to lose) than Rooney's, and whilst Rooney has natural ability, his best performances come because of his extraordinary work rate and enthusiasm. |

He's got the kind of body-type that will pile on the weight if he does let standards slip I reckon |

The kid is a genious......end of.
The majority of 'the kids' game is based on his tremendous enthusiasm and work rate. Whilst he does have a LOT of ability, sometimes that enthusiasm and work rate that brings the best of his ability onto display doesn't always last throughout a players career.

To be fair, Owen was at his best in his teen years so this post isn't exactly outrageous.
Rooney will never be 'shit' and it is questionable whether he can maintain the form from his early career throughout his whole career. |

flame-wars allowed suddenly? Don't mind them myself, I just don't like GeJon but can't be arsed to report him, even though he clearly deserves a banning (cause if i did I'd be a either a 12 year old, a c*** or even a 12 year old c***!)
Aye, he's following more than one person around right now and screwing up threads. Flooded me with PM's the other day anarl, completely out of the blue, like. He has his 'supporters' though, who will stand by him no matter what. He used to be one of 'them'. He's exempt from forum rules. Done exactly the same to me with PM's, deserves banning but it will never happen More exclusive pics from Dave's house
UG UG UG! FLAME WAR! BAN! OHhhhhh wait, it's Gejon.
*quickly bans somebody else harshly to compensate for letting Gejon off* |

Must say, the last decent Charlton player I can recall us buying (Rob Lee) went on to be a legend for us, and is and will always be one of my all time favourite NUFC players.
Maybe we'd get lucky again...
Good job we didn't get Parker directly from Charlton then, thank god for that wasted season at Chelsea. Probably how Liverpool and Tottenham fans felt about Newcastle in the good old days, eh. Kennedy/McDermott, Waddle/Gascoigne. Just like Charlton, a selling club with the ambition of staying in the top flight. I'll get me coat........ So you named 4 big players that we sold pre 1992? Let be do the same for post 92...
Cole/Hamman/Woodgate/Jenas.

Garth... it's not a real story. Got to be straight with you now.
Ah right! thanks for that, I feel absolutely stupid, I suppose I should stop and read it more carefully instead of just quickly looking and not realising it was just bullshit. Why did you tell him? would've been fun to take the piss out of him Because it's melanchronic, forum superbore (often over-optimistic too) |

When I masturbate I prefer to do it with my penis rather than my fretboard.
Your penis and a Dale Winton photo I presume. And the point of that post is? The point was to insult Verlaine and also try and provide some humour.
Sorry if I disappointed |

Football / NUFC / Royals duo land improved deals

[nobby] https://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,2483_1818581,00.html
Reading director of football Nicky Hammond has hailed Kevin Doyle's decision to sign a new two-and-a-half year deal as a major coup.
The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland striker has been handed a pay rise following 10 Premiership strikes in the Royals' first top-flight campaign.
Fellow countryman Stephen Hunt, who hit the headlines in October for the challenge that left Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech with a fractured skull, has also signed a new deal.
Hunt, whose previous contract was due to expire in the summer, is now contracted until the summer of 2009.
Like the Royals themselves, who thrashed West Ham 6-0 on New Year's Day, Doyle has been one of the surprise packages of the season.
The 23-year-old is the Premiership's third most prolific scorer so far and cost just £78,000 from Cork City two summers ago - the equivalent of 360 Andrey Shevchenkos.
Hammond said: "Kevin's contract extension is very significant and of major importance to our plans moving forward.
"He has quickly become an outstanding Premiership striker, and the great thing about Kevin is that despite all his success and his meteoric rise in the past 18 months, he's still the same level-headed young man who joined us from Cork."
Hunt, 25, has been in and out of the side this season and received death threats through the post in the wake of the Cech incident, which Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho branded reckless.
But Hammond insisted there was more to the former Brentford man than that unfortunate incident in the first minute of his first top-flight start.
He said: "Stephen as been terrific for us since joining and I'm delighted that he's signed for two more years. He has great energy levels, bags of enthusiasm and is a real breath of fresh air around the training ground every day."
Chairman John Madejski added: "This is extremely good news and I am delighted that Kevin and Stephen have committed themselves to Reading.
"They are two of the nicest lads you could possibly wish to meet, and they are both very important players who epitomise everything that is good about football." [/nobby] |
