1  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Emre Fans on: October 26, 2005, 07:54:31 PM
emre loves souness too because it was him that gave him his chance.

for all of souness's faults, he s prepared to give young players a go - something sir bobby was less keen on.

I may be wrong here but didn't Emres debut come the season after Souness left? I'm certain it wasn't Souness in charge.

As to him giving youth a go compared to Robson, at Newcastle Souness' policy is to buy experience, Robsons policy was to buy talented youth.

Souness has given Ramage a chance, Robson gave debuts to the likes of Brittain, Taylor, Chopra, Ameobi (and would have no doubt given more if our academy was producing anyone of note at the time).

I bet Deco would have liked to have been given a chance at Benfica but Souness chose to replace him with an aging Michael Thomas ffs.

I'm not saying Souness doesnt give youth a go (that would be ridiculous considering the likes of Duff and Dunn at blackburn) but I just cannot understand how you came to the conclusion that Robson was less keen than Souness on fielding younger players. Bizzare. blueconfused.gif
You're right.Emre's debut comes with Fatih Terim. Not Souness.Whwn Souness was in charge Emre was 15 years old!

Emre is not the greatest ever player in Turkey, but he's one of the most talented footballer of his generation.Galatasaray fans love Souness so much because he sticked Galatasaray flag in the middle of the Fenerbahce stadium after beating them in the cup final. He's a legend for Galatasaray fans. When these events occured in the cup final Emre was a 15 years old teenager playing for Galatasaray young team.
3  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: At what point do you call for the manager's head? on: October 26, 2005, 01:59:39 AM
In England the club managers are much more patient I guess. If he was coaching a team in Turkey,he was sacked weeks before. He spent millions of pounds(Owen transfer is a huge transfer) and by the end of 10 Premiership matches 3 win,3 draw and 4 losses! Could only score 8 goals in 10 matches! I'm not English and I was not a Newcastle fan till Emre moves to Newcastle, but I must say Newcastle deserves more! And also doesn't deserve to be 7-10 points behind teams like Wigan or Charlton!

IMO the only reason we kinda fissled out was because some of our players aint match fit, The likes of Emre and Solano. I must add i cant believe how quick Emre has adapted to the Premiership its like he's been playing here for years
Don't forget that Emre is a young but very experienced player! He has a 4 year Serie A experience with Inter and UEFA Cup winning experience with Galatasaray!

In Turkey, a TV station broadcasts 5 premiership matches live each week.Because of Emre one of them is always Newcastle. So I watched first 2 games of Newcastle and I must say if NUFC can’t transfer a class striker this season will be a big dissapointment for Newcastle.Shearer is one of the best strikers in English football history but he’s not in his 20s now.He can play a supportive role as Bergkamp does in Arsenal. But being the only goalscoring weapon of a team? No way! I like Souness as a manager (I’m a Galatasaray fan(!)) but I’m sorry that he has a limited squad.By the way I think Newcastle’s most impressive footballer on the pitch was Stephan Carr today.
