1  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / LMA on: May 13, 2006, 02:36:10 AM
Yes, they are a bunch of wankers.

Personally I would have placed many managers ahead of Glen for the managers job but the way the LMA are acting has really annoyed me and now im just enjoying the way his exemption has pissed them off so much. I have no problem with managers having to have qualifications to do there job, but since you can't actually fail the thing, it is surely logical to make the point of enrollment the time at which you are elligable to manage a club and not the point of completion. Surely it is the rule that is wrong and not Newcastle.

Can anybody shed some light on why they are so against the appointment of glen because, as far as I can see, it makes absolutley no sense. Especially considering the circumstances which stopped him from completing the course.

I think we need changes to this unfair advantage rule purely to allow goalkeepers to wear massive comedy gloves. But thats probably just me.
5  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: ENGLAND MANAGER IS BIG PHIL!!! on: April 28, 2006, 02:12:34 AM
IMO the three main qualities for an england manager are motivational skills, tactics and dealing with the media. Does nobody else care that he is ABSOLUTLEY SHIT AT DEALING WITH THE MEDIA. As I have already posted twice on this topic he has punched reporters on two seperate occasions and shouted at a referee that he would be waiting for him in the car park.

Although im fairly sure that wont happen again it does give an indication of his diplomatic skills. I just cant see how everbody thinks this doesnt matter or just conveniently forgets about it.

I do think its a good apointment overall but I also think that at some point THE SHIT WILL HIT THE FAN and I just hope it wont be at a vital time. Its a very very risky appointment. But then again its going to be very very entertaining.

I think that's ace, compared to someone pussying out. Theres loads of football writers I'd like him to smack!

Couldnt agree more. Infact I would line them all up for him to smack but with the way that sven gets torn apart by the tabloids for shagging his secretary imagine how the press would react to scolari. The guys a complete fruit loop. Dont get me wrong I think its brilliant but Im not sure how hes going to handle the tabloids.

P.S. I do not condone violence of any kind unless directed purely towards members of the tabloid media. Actually you can include marketing, govournment, and PR in that too. Oh and Souness.

Its either going to be great or an absolute shambles. The guy just doesnt know how to be diplomatic and I can just see him calling the tabloid press a bunch of c**t's or even punching one of them like he has done before in brazil (Is there any way we can press for Anal Oliver to interview him). He will never have experinced anything like it before in his life when the english tabloids get on his back, and you can be sure they'll be doing everything they can to wind him up because of his history.

Im not so sure its such a good choice for england, what with his history of punching reporters and yelling at referees that he'll be waiting for them in the car park, but its gonna be entertaining.

11  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Hiddink on: April 15, 2006, 02:12:45 AM
Why is everbody ruling out hiddink altogether? As far as I am aware he has only accepted the russia job and he is currently managing both Australia and PSV. Have I missed something? If he was coming here in some capacity it would fit in with the 'management structure' comments from FS.

Has he actually been ruled out or is it just another sign of falling expectations?

Punters size up Mancini for Magpies' nest
Football by Mike Brewer

PUNTERS have been quick to back Roberto Mancini, the Inter Milan coach, to become the next Newcastle United manager after he spoke of his intention to quit Italian football after players from his side were attacked by fans at the weekend.

Mancini, who is in to 3-1 from 7-2 with totesport to take the helm at St James’ Park, has become increasingly disillusioned with the scene in Italy and was left disgusted at the weekend after Javier Zanetti, Inter’s Argentinian captain, and Cristiano Zanetti, the Italian midfield player, were punched and kicked by fans at Malpensa airport, near Milan, as they returned from Saturday’s Serie A win at Ascoli.

Speaking on Monday, Mancini said: “This matter has speeded up my plans to go abroad — when I finish with Inter I will leave Italy, that’s a certainty.”

Mancini has come under pressure after Inter’s Champions League elimination by Villarreal last week but is highly respected in the game.

Martin O’Neill is totesport’s 2-1 favourite to be the next manager at Newcastle, but the former Celtic manager’s position at the head of bookies’ lists is under threat.

Paul Petrie, spokesman for totesport, said: “It seems that punters have realised that O’Neill does not want the Newcastle job and are looking around elsewhere. We still make O’Neill the favourite, but I can definitely see that changing by the end of the week as more rumours start to circulate around the North East.”

This last part is very interesting. Why would a spokesman for totesport be sugesting that o'neil does not want the job and that people should back mancini, unless ofcourse they think o'neill will accept the offer. It could be that there just trying to generate interest in mancini but the out and out dissmissing of o'neill makes me a bit suspicious. Im probably just reading too much into it though, or not enough as i dont really know much about how bookies usually make statements to the press.

13  General Discussion / General Chat / Re: Modern day Commercial Hip Hop on: April 06, 2006, 11:48:54 PM
Just a few names that I dont think have had a mention yet but deserve one:

Sage Francis, Josh Martinez, Sole, Roots Manuva, Kool Keith, Atmosphere and Aesop Rock.

There worth checking out if you havent heard them already.

Also if your after really cheap music and you dont have broadband you should get yourself a deck and go vinyl hunting. The other day i picked up two beatles albums, two led zep albums, two pink floyd albums, a lou reed album, a peter tosh album, a damned album and two joy division albums all for £14. There all good quality with only a couple of scratches on the lot of them.

Its dangerous teritory to get into though. Every time i see a charity shop i cant resist going in and it inevitably leads to the loss of at least an hour of my life, flicking through barry manilow and cliff richard albums, hoping all the time that the next one in the box will be something good so that i can just buy it and get the hell out of there.
14  General Discussion / General Chat / Re: Is there a scenario in which Al'Queda could win? on: April 06, 2006, 12:09:11 AM
It’s not really possible for Al Qaeda to win because they don’t really exist. The name was actually created by the American government to represent a wide range of militant Islamic organisations and bin laden didn’t use the name himself until after 9/11. I’m not saying there isn’t a serious problem to counter in terms of extremist Islam but there certainly isn’t a war on terror to be won or a clash of civilisations. The wide range of organisations that make up Al Qaeda have a wide range of goals and as such I don’t really think it’s a good idea to treat them as a single entity. They are however linked together through the idea of Islamic Jihad which is the real problem. How the f**k do you wage war on an idea. A good starting place might be the fair treatment of Islamic nations and not bombing the s**t out of countries that just happen to have oil in them.

Are we still talking about the BNP or just political parties in general.

Maybe if she had ever asked herself "why does he score so many goals?" instead of wondering wether he was strolling or ambling when he slotted them past the keeper, she might have had something interesting to write in her book. Somehow i doubt it though.
20  NUFC Discussion / NUFC Forum / Re: Shepherd sets manager deadline on: April 02, 2006, 11:56:19 PM
Only thing about Guus is how long will he be here for?

If your asking would he be hear in 6 years, i would say no. However, this isnt a major problem and im not saying i agree with this, but wouldnt his length of stay be about the length of time Shearer needs to be ready for the job. FS is adament that Big Al will be a manager some day, and wouldnt it be a massive plus for Shearer to have a club handed over to him that was completely different in a positive way to the one he will soon be leaving.

May sound like a conspiracy theory but:

Guus Hiddink signs a 3 year contract with the option of an extra year

Shearer takes year out gaining awards, has 2 years of relatively good success with lesser club

Shearer is employed as Hiddinks right hand man in the extra year of his contract

year 2010 Shearer appointed NUFC manager

I think we might be getting ahead of ourselves a little. Nice theory though.
