The FA has received a claim for mistaken identity from Newcastle United relating to a yellow card shown to Scott Parker.

Parker was cautioned for a foul during Newcastle's Premiership match against Sunderland on 23 October.

A Disciplinary Commission will consider the claim tomorrow.

Great.

So does that mean the FA will give the correct player the yellow, meaning Carr will miss a match due to two bookings??

Hopefully, would rather Carr than Parker. It'll also give Ramage a shot at RB.

I'm wondering exactly the same thing.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

According to .co.uk if they change the decision then Carr will get a ban.

I didnt think they can give Carr a booking afterwards? Unless its because it was a bookable offence and gave it to the wrong player!!!

On nufc.co.uk they reckon if it gets changed then Carr will get a one match ban for 2 yellows, and miss the Grimsby game.

As he is probably going to miss that match with injury anyway it makes sense if we can pull this off.

Well who's more important for us? No poll needed to work that one out!  bluelaugh.gif. I hope it's recinded as he picks a few bookings anyway and we need him so much. Doesn't say a lot about how much Newcastle value Carr if they are willing to have him get a ban rather than a booking for each.... Imagine if you replaced someone like Owen, Emre or Solano with Carr. No appeal.

The dodgy thing here is, would Carr had made that tackle had he received his first yellow? I doubt it. I think we should leave it the way it is.

That's what I said.  Carr would in no way have welcomed Arca as he did had he already been cautioned.

But since he didn't already have one I was quite happy for him to get one by clattering the bastard

From TheFA.com:

At a Disciplinary Commission hearing today, Newcastle United's Scott Parker had his claim for mistaken identity upheld.

The claim related to the yellow card shown to Parker during the match against Sunderland on Sunday 23 October.

The caution issued to Parker will be rescinded and transferred to his Newcastle team-mate Stephen Carr.

As a result, Carr will serve a one match suspension with immediate effect as he had separately received a caution during the match against Sunderland.

Eh?

So if he'd got sent off for a second yellow would he have have received 3 yellow cards in that match?!

Excellent :) Although to be fair, Parker will pick up his real 5th card and get suspended at some point anyway. The amnesty must be some way off?

Good question that!

I'll see what I can find out.....

The main point now is that Carr will be suspended for Wednesday night, when he's injured anyway.

Parker's now on 3 individual domestic yellow cards this season, added to the 2 he got against Fulham!  Those 2 don't count towards the 5 for a suspension however.

Cue Sunderland fans now moaning they would have won had we had 10 men on the pitch.

But that second foul would never have happened if Carr already knew he was on thin ice... madness.

Sorry Paul, but I fecking hate referees :tongue3:

Hmm, I didn't even realise you could appeal against a yellow - or can you but only in the event of mistaken identity?

They shouldn't be allowed to transfer yellow to Carr because it was the ref's mistake...I wonder if the ref gets a warning for getting it so blatantly wrong!

I understand :P

That particular 2nd foul wouldn't have happened, but we don't know that he wouldn't have picked up another yellow for something else

Was silly of Mr Styles to muck it up in the 1st place mind.

So the whole thing about the ref giving Parker the yellow for "obstructing" the player or whatever he said was complete tosh aswell then?
