1  Football / NUFC / Re: There is hope... our problems aren't personnel on: September 13, 2006, 12:07:26 PM
Babayaro and Carr aren't good enough!Get rid!!
Bramble only good if someone tells him what to do and keeps on his case, otherwise not good enough. Moore is a run of the mill Premiership defender and Taylor may one day be very good indeed but not in the current back four.
Ramage may end up being the new Aaron Hughes - can play anywhere across the back four but not really very well really.
No we aint got any personnel problems at all
With Luque, sick noters Owen amd Dyer.
Nah no problems with personnel here are there!!

We have a Champions League Stadium with Champions League Support for the time being.
A Mid table Premiership team at best
A Championship / Mid table Premiership Manager (not to blame because he did not appoint himself)
and a Conference Chairman.
The previous regime under John Hall untapped the potential of the fan base. The current incumbent is in danger of allowing that fan base to wither away.
As loyal as many of us are, the evidence of our own eyes is that many seats in the ground are occupied by different faces from 1, 2, 3 , or 5 years ago.
Many of those who have gone won't come back - but there is now a position where tickets for premiership games are going unsold these are dangerous times - we need to stop the rot very quickly.
With £40 - £50m debts we can't afford for the stadium not to be full every game.
once a slide starts it can take several years to get going again - ask Leeds!

Too early to tell but based on his first two games looks like a poor mans Lua Lua.
However if hs is as quick as we are told and starts getting some service on the deck and through the channels he could be a new Andy Cole.
Obviously he doesn't respond well to over hit and over high crosses!
But that is not his problem!!

After last Saturday allowing ourselves to be beaten, by a team of journeymen, who had lost their best player, Bullard, through injury, was nothing short of disgraceful.
Players and manager, alike,  should be ashamed and if that is our home form then we are in for a long hard winter.
Its time some of the Millionaires who make up the sick list started really apologising to the fans by putting some of their salaries back into the club.
I wouldn't mind being on the sick for £102,000 or £70,000 per week.
In fact a fortnight of that would do me just nicely!
Until we get 2 new fullbacks and dispense with Carr and Babayaro and at least 1 Quality Centre half, we are going to end up giving away goals like we did on Saturday and at Villa Park two weeks before.
With this sort of form Middle of the Bottom half at best!

Ok Luque at £9.5m
And Owen at £17m
But dont forget Cort at £7m
Viana at £8.5m
and Boumsong at £8.5m
Additionally was Bramble really a £5m defender?
We might have amazingly got our money back on Jenas but was he worth £5-6m at the time?
Add Bassedas at £4m and Gavilan at £2m and others.
We managed to offload Woodgate and get more money - but if we hadn't?
Thats over £60 m wasted in not so many years.
We are not jinxed we have just been complete suckers in the transfer market.
Thats under Robson and Souness
The one constant is a crap Chairman who is overseeing a club still £40 m in debt despite the third largest, and by no way cheapest stadium in the premiership being full every home game.
