1  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Worth a bid? on: December 23, 2005, 11:59:54 PM
No.

He'd only played 12 or something games in the Eredivisie when Van Basten gave him his first cap. No better than
Taylor or Ramage and why would we need another young CB when there's still Huntington coming. Toni absolutely tore him apart and I think that was the last call-up for Vlaar for some time.

6  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Joaquin and Baraja on: November 26, 2005, 01:59:08 PM
I dont know the money situation Betis are in so i cant really put a price on Joaquin head but i'd be very suprised if they turned down £10m

Havent they turned down interest from Real/Chelsea over the course of the past 2 seasons, with them refusing to sell him when reported bids of 20 mill were made?

Also, arent Betis supposed to be quite a rich club? It was only a few years ago that they broke the world record to sign Denilson. Obviously that doesnt mean a great deal, but most of the clubs that have had world records in the past decade have tended to be ones who are financially secure (eg us). With them being in the CL, they must be doing well financially, hence there being no need to sell Joaquin - in fact, im sure I remember their chairman saying this last summer or in Jan, that they have no financial reason to sell him when asked about an impending bid from Real Madrid.

As for his valuation, you have to remember that Luque is 27, soon to be 28, and a fringe player in the Spanish side. Joaquin is 24 and a first teamer in the Spanish side. That alone will make sure hes worth alot more than what we paid for Luque.

Maybe there is a small chance well get him because none of the big CL clubs are prepared to move for him - but I still think its extremely doubtful.

BTW, are Betis his hometown club?

Joaquin ain't first-teamer in the Spanish side.

I would be surprised but not shocked like after last summer.

I think the Yeboah's goal is in it's own class.
I just love the way the ball bounces in the net.  bluebiggrin.gif

The turkish trainer started it, but there was no need for that revenge by that **** Huggel. The scenes got worse because of his actions IMO.
10  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: World Cup 2006 on: November 18, 2005, 03:15:33 PM
I don't think Ivory Coast will be the suprise of the World Cup, apart from Didier Drogba and Kolo Toure who do they have?

I think the top teams will easily brush aside all the African teams and T&T will be tonked 10-0 by some team and then dissappear off the football map.

Kalou brothers, Akale, Zokora, Aruna Dindane, Basary and Arouna Kone.

I think they will be the surprising team.

That Sunderland supporter is an idiot because everyone knows they are the worst team in the league.  But if he was comparing your team against a good one it would be somethig  else.  Robbo is ten times the goalkeeper Given is but he is still good for you, he ought to go to a better club like Wigan.  Your defence is just about the worst in the league, we got rid of Carr because he was no good but he does improve your team.  Parker is overrated, nowhere are good as Carrick, Sven knows that and that's why he never picks Parker for an England squad.  He wants good players in the squad so he dont pick Parker.  I dont think he should start with Owen because its clear to everyone that Defoe is less selfish and a better player overall.  King is vital to the England squad just like Carrick and Robbo and Defoe and Jenas and by the end of the season Lennon will be in the WC squad as welll but you only got Owen.  Spurs are the future of England and you dont like it because you know its true.  There isnt 1 player in your team wuld get into ours and we've got a better manager than you as well. Thats why we'll be playing CL footie next year and you'll be 14th like last year and playing in the Intertoto Cup like you do every year.

Tap in's indeed. What does that say about him as a player? Doesn't suggest great to me, suggests in the right place at the right time, he's got no skill, no real pace. He's just a poacher. How long has he played for Manure now, and he still hasn't scored a goal outside of the 18 yard box!!!

Seeing it's Bolton and we're in for an aerial bombardment, I think he'll keep Shearer in, and play Shola and Milner as the 2 in the 4-3-2-1 formation that he's favouring.

Spot on. blueyes.gif

IMO JJ was better than Parker today. And the header was far from free...
20  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Taylor pulls out of U21's on: August 15, 2005, 02:48:29 PM
I hope its just playing safe we can ill afford to lose wor Taylor. As for parker he just looked knackerd, once he is totaly fit he will be out standing. IMO

I was in the dark for two days before the match and thought for two seconds that Owen had signed for us.
