Regular? He is not even a regular player in our team, so he isn't any regular penalty taker!

It is just a friendly. England have had a huge advantage. It would be silly not to let Crouch to take the penalty.

You will however miss that atmosphere.

You might not like it, but I like it.

My apologies it wasn't intentional. I started typing without realising where the cursor is. Sorry.
7  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Southgate - Boro Boss on: Today at 02:37:02 AM
You speak with such authority, I'm beginning to wonder if you're perhaps a club insider. Aff!

You got any idea how long it can take to fully recover from a life-threatening brain tumour? Nah. Didn't reckon so, either.

Roeder has stated many a times in the his caretaker tenure that he has NO intention of returning to football frontline. WHY would a person with no intention to becoming a manager again take the coaching course?

Anyway, let's not get into any debate on if Roeder's excuse is valid. Let's agree to disagree.
8  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Heskey likely to sign on: Today at 12:26:32 AM
the idea of us not replacing Ameobi is more scary.

Equally scary is to replace him with Heskey at the price of 2 millions!
9  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Southgate - Boro Boss on: Today at 12:04:29 AM
In that 5 years, Roeder quit football for 3 years and became the Newcastle United Academy Director for 1 year. I don't know how these could prevent Roeder from taking the course. After becoming the Newcastle United caretaker manager he has yet to retake the course. Only until it becomes clear that Shepherd wants him that he decide to take the course this year. Roeder has admitted himself that he thought that he did not want to become a manager again after he was sacked. And it is this very reason that he didn't continue his course.
10  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Chelsea finally sign Mikel, for 16 mill on: Yesterday at 11:59:32 PM
This saga is more about flexing muscle and sending out a message to clubs like Man Utd that Chelsea can stop them on the field and off it, than signing a talented player who will become a key player for Chelase in years to come. You could say where Man Utd are concerned they are getting a taste of their own medicine, but for the game in general, yet more posion injected into the game by sheer wealth.

In retrospect I now think the signings of Ballack and Shevchenko also carry an underlying message. I think because they haven't been taken serious yet as a major force by the wider game, they are sending out the message that no club can hang on to a player if Chelsea come knocking, or that no player can turn them down if they show an interest, even if they are a free agent and can pick and choose.

When will it end?

I don't really care. At the end it takes a great manager to make all these egoistic great players to gel and get great results. Chelsea have a lot of money but money is not only/most important factor that attract Ballacks and Schevchenko.

Munich and Milan have stalled over the years under the current coaches (Magath and Ancellotti). The players have already achieved waht they could achieve with their respective clubs. They are still not old, it is only natural for them to move when the right opportunity arrive. If they are thirty something they would either have to retire or move to smaller clubs!
11  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Heskey likely to sign on: Yesterday at 11:54:41 PM
We should propose a Heskey for Shola swap blueyes.gif (no sarcasm)

Laughing why not though?? Shola would finally be where he belongs (not here)
And we'd have a decent back up striker, who can atually play and win a header.

Unfortunately, after he wins the header he will head it well off the goal!

I think Heskey is toooo unprolific to be considered. In Birmingham where he is the main striker he only scored 11 goals  in 2004/2005, the year which he was the best player in the club. Ameobi is not the main striker in this club but he still manage to score 9 goals.

If I were given a choice of 2 million Heskey and free Chopra/Ameobi, free Chopra/Ameobi for me!

If he hasn't got the qualifications then he shouldn't be allowed to manage. Simple as...

Agreed.

When did he manage the spanners?

When did he suffer a life threatening condition?  There were good reasons why GR didn't get the Pro badge, Southgate hasn't got any excuse other than the fact he couldn't be arsed!

But Martin Jol, Roeder has got 5 years after he last managed the Hammer. And he wasn't managing the Hammer when the rule was enforced.
13  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Would it benefit Newcastle if... on: Yesterday at 11:39:17 PM
I don't care how many Ivorian Coast players Beveren have in the club, or how little Belgium players are. To me a club operate with a certain objective and philopsophy and it is their pregorative.

From what I have read from BBC Newsnight it does strike me that Arsenal are in remote indirect control of Beveren. Apparently Arsenal loaned a million pound to a Belgium company to take over Beveren.

But do Arsenal have any say in Beveren's ownership and club operation? If there isn't any (secret) paper signed between Arsenal and Beveren on this then perhaps the FIFA can hardly do anything. Arsenal should be punished if they are found to breach the FIFA rules.

This aside, have the Arsenal Beveren partnership really help Arsenal? Other than Eboue and Toure Arsenal haven't really benefited a lot from this partnership.

15  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Chelsea finally sign Mikel, for 16 mill on: Yesterday at 10:29:43 PM
Well his own greed as well.

He signed for United without the presence of his parents and his agent. That says A LOT of him.
16  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Chelsea finally sign Mikel, for 16 mill on: Yesterday at 10:26:56 PM

last seen playing right back for them ahead of Ferreira!

Midfielders they have (not counting wingers) - Lampard, Essien, Ballack, Makelelelelele, Mikel, Diarra, Geremi, Jarosik...

Somethings gotta give there! Jarosik and Geremi will go no doubt.

We should rty to get Diarra, Geremi and Jarosik! The former two would be good partners to Parker if Roeder really plays him as boc to box midfielder.
17  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Spuds Vs NUFC on: Yesterday at 10:23:48 PM
Clubs like Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle can always relocate themselve fairly easily. They are still in Middlesbrough, SUnderland and Newcastle.

But London clubs cannot and once they relocate they will loss their locality. Imgaine if Tottenham relocate to Chelsea Laughing
18  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Chelsea finally sign Mikel, for 16 mill on: Yesterday at 10:17:19 PM
And also Lassana Diarra, who is a good player.
19  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Chelsea finally sign Mikel, for 16 mill on: Yesterday at 10:11:17 PM
And Essien as well.
20  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Spuds Vs NUFC on: Yesterday at 10:10:09 PM
I do think that Roeder could bring us back to top 6. And I hope that Shepherd would keep him if he does.

Roeder seems to have some decent ideas on club management and structures so I hope he gets the chance to realise his opinions.

Football side wise I think our club lacks a robust academy and a DOF structure. Once these are in place the club can go a long way given the gates and money.
