1  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: season ticket holders on: Yesterday at 02:57:10 PM
I live in Edinburgh and have 2 . One for me and my son. Trying hard to convince myself that it still worthwhile as the journey back at the moment is only passable with drink.
2  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Papering over the papered cracks on: January 08, 2006, 12:45:35 PM
Am I the only one who thought we got out of jail yesterday. ?  At times I couldn't tell which was the premier side and which was league 2. That was an awful , awful display and while I am personally delighted for Al in equalling the record there is no disguising the fact that again no real game plan, not playing as a team, players out of position and not playing for each other . How much longer can this go on before something is done.  Our likelihood of winning the FA cup is less than Julian Clary sh**ging  Miss World
3  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Recalling our loan players on: January 04, 2006, 01:19:38 PM
Butt was/is a good player. It is probably another example of Souness turning a good player into a c**p one. Sort out the real problem and get shot of Souness and then think about getting the loan players back.
4  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Danny Murphy on: January 04, 2006, 01:14:20 PM
Anyone who was at the Middleborough game could not say that Faye has been OK lately. He is simply not good enough for NUFC. Look at Scott Brown or Kevin Thomson at Hibernian if you want a quality midfielder with a great engine , can tackle and above all pass the ball to a team mate. They would not cost much but first get rid of the real problem at SJP ..... Souness
5  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Owen- broken metatarsal on: December 31, 2005, 03:38:03 PM
Our problem is not who we are going to buy or not buy. It isn't even who is injured. The real problem is the useless manager. There is no point in doing anything until that is solved. The situation is so clear, Souness is simply not up to the job. It would be worth putting up with short term pain ie for the rest of this season if the real issue was addressed. Give the new man the rest of the season to keep us up and plan for the long term benefit of the club for next season and several seasons to come. In other words get rid of Souness then put the rest of the house in order.
6  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Bowyer, Just go on: December 27, 2005, 10:03:26 AM
Hopefully Bowyer has played his last game for NUFC. Hibernian have 2 very good young midfielders who could replace him for minimum cost. Kevin Thomson is a similarly aggressive  has a good rngine  but the main difference being that he can pass a ball. Scott Brown, who is on Rangers shopping list, is another aggressive , putting everything into his game type but is a talented footballer. Both are early twenties and will end up in the premiership one day.  Bowyer is in my opinion a squad player at best and either of these would make the squad better after Bowyer leaves.
7  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: will FF sack GS if we're gunned on sat? on: December 08, 2005, 07:59:09 PM
David Murray was on BBC Scotland tonight and confirmed that McLeish would remain as Rangers manager. No deadlines were set for a review of his position and Murray said that you don't judge McLeish on the last 10 weeks but over the last 4 years. It looks like he is there at least until the end of the season.
8  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: United in for Duscher! on: November 06, 2005, 11:41:45 AM
No He saves his aggression in beating the opposition
9  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: United in for Duscher! on: November 06, 2005, 09:10:57 AM
A cheaper and useful addition to midfield would be Kevin Thomson of Hibs. He is a player in the Lee Bowyer mould , has a great engine and can put in a shift defending on top of  good attacking skills. The one difference between him and Bowyer. ? Thomson can pass the ball. This way get some cover and keep the transfer kitty for the striker we really need, as well as a left back. errr a right back and a central defender who doesn't boot the ball upfield every time he gets it.
10  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Craig Moore versus Blackburn? on: September 14, 2005, 11:19:20 AM
Souness is doing what he did at Blackburn, changing the back four from game to game. Lunacy. unless injuries or suspensions forces it. Successful teams have a settled back four. Moore is hopeless and not up to EPL standard I live in Scotland and I have seen him many times both live and on TV. Trust me he is not good enough.
11  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Has Souness run out of options? on: September 11, 2005, 02:41:13 PM
Injuries I can live with as they are part of the game. Mind you Souness knows this and should have more depth in the squad. What I can't forgive is the fact that we do not play as a unit. Other teams come to SJP and are organised , their players know exactly what they are expected to do. Our lot run haplessly around and are not in sync with each other. Who is to blame ? Only one person.... Yes youv'e guessed it  Mr  Souness our hopeless , tactically unaware and apology of a manager
12  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Souness must stay on: August 23, 2005, 09:31:01 PM
Its too late to sack him now. We will have to persevere til around Dec. If things are dire then get a new manager in and give him time to buy players in Jan window. Sacking him now would only make the situation worse. I am not a fan of GS as I always suspected that he would dismantle this club like he did with Blackburn.
13  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: ashton and johsnon... on: August 23, 2005, 10:30:46 AM
It was reported today in the papers that West Ham are bidding for Ashton. I agree that he would be a good replacement for Shearer as we need someone who can hold the ball up. We also need another pacy forward ans hope the Luqe deal can still come off
14  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Rumour: Souness out O'Leary in? on: August 21, 2005, 12:12:07 PM
I am not a GS fan but to sack him now would only be worse then sacking him in 3 or 4 weeks time as the new manager would have to soldier on with an inadequate squad with no depth , width or goal scoring ability. However either he gets two or three new signings in before 31 August and is given a chance or sack him now and my choice would be Gus Hiddink.  He did an amazing job for South Korea and has hardly been shabby with PSV. He might even bring the Korean left back and Kuiyt with him. The one problem is that we still have the same Chairman so how long before the same old problems arise ?
15  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Morrison to Norwich, Ashton to come here? on: August 18, 2005, 04:23:29 PM
Ashton would be a good signing as he will get goals which is more than can be said for Amoebi/Chopra. If he came then Keane could play alongside in 4 4 2. However I agree that we are more likely to squander the next 13 days fannying around after the unobtainable or players who do not want to come to SJP.  Shearer could mix and match with Ashton and Ashton is the future for next season. If we don't get a striker in by tomorrow and it is looking near impossible thenI am dreading Saturday.
16  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Plan B ? What plan B ? on: August 18, 2005, 10:15:05 AM
The situation is now utterly desperate. There appears to be no fallback plan or alternative strategy from either GS or FS. The squad is threadbare and any injuries are likely to have a disproportionate effect. Where are the goals going to come from ? They need to pay whatever it takes to get at least one striker and preferably two. The fruitless chase of the unobtainable( Owen/Anelka ) is so frustrating and the window close is now only 13 days away.  Please start trying to sign players who want to come to SJP .
17  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Gimme Shelter on: August 17, 2005, 03:40:04 PM
A good candidate would be Phil Anderton. He was Scottish Rugby Union CEO and now CEO with Hearts FC. He has transformed Hearts transfer policy and getting unhappy players to sign new contracts. Can negotiate with the best of them
18  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Striker on: August 16, 2005, 04:21:08 PM
I think Keane would be a good signing.and scored goals. At least he seems to want to play for Newcastle. Others worth thinking about are Benni McCarthy (he's desperate to come to England) and Dean Ashton from Norwich. He is going to be a really good striker and sooner than later. He can hrad the ball which is more than I can say about Amoebi. In fact I can't think of anything good tp say about Amoebi and the thought of watching him again this season gets me losing the will to live
19  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Where was Moore today?? on: August 15, 2005, 03:06:52 PM
Hopefully where he will be every time Newcastle play. Pray that none of the back four get injured
20  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: An absolutely disgraceful performance on: August 14, 2005, 07:02:06 PM
I went from dreading the game before the kickoff  to having seen many positives. Yes it was a dreadful refereeing decision and I don't think it was a penalty but the team played really well. Shay, StevenTaylor, Boom, Parker and Emre were outstanding. If we sign a wide left player and a striker I think we will have a good team and a much better season than a lot of supporters are predicting. Finally I thought Souness had the tactics bang on today and the team worked as a unit. You cannot legislate for a bad( no appalling ) referee.
