All of us in my section were saying it would be a sneaky one nil to us, after the way we got at them in the second half. And when we scored, jesus, our section erupted, turned around and saw fellas running in the isles, the lads banging there heads of the "Shepherd Offshore" signs. Accidentally of course Newcastle Rocker if you sit in Level 7 SJH quite near the away fans, you would have seen me running 20 feet along the aisle, going right up to the Arsenal fans, then jumping on 2 stewards, then kissing one of them, yes a man kissing a total stranger who is also a man, then jumping on loads of other strangers jumping rounf in the balcony, it's the happiest I think I've been since Bellamy against Feyenoord.
The noise was like an AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAA instead of a regular YEAHHHHHH, I'll treasure the goal forever. |

What the f**k am I doing at No.3? Dont think me and Cobh Ramblers should be there, we are just controversial troublemakers rather than prolific board members.
I concur with that. |

Chat / General Chat Forum / Football Manager 2006 your greatest achievements

OK I know it's sad that a 27 year old man can at times find himself playing FM2006 3 and 4 hours a day but I know fine well, I'm not unusal in that respect. Right thats that out the way.
What's your best achievement to date on it.
To be honest I'm shite, the best I've done so far with the toon is 5th in my second season. My first season I came 12th and the fans still loved me, and Shepherd said I was doing a good job and gave me a new contract!! Typical! All this after a 1-2 reverse (again ) to the SMB at St James's.
Anyway I sold Shola to Charlton and got Dean Ashton in and I won the FA Cup at Wembley in my second season beating Arsenal 2-1 with a late Peter Ramage header, if only. Anyone done any better, or got any tops on who to sign. Honestly Dean Ashton is absolutely class in the game.

Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: 12 games in - 12 questions - your thoughts?
|
on: November 10, 2005, 03:20:13 PM

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Souness' Signings, how do you rate each Summer Signing?
Moore - don't know really don't Emre - Absolutely brilliant, technically one of the best players we've had Parker - Sort of player we haven't had since Batty's first 18 months at the toon. Class Owen - Best finisher in English football Solano - Robson's downfall when we sold Nobby, one of my fav ever toon players ty GS and FFS. Luque - Regarded by some as Spain's 3rd best player, we shall see
Are we improving as a team game by game from what you have witnessed? Can you see improvements?
The signings we've made would improve almost any team and it's been a long long time since we witnessed a second half like we did at WBA. Despite what Andy Gray would have you believe we're much stronger defensively, comparatively speaking anyway.
Which player has impressed you the most, this season?
Emre
Which player's game has deteriorated the most and what do you put that down to?
I would say Amdy Faye, but he was crap last season as well. I think Boumsong played some really good games last season, but this he seems short on confidence.
Who in your opinion is the most important member of the team, the first name on the team-sheet if you like, for you?
Owen
Given the players available, what would be your starting 11 and what formation would you use, if you were manager?
3-5-1-1 maybe I've played too much football manager!
Given - Boumsong Bramble Taylor - Solano Parker Emre Dyer N'Zogbia - Luque - Owen
What is our weakest area of the pitch in your opinion?
Right back
And our strongest?
Centre midfield
What's your position on Souness at this point?
Souness said all along we'd be alright when he has most of HIS players back, and so it has proved. Keep it up.
What 3 players would you target in January? Realistic options please!
Nuno Gomes, Kevin Hofland and Michel Salgado
Can we grab a European spot this season? Do you actually believe we can?
We can EASILY grab 4th!
And finally, is this OUR year?
No, never will be neither, we'll still support them though. |

Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Best designed stadium??
|
on: November 10, 2005, 12:57:27 PM

The best designed stadium I've been in by far, by an absolute distance, is the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven. I was there when Portugal beat England 3-2. The concourse area was fantastic, didn't have to queue for a beer, I even took my beer to the seats, and the stewards didn't mind.
The actual stands are as good as you'll get. So unbelievable steep, which makes for a cracking view and a fantastic atmosphere. The pictures of the Allianz Arena look something else, but for the all round football experience, of a beautifully formed medium sized super stadium (36,000), Eindhoven is as good as it gets. I can't understand why all of the plastic stadiums that have sprung up around England in the last 12 years, haven't used Eindhoven as an example of how a modern stadium should look. Contrast PSV's ground with Boro, Sunderland, Derby, Leicester etc... all with similar capacities.
Of the stadiums round the world I've not been to, I have to say The Reliant Stadium in Houston looks astonishing, lets hope we're saying the same about Wembley soon. |

Souness post match interview said that the crowd stuck with the team today and didn't get frustrated like Birmingham wanted.
Admittadly this was my first home match for a few seasons (due to living 250miles away and having a change in personal circumstances), but I don't ever remember it being so quiet! Where has all the noise gone? I looked around with 10 minutes to go and people were leaving, there were empty seats everywhere
I also went to the WBA game last week and the atmosphere was amazing, we sang our hearts out ALL game, but today was so so quiet. Are away matches better, or is there any reason why the once famous atmosphere at SJP going down the pan, if so why??????
Just wondered what everyone else thought today.
Fantastic example of how clueless our "southern" support is. I got a ticket for Pompey away off "rosstoon" met the lad at Fratton Park seemed like a nice lad, his posts on here illustrate he's as passiomaye aboot the toon as me or yee, but cynts like cranonscracker stay away ffs
it was so quiet **** off to torquay ye **** |

Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Which club has the most deluded fans in Britain and why?
|
on: November 04, 2005, 12:32:32 PM
|
Who in your opinion as a club and as followers of a club, are Britain's most deluded.
For me, and I know many will agree it's Tottenham Hotspur. Most Spurs fans I've come across consider them to be in the same bracket as Man Utd and AC Milan rather than, Man City and AFC Bournemouth which is nearer the truth.
This season though because they're doing well all of a sudden Spurs are bigger than this, club and that club agggggh I ****in hate them. Everyone knows eventually the cream rises to the top, and your mickey mouse clubs who start well (Charlton every season, Spurs this season) will eventually finish in their natural positions.
They're the most annoying fans I can think of. They often criticise Newcastle as a club for having "won f all", this is a club who has only won 2 championships in a century of football. Fair enough they've won a few FA Cups, but so have Blackburn.
Forgetting long and distant history, you just need to go on any Spurs message board to see they have an alleged, devine right to qualify for the Champions League. This is a club who since the Premierships inception, have had a highest placing of 7th!!!!!
My first experience of White Hart Lane was 1993, my 16th birthday as it goes, we won 2-1 and Peter scored a brilliant last minute belter. My overriding memory of the day was how pathetic a club they appeared. The fans were shit and this was in the day of "the shelf", I don't think they mustered anything other than a brief "caam on you spurs", and the ground was a ramshackle, and even now is nothing special. Looking at the programme I noticed their previous crowd to our game was 17,000 against Villa. All of these little things emphasised how much of a nothingness they were/are.
Consistently through the 90's and even this millennium they've stuggled to fill their little 36,000 ground (this in the premiership era), yet quite laughably their chairman claims they have the 4th largest fan base in Britain so you really couldn't make it up, and it appears their directors are as deluded as their fans.
Can anyone put a better case for a more deluded set of followers. |

I bet if it was revealed that he had cancer or something like that, you bunch of pricks would still slate him. Why don't you shut the **** up and piss off.
I've met him on a number of occasions, and hes a real decent bloke, all you knobs who slate him probably have no idea what kind of person he is.
Theres more to life than wasting all you're energy on posting on some forum about how much you hate Kieron Dyer (a Newcastle United player just to remind you), its just shows what kind of people you are.
100% agree |
