1  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Could of got £3 Million for Shearer at 34 on: August 23, 2005, 11:00:40 PM
According to Sir Bobby’s autobiography Liverpool made an offer while Gerard Houilier was in charge for Alan Shearer. Apparently Sheppard had not told Bobby and he only found out from phone call from the Liverpool Manager.

Tis true.
2  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: villa agree fee for baros on: August 22, 2005, 05:56:27 PM
So, Liverpool accept a bid from Villa Monday afternoon and the player goes for a medical monday night - why aren't our transfers this quick and simple?! And I thought Ellis was worse than Shepherd!!! blueconfused.gif

The personal details had been ironed out nearly two weeks ago. Baros wants the Villa move over the Lyon one and Liverpool have accepted that whilst holding the most out money they can from Villa.

It will indeed be interesting to see how the next week unfolds.

Benitez said they need a centre-back, not a centre-forward.

But of course, if they sell Baros, they will then need a centre-forward. And Michael Owen is available. So when Baros goes, I'm sure it's pretty much nailed on that they'll get Owen.

At last someone who cann read Rafa... Wink

Frodsham.

He'll have no choice though.
6  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Cisse on his way? on: August 19, 2005, 03:26:01 AM
Seriously think Cisse would come to Newcastle?

No but I think he could be leaving LFC within the next week. Sorry crossed lines...
7  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Cisse on his way? on: August 19, 2005, 03:24:49 AM
Would Cisse be effective in a 4-3-3 system, Rafa/Softlad?

I'm sure he would. I like him as a player but agree with 'Rafa's assessment re: first touch and more misses than goals.

Its on the Liverpool site, but shown as the BBC story.

Thats because it's in the mediawatch section.

Eriksson needs to show some balls and drop either Lampard or Gerrard.

Couldn't agree more. Drop Gerrard!
13  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: £11m for Owen? on: August 17, 2005, 11:23:51 PM
ask any Liverpool fan, Owen has a very high percantage of goals scored by his left-peg

I'm glad you pointed that out. For example, seconds before this:

14  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Denmark 4-1 England on: August 17, 2005, 10:15:51 PM
David James shouldn't be allowed to play for England ever again.

So...........goalkeepers for the World Cup IMO should be:

Paul Robinson

Chris Kirkland (if fit)

Robert Green

Actually.....................I can't think of any other English keeper who would be good enough....

Carson for one...

And Crouch will prove a few wrong.
16  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Denmark 3-0 England on: August 17, 2005, 09:29:19 PM
What annoys me is sven should have been sacked for banging that bird from FIFA. Mark Palios was forced to resign for the same thing when he is a single bloke and really hadn't done anything wrong. Sven is married and although some may say "good on him" it really isn't a good example to set.

Is correct.

is not correct. palios resigned in the wake of the conspiracy against erikkson, which was offering The Sun info about Erikkson's affair in order to keep Palios out the papers, not for the affair itself.

Is correct that Sven should have been sacked for that though.
17  Newcastle-Online Forum / NUFC Forum / Re: Denmark 3-0 England on: August 17, 2005, 09:27:27 PM
the bit in bold is on of the fundamental problems. if you play a 4-4-2 then it's either gerrard OR lampard, can't play both cos they both rush forward leaving gaps, they're both crap tacklers, and they both can't pass the ball. how different it would be if we had a Scott Parker anchor man, not only would his physical presence and tackling stop players like gravesen dominating, it would free up lampard or gerrard to get forward. or michael carrick would help us keep possession a lot better so we aren't always on the back foot.

Spot on and in pre-season/season to date you'd put Gerrard in the advanced role and have a holding midfielder - who that would be though is up for debate. Possibly Parker amongst others, dare I say it even Phyliss Neville...

isn't Carlo Cudicini allowed to play for England now?

Nope.
